Wasn't there a rumored duet with Maxwell? There was (based on a tweet by Maxwell), but by all accounts it never actually happened. |

Her cd release is already not going to be like Beyonces just for the fact that she said it was coming out soon but, will be a surprise???
Even though You're Mine got decent reviews it was the wrong choice for a first single. It was to typical 2000's on MC.

Everyone chill even if it is delayed a couple of weeks. It is in the hands of her record company now, so it isn't like she will be tinkering with it, and it will be delayed by months. I would be more worried if she didn't turn it over to her record company, but she did so let's breathe a sigh of relief. We are getting it sometime between now and May 31st!

I really don't think the album is coming "late May". I think that's all part of the plan to make it a big mystery about the release date and then drop it unexpectedly. This release is more similar to Jay Z's than Beyoncé's, where the release date will probably be announced very close to or the day of release, but people already know a lot about the album. The real question is if this is going to be a digital exclusive or not.

^^ That's the first thing I thought, too, when I read "late May". I think they're saying that in an effort to increase the surprise factor when/if it is released earlier than that. Another possibility, I think, is that a physical release could be set for late May, but a digital release could very well come much sooner.

I think Beyonces strategy worked because it was the first time it had been done and everyone was shocked. if everyone does it it will lose its novelty and i dont think it will pay off at all. A typical release in my opinion would do better for an album.

Mariah's clearly not going to "pull a Beyoncé" in terms of hype, but hype behind this project was basically dead; dropping an album of entirely new material with a brand new single all at once will probably put more interest behind a new Mariah single than anything else they could have done at this point.

People forget that Beyonce released a VISUAL album. She didn't just drop an album.
I love Mimi, but there's no anticipation for the record and this seems like a ditch effort to create buzz.

So basically:
All 3 tracks released so far will be on the album. (Excluding Triumphant and Almost Home)
Hit Boy has 3 tracks on the album with 2 being non ballads and more uptempo
JD only has 2 tracks (Praise the LAWD)
Album will be released with everything revealed (track listing , guests, production credits, album cover, etc) at one time on various digital retailers.
Any day in May.
Mike Will Made It made the cut.

I haven't read the article yet. Billboard already misrepresented her in talking about a Beyonce-type release within the next 1-2 weeks, so who's to say they didn't misrepresent her elsewhere? Anyway, I'd like to think the album is done and maybe handed in, but at this point haven't we all learned to not take anything for granted with this release? Now that Beyoncé has done it successfully, other big names will use this tactic to score a #1 album by releasing it on a day they feel there is no competition.
