So the latest offering from the woman whose debut single was Vision of Love is Thirsty ? Unbelievable. I possibly dont know a lot about whats hot in the states but seriously Yall think this is gonna be a hit track ?? It reminds me of that tip toe mess by Tamar Braxton ... In the States this has everything that would work for it to be a hit here. Now internationally, this would more than likely flop, but weirder things have happened. |

Anyways, Thirsty is essentially Migrate Part 2. (though more urban leaning) with a bit of an Obsessedesque sound minus the excessive auto tune and I'm okay with that, since it's such a hot sound for her. |

What parts of "Thirsty" are like "Migrate?" If it sounds like any Mariah song to me, it's "Heat." I think it's fairly unique in her catalog, though. That synth line isn't reminiscent of anything she's done. The song structure is a bit unique because it has a pre-chorus and an outro hook. And then the ending when the strings come pounding in and the song gets dramatic isn't something she's done much of.

"Migrate" is about club-hopping while "Thirsty" is about a man mis-treating a girl because he's hungry for celebrity. If you mean in terms of production, I think "Thirty" is akin to "Heat" because of the synth line (the synth lines in both songs are a bit 'menacing') and also the chord change. "Migrate" doesn't have the same changes in production. I find "Thirsty" more like "Heat" lyrically, too, because they are both going in on someone. And on top of that the "What makes you think you fly enough to take my man" part has the staccato feel of the "Ya thirsty" refrain. Having said all of that, I don't think "Thirsty" is a copy of "Heat" by any means; I just get a similar vibe from the two tracks. "Migrate" seems more laid-back to me. |

It's a lot more complex than some of the simple loops she's been using the past decade. |
