The only one I liked was Migrate didn't like the others. I recall I really hated the vocals on all of them but Migrate.

Can I just put it out there that when she tries to go all hood rat she sounds awful. She just doesn't have the urban swag like Beyonce does. Like her worst track in my mind is that Rainbow turd Did I Do That. She has plenty of urban tracks that are strong you just pulled out one of her worst recorded songs of any nature as a example. I also wouldn't consider it hood rat sound.

"Did I Do That?" isn't bad and would likely be improved with remastering or something. I'd also love to get Mystikal edited out.

Hey now- "Migraine" is my title. One of my least favorites on E=MC2.

"Migrate" is a song I wish she'd perform on tours. I know "It's Like That" is the standard opener, but I always thought "Migrate" was a better song. I'm sure there's room for both.

Both of this songs are rubbish. Sorry. If they come on, they won't get skipped but that's about it. I can't think of a time in history where I have actively sought out either one, even during ILT's run.

It's Like That has really held up for me. The "them chickens is ash and I'm lotion" line alone is a classic Mimi moment imo and the song is so fun and breezy. Just like IBLULT. Migrate is alright. It isn't bad or amazing like I've seen it hailed, but it is a decent song and might've been able to get her #19 if the label had released it.

"Migraine" was not like a "Dreamlover" or "Fantasy," so I doubt top 40 radio would have given it nearly as much play. It may have gotten some decent rhythmic and urban play, though, but it just wasn't a great track (for me).
"It's Like That" is infinitely better and easier on the ears.

There is no more 'Island Def Jam Records' - they have been dissolved back into stand alone labels. I wonder what that means for Mariah's upcoming album? "Island, under David Massey, will expand its own marketing, publicity and A&R departments with a dedicated focus on rock, alternative and pop. Island will also have the ability to draw upon the promotional resources of Monte Lipman’s Republic." www.hitsdailydouble.com/news/newsPage.cgi?news09806

Mess. I can't wait for details from the listening party. I just hope they don't go with the big ballad or cover that gets a lot of attention at the listening party as they did with the last two albums.

We can also blame listening parties for the last minute decision to release "Boy (I Need You)".

Will an album title finally be announced? Was something else supposed to be the second Charmbracelet single?

I love both The One and Boy (I Need You). With Boy, I'm biased because I loved Cam's original and it's basically the same song with Mariah cooing along.

Mariah is probably on the Island label, not on Def Jam. Probably does not spell good news for her, and I'd imagine it's the last bit of convincing she needs to jump ship after this project.

I wonder if she'll attempt a third imprint after jumping ship. RIP to Crave and MonarC.

Ahh, I do recall talk of "The One" now that I think about it. Didn't care much for that album, so my memories are fuzzy.

"Migrate" is a jam. I love the layered production. I also find it catchy, and my friends and I use the "migrate" line/word a lot when we're out. It should have been the 2nd single. I really loved the version with live instruments for those MTV commercials because it showed that it's a stronger song that one might think.

I never saw that commercial with Migrate, but yeah...Migrate does sound much better in a live setting. I still love Love Story, especially in the commercial segment. @ those ones with JJ/Snoop. I actually never saw those!

The commercials she did for MTV that era were phenomenal; the live instruments on the song clips were stellar, and the commercials with Snoop were hilarious and really poked fun at her image (I don't think she gets nearly enough credit for having a sense of humor about herself). Here is a compilation of most if not all of the commercials ("Migrate" at 0:45 in): www.youtube.com/watch?v=g801XSSJaEcMy favorite Snoop commercial is probably the treadmill one (4:00 in), or maybe the reality show one with the amazing quote "You can have a small part...if you lose the robe. This ain't Nickelodeon, baby." Actually, that isn't quite all of the commercials because I remember one with Snoop talking about mom jeans, and there were performance ones with "Thanx For Nothin'" that aren't included. :ETA: Ok I found the link with all of them: www.youtube.com/watch?v=IcAknE7hcf8Meanwhile, I was listening to "Long Ago" and wondered if was meant to be a deconstruction of fairy tales lyrically. It starts with the proverbial fairy tale line "Once upon a time..." (just like "HATEU"), and it even mentions "fairy tales" in the next part. Then the last line of the first verse mentions being "swept up" and "carried away," which is a fairy tale/princess kind of image. And then the part about coming to her window is fairy tale-esque, too (think Rapunzel).

I'm so glad there is a Mariah Carey thread here! I was just telling one of her fans from twitter that she is very sweet in person. Her pores leave a lot to be desired, but I hear she's coming out with a new skin cream and will be packaging it with her album. In case any of you were wondering about the delay, it's still in development.
The working title is ashy to flashy.

Even if the album is sub-par, I can't wait for the new skin cream. I'm a Black and genetically am prone to really ashy skin. Only a true legend like Mariah would look out for the struggling Negros of the world. :'(

I think Mariah would sound great on a song that sounds like and has a MESSAGE like Tamar Braxton's "TIP TOE". What do you think? I hope the next single sounds like this.
