I don’t know I think it is weird to show your vote before the results. It would be one thing if you wanted to have a conversation after the results, but before is kind of tacky. It does show a real worry about how it feels like many are saying Mariah should get in, but how the actual results could tell a different story. I think people find it very easy to gloss over Mariah and her contributions to music. I think out of all of the vocalists to come and go, there is a lack of appreciation for her total musicality.

Even we can't believe 100% in these insiders, I'm getting excited to everything I'm reading about #MC16

Sounds like they are making up sh*t. Any fans could have guessed these themes beforehand.

Lol yeah those themes are literally the same themes of at least half of her albums (and especially MIAM since it had "Supernatural" on it).

I think the only thing we can guarantee is a JD track.

I would love nothing more than to have Max Martin on the new album.

It looks like Swift is trending to being the top selling female artist ever if she doesn't significantly fall off in the next 10 years. Mariah will eventually pass Celine and sit at 3rd.

Wait, how is Celine ahead of Mariah? That doesn't make any sense. I presume it's because of her French albums. In English speaking albums, she's behind.

Wait, how is Celine ahead of Mariah? That doesn't make any sense. Celine sold a fuckton of albums in the late 90s. A couple diamond albums, and that’s the US alone. It’s astounding to look back on now but she’s always cited atop of all-time albums sales lists for women.

Yeah but even with those Diamond albums, she's over 20 million behind Mariah in the U.S. She also had a tighter window of success compared to Mariah. But yeah, maybe some of it's the French albums colson mentioned. Even so I question the accuracy. I am wondering if Mariah's sales in Asia aren't quite right.

Celine's Courage opened at #1 with 113,000 in 2019 I assume this decade is 2020-2024, so 71k for Mariah might be a week for "Merry Christmas". I was referencing the first tweet that literally said it was the biggest since "2018"

She was ahead of Mariah in album sales domestically for a long time (though Mariah with the help of the streaming for "AIWFCIY" May have closed the gap), but especially WorldWide Celine has sold more. She was never 20 million units behind domestically. lol I've followed those statistics closely throughout the years and they've all never been super far apart (both in the higher 50 millions). Unless you're for some reason including extremely inflated "certifications" where an album selling 6 million somehow qualifies as 10x platinum. I'm just speaking in actual sales.

Cool. Is Celine's thread still open and active? Yes. Why? Are people not suddenly allowed to comment on a fact that's brought up in this thread? Because that would be weird as hell. Carry on.

Cool. Is Celine's thread still open and active? I shouldn't have brought up another act in this thread because I should have known it would attract fake unwanted trolls. But nevertheless, what I said in my initial post still stands, and that is that Mariah will pass Celine in the future in overall sales. The annual holiday momentum of her MC album and AIWFIY single will sell for years to come.

How long have I been participating in this forum and we're still being petty and running with a delusional narrative/petty immature insults because you don't jive with what I say and are so immersed in your fandom at your age you can't take the slightest even potentially perceivably non-glowing thing said in reference to Mariah? Please. Keep the personal jabs out of it.

I see he's gonna make some LAMBS seek out a phone book in 2024... I'd love to hear how he justifies voting for Mary J but not Mariah. Like, if he had no R&B or hip-hop picks then I could say he just doesn't like that music, but what does Mary J have over Mariah (and that's no shade to Mary J)? (Oasis is a joke to me too. They had 2 great albums, but they were just a Beatles lite act who came and went with the 1990s. Like, how are they Hall of Fame worthy?!) I've been through this process a few years ago when Carole King was on the ballot. And I also remember specifically being extremely disappointed with Sean Fennessy's ballot in particular. He revealed it then too. He didn't include Carole and his other choices were head-scratching at the time. I heard him on a podcast explaining it, and his ballot was a mixture of personal preferences and artists who he thinks deserve to be in but may not get a lot of votes. That's something I found out with Carole King and a lot of the people who made their ballots public. They tend to be music critics who do this. Very few of them actually voted for Carole, and I was beside myself with every ballot that came out and didn't vote for her. I'm like, "How can you not vote for THE CAROLE KING?" I thought she wasn't gonna get in. Then she did. That's what I learned about the process. A) Those who make the ballots public account for a tiny tiny percentage of the actual ballots. B) They tend to not vote for more popular, big-name artists and instead try to give votes to acts who may not garner as much voting support. So this time around, I'm trying not to sweat the individual ballots that trickle out. The podcast I listen to, "Who Cares About the Rock Hall" says Mariah is "too big to fail" in terms of getting in. I trust their opinions. They've analyzed this for a long time and they know what they're talking about. NOTE: Future Rock Legends is tracking public ballots as they come out on a spreadsheet. Mariah has 3 of the 4 revealed so far, and that includes her fan vote placement. Nobody has more than three in the early going. You can see that here: Hall Ballots revealed

The annual holiday momentum of her MC album and AIWFIY single will sell for years to come. Mariah also has better streaming in general, so the SPS for her albums will outpace. I still think Mariah's sales in Asia are being underrepresented, though. Notice they are only including sales from Japan, but she has done well in other Asian territories as well. Those sales don't seem to be included. Additionally I see they show 6.4 million in U.S sales for TEOM, but it's 7x platinum. It has 10.3 million for Daydream here, but it's 11x platinum. There are more like this. So, yeah, her totals are not as high as they should be.

Celine Dion has never been ahead of Mariah in domestic sales. When it comes to wordwide it’s hard to say because wordwide numbers are all estimated and not solid figures. They each have regions where one did better than the other. They are most likely side by side when it comes to worldwide totals. Also, Chartmasters is not real. Everyone knows that. Those sales have never been verified.

Celine Dion has never been ahead of Mariah in domestic sales. I'ma go ahead and say again this is 100% inaccurate. I distinctly remember seeing Billboard post updated numbers years ago for the top 5 best selling female artists of the Soundscan era and Celine absolutely was only 2nd to Madonna and Mariah was 3rd (thinking it was the 2000s decade). It stayed like this for years before "All I Want For Christmas Is You" started picking up pace and as a result with new SPS calculations boosted her album sales with it and she likely surpassed Celine. Celine was never 20 million units behind domestically and she absolutely lead Mariah behind Madonna for years and those are absolute facts. Sorry it's not what the popular narrative is, but it's true. And it makes sense as Celine's physical sales always outperformed Mariah's domestically up until The Emancipation Of MiMi. Yeah this was figures from around 2013 after Mariah had gained steam and just overtook her. As you can see, they were never 20 million apart and it was close then. Let me try to find a figure from the end of the 2000s.

It's about time they updated Mariah's Chartmasters. It's looking like Taylor will be #1, Madonna #2, and Mariah #3. Even Mariah's gap vs. Madonna has narrowed a little bit.

What are you talking about? That is simply not true. Mariah is the biggest selling Soundscan artist in history, even over Madonna. Way before AIWFCIY became the juggernaut that it is now.
