I do not even want to go into that thread. She has some cute songs but that is all, never been a strong live performer on the same level as Madonna, Prince, Michael, Janet. But s**t happens and either you own it or make excuses. LIES Please dont make me pull up countless live and amazing VOCAL performances from the first decade and some beyond. However i can excuse you if you dont consider or know what great live vocals are. Dont start with that b.s because she doesnt dance doesnt disqualify her amazing live vocals. You will not downplay her voice, when a singers job is to actually be able to sing not... (actually never mind i will stop my sentence there) Every performer who has been in the industry long has had their awful moments, NYE was s**t, but so was Madonna's Prince tribute that got dragged all over social media . Dont play that game. if you want to sit in this thread and discuss Mariah, then i can easily get it back on topic and tell you all about Madonna's many issues. Oh and that's cute. Okay, your opinion. Just like you have the right to go on and on, I have a right to make a comment. My opinion still stands that she isn't in the same league as Madonna, Janet, Prince and Michael and it is really okay. MC is never going to win over everyone, and again, it is OK, just like Madonna won't and it is OK. BTW,trust, I am quite aware of some of the crappy Madonna vocals and like I said, shit happens. I think you need a hobby other than Pulse. Have a good day sir.

I would actually say that Madonna's voice is better than Mariah's right now.

I have heard truly great voices in my lifetime...neither of the MCs would qualify. One lacks body, the other lacks range...
I do like when singers use live vocals, warts and all, rather than a perfect illusion. On that account, I'm mostly satisfied with M.

I would actually say that Madonna's voice is better than Mariah's right now. Based on even 30 second freestyle riffs at Mariah's live shows or wherever ALONE, this is incorrect, but...ok. You can support an artist you like without telling actual lies. Look, I have made my position on Madonna Louise Veronica Ciccone's musical output and legacy as a pop star VERY clear. I will not take away the fact that she has made an amazing career for herself as a style icon, businesswoman, star of the Evita movie and soundtrack, master provocateur, and the voice and, in some cases, mastermind, behind some KILLER tunes that span decades. Hell, she has even made a classic album (Ray of Light), classic greatest hits compilation (The Immaculate Collection), and some extremely well-constructed albums (American Life, Music, Hard Candy, MDMA, Confessions on a Dance Floor, and Rebel Heart), but, as long as Mariah has a working diaphragm, mouth, and throat, she will sing figure eights around Madonna, even on her WORST day. That is not being a stan because I don't actually believe in that term. No, this is me being honest with cold, hard, supported facts. There is no need to live in an alternate reality just because you disagree with a poster or HER opinions.

There's too much Mariah in this thread.
Let's talk about Madonna's hilarious Instagram video of the MDNA face mask instead.

I'll take Brenda K Starr's two-octave rendition of I Still Believe any day over the remake.

"You want this product. I want this product." Perfectly said. It's like if you want Zac Efron. But people keep telling you Arnold Schwarzenegger is bigger, bulkier, better. But yuck, you don't want Schwarzenegger...you want Zac!

^Yes! There are some crazy prices being asked out there from sellers for this pink vinyl too so its great to see this and even the elusive, Bedtime Stories on vinyl, at accessible costs. Not sure if 180 gram vinyls are worth their weight but there they are.

The Immaculate Collection vinyl is due this month (part of Rhino's "Start Your New Ear off Right" promotion).

I've been hooked on Hard Candy lately. I can listen to this one from beginning to end. I love the one-two punch of She's Not Me and Incredible, such jams and they do not feel 6 minutes long. This will always be a favorite of mine.

10 Classic Album Concerts We'd Like to See: From Dylan to Madonna www.rollingstone.com/music/lists/10-classic-album-concerts-we-want-dylan-madonna-w460171/tom-petty-the-heartbreakers-damn-the-torpedoes-w460186Madonna, 'True Blue' It's been a long time since Madonna has released an album that connected with a mass audience, and her live show tends to be divided evenly between huge hits and brand new tunes much of the arena doesn't know. Why not break out of that cycle by re-staging a classic album like True Blue? Songs like "Live to Tell," "Papa Don't Preach" and "Open Your Heart" have aged remarkably well. It would be a huge event that would really fire up the Madonna faithful. From there, she could do Ray of Light and Like a Prayer. It would be the perfect way to give her career a huge jolt. --- ^What a great idea! M has the best discography in the biz. Hope she will play to her strengths after she gets the next movie out of her system.

A great read. It appears that she will be busy with another film on her hands. Good to know that it will be from an adapted screenplay. Over the course of an hour, we talked about a great many things, but we started with her upcoming movie project, Loved, an adaptation of Andrew Sean Greer's novel The Impossible Lives of Greta Wells. On her coffee table, there were binders filled with research for the project—potential settings, costumes, and so on. Madonna is thorough. In fact, she co-wrote the screenplay and will be directing the film. The novel follows the title character as she moves through time and negotiates three different lives she could have lived. The story also focuses on Greta's relationship with her gay twin brother, Felix, in those different lives. "It touches on a lot of really important topics I've always been invested in or championed—fighting for women's rights, gay rights, civil rights, always fighting for the underdog," Madonna says. "I've always felt oppressed. I know a lot of people would go, 'Oh, that's ridiculous for you to say that. You're a successful white, wealthy pop star,' but I've had the shit kicked out of me for my entire career, and a large part of that is because I'm female and also because I refuse to live a conventional life. I've created a very unconventional family. I have lovers who are three decades younger than me. This makes people very uncomfortable. I feel like everything I do makes people feel really uncomfortable. Why does this book appeal to me? Why did I want to adapt it into a screenplay? Because it touches me on so many levels and it deals with so many important topics. Right now, more than ever, it's an extremely timely story to tell." Attachment DeletedAttachment Deleted

She can at least do one and merge 3 iconic albums into one tour.

Since we have been strolling down memory lane a bit and discussing a classic album she could do on tour, I thought I would revisit some of her catalog. Specifically the ballads. We all know that about 22 years ago, Madonna put out her greatest ballads on "Something to Remember." I was wondering, what is your all time favorite ballad from Madonna...the one that you always go back to...the one that you always try to sing along to? For me, that ballad will always be "Oh Father." I don't relate to it personally, as both my parents are living and my dad is pretty amazing, but the emotion in that song...the orchestration...her vocals...the video...it all comes together for me and totally guts me every time. I remember in the review for this song, one of the reviewers (I believe it was Billboard) called it "as close to art as pop music gets." In terms of her recent work, honorable mention goes to "Love Spent" and "Joan of Arc". What are your favorites?

My favorite Madonna ballad is "Live to Tell" it showed the depth she was capable of, and set the tone for her artistic journey from there forward. Plus, that instrumental break, building up to "If I ran away..."- awesome, chilling stuff.
"Crazy For You" is next in line, and then stuff like "Drowned World" and "Oh Father."
RH) I believe that quote was about the LAP album itself, but close enough. ;)

This Used to Be My Playground is my #1 ballad from her.
Live to Tell and Joan of Arc are #2 and #3. Maybe Oh Father for #4.
