I'm so ready for a STEVIE MARIAH duet. YOU AND I!!!!! Mariah confirmed that Stevie only plays the harmonica on the song; no vocals. Really? If I got Stevie in the studio, I'd make him sing sing sing.

Why does everyone assume it's a female collaborator, especially when like 80-90% of her collabos are with male artists? Ok, let's speculate possible boy duets... Bruno Mars.. This would be a dream Adam Levine ... Even dreamier Robin Thicke .... I have no words... The falsettos Who else?

Hahaha, I edited my comment to reflect the craziness in what I said. We will see. I am pretty sure the surprise we are getting has probably been mentioned we are just too dense to realize it.

It's funny people bring up Adam Levine because Wake Up Call (Mark Ronson remix) was just playing and when I heard Mary J. Blige, I thought of Mariah's voice on that song. There were parts that were distinctly Mary J Blige but then again, she DID say she grew up listening to Mariah. I always die when I think of that, LOL. Oh...and I Stay In Love just came on as I type this. It's a sign!

His work with Amy Winehouse was great. I would also love it if she worked with Rick Rubin. I think Rick Rubin could really help evolve her sound. Pipe dream though :'(.

The surprise will probably be Stevie Wonder or Dem Babies. Mariah classes her dog having puppies as a surprise, so I do not trust her judgement on surprised anymore!
If it's a female duet, I could totally see Alicia. Maybe she called in a helping hand for a Whitney tribute ;)
If it's a male duet, I'm hoping for something with John Legend. They're voices blend well together.

Mark Ronson mentioned Mariah in the liner notes for Amy's posthumous Lioness album. Apparently Amy told him to tone down the violins because it was starting to sound like a "f*cking Mariah Carey song" (or something along those lines...)

If she had to collaborate with a female singer, I would prefer Toni Braxton or Tamia as I think they could create something beautiful blending their voices together. I love Mariah's lower register and a nice sexy slow jam with Toni accentuated with Mariah's upper register would be magical.
If I had to choose a male singer/rapper, I would either do a nice fun uptempo with Prince or a nice slow jam with Drake.

As I sit here on my balcony on a rainy Friday night a few things to say while I sip on my Vodka and Cranberry juice
- Ain't nobody ever get Coco as excited as the dawn of a Mimi era! #tingling
- Mariah is a #Aries just like me and just like me she has and amazing spirit some call it a "free spirit" some call it child like. I'd like to see the album title contain the word "Spirit" she always has that and always did and nobody can take that s**t away from you! Its undeniable.
- I love you Mama Carey and I always will #rideordietogether

I never agreed with the notion of surprise digital release being a copycat thing anyway (at least not in a bad way). Let's face it, we're going to see these types of releases all year long. Mariah still gets her shot early in the game while it's still considered a big deal. a year from now it won't be. If nothing else, "Mariah pulls a Beyoncé" will have her trending worldwide for at least a day or two. That's certainly more interest than Memoirs got. But Mariah's release isn't a "surprise." We've heard songs from the album, and we've had a release date. How is it a surprise? This release is nothing like Beyonce's release. I would love it if Mariah worked with Mark Ronson. I think he could do a few good tracks with her. His work with Amy Winehouse was great. I would also love if she worked with Rick Rubin.  I think Rick Rubin could really help evolve her sound. Pipe dream though :'(. Mark Ronson mentioned Mariah in the liner notes for Amy's posthumous Lioness album. Apparently Amy told him to tone down the violins because it was starting to sound like a "f*cking Mariah Carey song" (or something along those lines...) If true, that's an odd statement because I can't think of a Mariah song that has overly pronounced violins/strings (maybe "Bringin' On The Heartbreak" or other lesser known songs). It's certainly not something readily identified with her, at any rate.

^ Can you tell me exactly when the album will be released? Because if you can't, then it is most definitely a surprise release. And it absolutely is similar to Beyoncé in that you will know very little about this album until you download it, and most of the public knows nothing at all.
Sure there are some differences, but the idea is the same.

It's similar to Beyonce's album, in that it will be a digital-only release at first, with all the pertinent info being available only when it's released (if it all pans out that way). But, people are expecting Mimi's album and have been for some time, thanks to advance singles and multiple release dates; it's just a matter of the date possibly being before May 6.

Now that the Frozen soundtrack will be dipping below 100K each week I think this could debut at #1. The only thing I could see blocking her is Hunter Hayes.

LOL Mariah wont likely debut at #1 especially if this digital release only the first week since 1) she has not been a digital seller 2) she has not produced big hits (she sells albums when she has a hit song) 3) her name is not that relevant nowadays anymore

It depends as long as she makes it where only the album is available and not the individual songs available she might be able to rope enough casual interest in downloading her album to get higher numbers.

And it absolutely is similar to Beyoncé in that you will know very little about this album until you download it, and most of the public knows nothing at all. Sure there are some differences, but the idea is the same. We know the album is coming out, though, whereas Beyonce's dropped out of nowhere. We've been serviced 3 of the songs from the album, whereas Beyonce hadn't officially released any singles/tracks before her album dropped. Mariah has already done promotion for the albums/songs (a bunch for "#B," Fallon and some others for "TAOLG," radio stuff for "YM(E)"), whereas Beyonce didn't do any promotion before her album dropped (and barely did any after). We also know that her kids on "Supernatural," "Dedicated" features Nas, Stevie Wonder plays on a song, there's a song called "Thirsty," Wale is on the album, and so on. So, I'd say we know more than "very little." Mariah has told us May 6 as a release date, so we actually do have that. Personally I don't think the album will drop on that day, though (or before). So, no, to me the idea isn't the same. At all It's similar to Beyonce's album, in that it will be a digital-only release at first, with all the pertinent info being available only when it's released (if it all pans out that way). But, people are expecting Mimi's album and have been for some time, thanks to advance singles and multiple release dates; it's just a matter of the date possibly being before May 6. "If it all pans out that way" being one key to what you said. And I don't see how having 3 songs from the album as well as other song titles and guest/producers doesn't fall into "pertinent" info. I consider those things more pertinent to the album than the title and cover photo since those likely don't tell you anything about the music. I'd also like to note that Kanye West dropped Yeezus without a lead single months before Beyonce released her album. MGMT didn't release a single for their second album. In other words, Beyonce didn't invent the concept of wanting people to focus on the entire album either.

Oh BAYBUH! Once the album drops and it's of utmost quality, then all the sub-disparaging can finally stop. I will be glad when the convo is about how great the album is. Also, I'm not sure where some people are gettin facts that the older songs will make the album when there has been ZERO proof. Y'all know something we don't. Y'all have the Billboard article and are acting stingy??

Yeah all things are pointing it can go either way with past songs making the album. All rumors and reports are leaning toward not than in favor of making the album. She and the label might have opted for all new material to only make the cut of the album to give the album fresh legs period.
