It's such a gift to have new Music Box vocals in our lives, especially on My Prayer...that final note was what I needed this morning.

And I don't know what was missing for me in the Rarities' version of All I Live For (because that song just never connected with me like it seemed to with everyone else), but whatever it was, they sure found it and injected it right into this new version. I guess they found some new vocal stems or something, because this updated version is SO good.

I agree, but I also like how Music Box stands on its own in her catalog as her only AC/Celine type album.

"My Prayer" is my fave of the new stuff so far. She does that style of song so well, but I will be placing the song on Emotions.

I like "Workin' Hard" but as of now it feels like a Janet demo to me (and the verse melody reminds me of "Young Hearts Run Free," does anyone else hear that?). It also has a "Here We Go Round Again" feel to it.

"Hero 2009" wasn't needed by us, but we know Mariah is not a fan of the original so of course she was going to put the update on here. I would have preferred the acapella of "Now That I Know" though; it's stunning.

Lastly, did anyone else notice they uploaded lyric videos for "Dreamlover," "Hero," and "Without You" to YouTube? Long overdue! The new pics are really nice.

It's too bad it got added to Music Box so late. I'm sure it's counting toward GH for RIAA purposes, and is probably the only song to do so (maybe the "AIWFCIY" remix). It actually streams fairly well, so it would be nice if it would now count toward Music Box but that ship has sailed.

Wow, first of all, never in my wildest dreams I'd thought we would be getting this much from Music Box! Back in the 00's everybody was pretty certain Mariah did not have many unreleased records to begin with, so to be getting this much after all this time it's just mindblowing and from Music Box, arguably her vocal peak? Just astonishing!

The 3 standouts are clearly All I Live For (extended), My Prayer and Workin Hard, all great songs but so different from each other. Love the remixes as well, actually I might prefer the Working Hard remix over the original, it's more fun and current.

My theories:

All I Live For was excluded from the original MB because a) it's a tad too RnB for the corporate morgue's taste, although nothing really different from what Tony was releasing back in 1993 and having great sucess btw; b) the song is all about taming some man's insecurity, there's no way Tommy would allow that to be on their "wedding album", he just found the perfect excuse to exclude it.

My Prayer, I guess, was Mariah's present to Tommy. She was in love, no doubt about it, Tommy has always been very nostalgic of the 50's/60's, so my theory is that she recorded it as token of love, a way to please him and was probably glad it didn't make the final cut lol Thank God Without You was also recorded because it's a better cover and works way better on the album (not to mention the huge sucesse it turned out to be). Nonethless, MP it's a gorgeous version and a great addition to her catalog.

I can't pinpoint when "My Prayer" could've been recorded. There's a grainy quality in her voice that doesn't sound like 1993. It's probably from early 1992, maybe even pre-MTV Unplugged.

Ugh, it's like Christmas (but not like the Christmas we deal with every year, haha)! I get chills listening to the 'new' stuff.... just takes me back to that beautiful place of discovering this golden voice and how transformative and magical it was. She has one of the greatest vocal gifts of all time. Obviously 'My Prayer' (Jesus, those vocals), 'Workin' Hard' and the extra stuff on 'All I Live For' are the highlights because they are really *new*, but I'm loving just taking everything in. I'll even put in a kind word for the Hero 2009 that nobody needed.... it's a testament to how strong her voice still was at that point, even if it's not 1993.

It's funny (and annoying because I wanted to use the non-live version) how they added applause to the 'studio' version of "I'll Be There" to make it seem like it was part of the Proctor's concert.

Giggling ugly Tomatoes 🍅 tried to wipe down the melanin of the original Musicbox the vocal bible . I'm glad that Mariah added the right original album closer to this version.

Working Hard and it's remix which gives me Aretha in certain parts and the remix which takes me back to when I was working hard at the gay clubs back in the day trying not to ride diqs ( primal urges and all we have to serve class and decorum) . My Prayer literally sounds like a prayer and in the same lane as Forever and other classic Mariah albums. All I live For I can't tell if those are old and new vocals interwoven but whatever she did to it this version knocks. Mariah Carey is a gift from God and knows how to serve her fans , create mystic and reverence for her back catalog and is thee living legends.

We all know Coco is one of the founding mothers of Pulse but I'm MOST proud of the lambs and mother Carey house. Miss y'all and hope you continue to shine despite all the lies and dirt that gets thrown around in the pig pen 🐷

I can't wait to see what she does with Daydream #30, Butterfly etc. She keeps raising the the lane she created in establishing a vault or rarities demand that others have followed and she didn't need Scooby Doo Braun stealing her shit to do it. Mariah is the blueprint "
