Diva's are born dahhhling not made. She also drew herself as a blonde ;). I hope we get a Stripperiah anthem! With song titles like Thirsty and Money, she better be taking me to the strip joint with at least one of those songs and laying those dolla bills down with those vocals on a serious beat!

* personalize it so your followers will RT for you regardless if the like, love or mildly dislike her. * Include key dates, name title not just a generic buy Mariah's new album * Twitter and online sites are key!!! and it takes 2 seconds to get the word out
While you're at it KELIS is on Conan tonight support a sister by watching so more talented r&b acts get booked

Still at the way she says "personal treasure"... Definitely an ode to her HSN saleswoman stint.

Does anybody still have that low quality pic of last year's new releases ad with the original cover of the release? From what I remember, it looks to be from the same shoot, and very similar to the deluxe addition.

You know what is really interesting is that you can really analyze that drawing she made and inject some psychology into it. It is interesting that she calls this drawing a self portrait at age 3. When you look at pictures of Mariah, that picture certainly doesn't reflect the reality of her appearance as a child. It is interesting that she drew herself with more of a Barbie/Marilyn Monroe like appearance with blonde, straight hair. You certainly can look at it in one of two ways the happy version in that she was drawing how she envisioned herself to be in the future. It certainly shows the creative, hopeful side of Mariah in that picture envisioning grandeur for herself early on in life. Or the sad version, where she was insecure with how she looked that early in her life that she drew a version of how she wanted to be seen. It certainly does date how far back her insecurity went if you take the sad version route. Some perspective if you put this photo and this drawing side by side. Sorry if people are like what the hell, but my mind goes in directions like this sometimes. Attachment DeletedAttachment Deleted

"Lately, they have been calling me the elusive chanteuse." Who, who has been calling you that? The other voices in her head. LMAO. Oh gosh, I thought Me. I am Mariah was funny enough, then I read the Elusive Chanteuse.

Let's see the album competition for the week of the 27th per metacritic info below. Only some of those rang a bell to me. I see Cher Lloyd could get some attention, but I doubt anything big. It would be interesting to know what will Austin Mahone finally be able to accomplish sales wise after building his girl fan base for so long. Sam Smith can gather some attention too although iTunes lists him as a June release. Could Mariah score a #1? Do you guys see any other big name there?? The only one I'm buying of that whole list is ROBYN!!! :) Oh, and I'll check out Hercules And Love Affair just in case. I'll listen to snippets of Mariah's album on iTunes because I'm really curious. No way I would buy it right away without knowing what the sound is.

Sorry if people are like what the hell, but my mind goes in directions like this sometimes. View AttachmentView AttachmentNo, your post is understandable actually, although ultimately I don't know that I would take the 'sad' point of view here. What did Mariah's mom look like when she (her mom) was younger? A bit of a tangent, but I have a white friend with a biracial daughter, let's call them A and B. One day B made this out of the blue comment about how her mom was so pretty and B would never be that pretty since she doesn't look like A (although B actually has a lot of her mom's facial features, they just have different skin tone and hair). A of course freaked the hell out - B was only eight at the time! way too young to already be having that kind of self-doubt - and was like 'why would you say that honey, you're beautiful!' to which B responded 'because I'm not blonde and my skin is dark.' Oh, honey, a part of my heart died right then. A and I spent the next ten minutes explaining to B that while she appreciated B thinking she was beautiful, that didn't mean B was any less beautiful, and that beauty comes in all different shades. I didn't even really get the sense that B felt like she wasn't pretty at all, but she just was reflecting on the fact that she didn't look like the one person she adored more than anything else in this world. What little girl doesn't want to look like her mom, you know? So that in itself was understandable, but it was a scary thought b/c of how easy it can be to internalize that as you get older, especially with all the racial implications that may come along with it. I say all that to say that generally speaking, daughters instinctively look up to their mothers (and/or grandmothers, aunts, and other important women in their lives) as an idea of what a woman 'should' be. It may not have been an already-embedded insecurity issue so much as Mariah thinking 'when I grow up I want to look just like my mommy!' or something like that. When you have a biracial or multiracial child who favors the other parent's race more than she does yours, that can cause some confusion, but three is still young enough that maybe it had not dawned on Mariah yet that she was 'different.' Mariah herself said this was still at a time when her heart had not yet been broken so going on her word, there was likely no insecurity in this drawing...as it turns out she drew an eerily accurate adult portrait aside from the natural hair color which was easy enough for her to change, so maybe she was just prescient.

I Am Mariah Owen Pallett In Conflict I wonder why Mariah isn't also on May 26? Why not get that extra day of sales? Sam Smith does have some hype. I wonder why his album release is so far away when he's been performing all over as it is. The May 27 ones are interesting because Austin Mahone sampled "Always Be My Baby" on a song he's done in his shows, and Owen Pallett covered "Fantasy" in a live show.

View AttachmentView AttachmentI love your explanation but do you really expect from a 3-year-old to draw an exact self-portrait as if she's Picasso? Her hair was light brown which is not far off from the yellow pencil she used and the shape of her body is the typical shape we all used to draw for a female when we were toddlers.

Mariah is a master at getting people talking especially about album title and covers. That takes skill in itself I'm all in this time..

I am not saying that she was, but I am saying given Mariah's background you could analyze that drawing and inject a psychological discussion into it. It is just interesting that my mind wandered to that thought. Though a lot of this thought probably comes from my work as a teacher, where I often do analyze and think about the creative choices used by children and perhaps the nature of said creativity and where it might stem.

Yahoo picked this up as one of their top stories: the cover, drawing, and story behind it. She's really a master at getting people talking... No new music yet and people are already buzzing!

I mean, who knows what she was thinking when she drew that picture. At the end of the day, she had issues with her mixed heritage and was able to come to terms with them in adulthood. I think it would be a more thought provoking picture if she hadn't already spent so much of her career discussing the concept of internalized issues with race but since she has, does it even matter whether it started with a picture she drew when she was three?
I like the Deluxe edition cover picture more than the Standard but I wish her expression didn't look so tense. I actually dig the Charmbracelet teas...I always liked that as an album cover from her. I'm really wondering what this album is going to be like sonically. A lot of the song titles seem like they could go in a lot of different directions. I really hope that DemBabies are limited to a Blue-esque cameo...if she somehow interpolates them into the chorus or something I'll be so annoyed. We didn't wait 5 years to hear your ridiculously named children wail on your ridiculously named album Mimi!
I'm also pleasantly surprised at the positive reception this is getting. It kind of feels like she's settling comfortably into legend status in a way only Mariah could: by hilariously ignoring the obvious fact that she's been in the game for 24 years.

Keep in mind, Mariah grew up hardly knowing her father. It's kind of easy to favor your mother when you're raised by her and your father is totally absent from your life. I don't see that necessarily as her favoring her Caucasian heritage at age 3.
Anyway, she should do some kind of 'I'm special in my own weird way and love myself" type of campaign with "Me. I am _____". The mainstream will eat that s**t up.

I am here for Stripperiah! I need that nasty I have been taken to the club floor and rubbed up against everyone on the dance floor and now I need a shower feeling and probably already got pregnant from listening to it club banger. Mariah is the only person I know who could probably put a stripper and then a take me to church song on the same album and make it work !
