John Legend- an act who has had minimal success since his debut- is not an example that Mimi can be compared to. Plus, he's a dude in his mid-30s. It is getting near crunch time in terms of the album release date- how long does it take to press the CDs and such? It would need a name, unless they're going to say "Untitled."

I'm still at a loss how each of Mariah's recent singles tank in sales (#beautiful the exception). have all her fans simply abandoned her?

I'm relaxed, Nick, was just making an observation. :)
blue nosed- most acts simply cannot maintain the same level of commercial interest they had in the past.

...and "Make It Look Good".
Almost every song we know about was originally recorded in 2012. She's tinkered with them several times though. "You're Mine" didn't originally have the "eternal" vocals, for example.

She probably recorded more than 100 songs for this album. I don't know but this lack of news... I've hope we don't get another push back.

I really don't think she recorded that many songs. She's just been playing around with the same songs. We've known about a few of these songs forever. I heard around the time "Triumphant" was released that she had only recorded about 3 songs at that point. Most of her recent studio time has been spent working on old songs, not recording new ones. Even though we only recently found out about "Thirsty," that one's from 2012 as well.

Her record company is not going to let her push this back anymore. I am sure the powers that be want to throttle her already.

Yeah, I don't think there'd be much benefit of pushing the album back yet again. I wouldn't imagine a drastic change in first-week sales if this were released in May vs August.

No way she recorded 100 songs. Or even 50. As has been said, she recorded like 12-15 for the initial intended release. She didn't make that deadline, and then she ended up adding the 3 songs (2 covers) she mentioned to MTV or whomever. So, yeah, most of the recording has been for the same songs. It's like Michael Jackson stuff with all of the tinkering.
If the album is pushed back, it won't be because the label thinks there is some "benefit." It would be because Mariah doesn't finish the album in time. The label has spent a ton of money in terms of production and promotion. They definitely want it out ASAP.

" You Y'all Don't Know What To It Do" This has Jermaine all over it, LOL. It is one of the Jermaine tracks. So are "Thirsty" and "Make It Look Good". She did all of them with him in 2012, along with "Triumphant" and "You're Mine".

I thought it was confirmed that Darkchild did You're Mine and Hit-Boy was rumored to have done Thirsty. This era is such a mess that people don't even know who worked on what.

Got the songs wrong. "Make it Look Good," "You Don't Know What To Do," and "Supernatural" are Jermaine. "Dedicated" and "Thirsty" are Hit Boy I believe.

I remember on that conference call in 2012 she said she wasn't following any trends (ie: not doing dance/EDM), that she was staying faithful to her musical roots (ie: R&B/Soul) and that it would be great if music could go back to what it was like in the 70's & 80's, when R&B songs didn't have to crossover. If she stuck with that mindset and the new record is basically a fusion of old-school and modern urban music, then I think it could turn out pretty good... hopefully...

Kesha cover? Please- we all know it's a cover of Madge's B-side gem from 1989. Much like her rumored-to-be-covering "Burning Up" for Glitter. If Mimi requested the album get pushed back again, that would truly test island's patience, no doubt. On a side note- I wonder if reports of Mimi not being pleased with Nick's shenanigans have merit. Wouldn't surprise me.

Mariah and Nick seem to exist in their own worlds, to an extent. I doubt she pays much attention to his shenanigans, unless they are directly related to her.

Can I just put it out there that when she tries to go all hood rat she sounds awful. She just doesn't have the urban swag like Beyonce does. Like her worst track in my mind is that Rainbow turd Did I Do That.
