Her best single since Obsessed imo, very commercial. (#Beautiful is still good though) if radio doesn't play this, then it's a crime! Hopefully Mariah makes a great music video for this.

theedge12- Today airs from 7 to 9 a.m. Eastern time- I believe the performances usually air between the 8:30-9 half-hour. And at times, there's an extra performance on the continuation of the show after that initial two hours.

Basically Thirsty is just a tool to boost album sales, the track has been serviced to Urban and Rhythmic stations, but Def Jam has made it very clear this is NOT the new single, just so-called "Focus Track". They will announce the official new single right after album release. Where have they made this clear?

Not looking forward to whatever she's planning to perform on Friday. Since it's three songs, it'll probably be two old tunes (ABMB and WBT) and Thirsty would sound terrible in that setting, so..... You're Mine? Knowing her, though, she'll mumble/whisper through Thirsty's lyrics with 5 backup singers and no one understanding a word of what's being "sung".
Either way, it's a wasted opportunity. What's the purpose? Pre-orders?

She performed on GMA last year, when the album-release date was a couple of months away (if the July 23 date had even been announced by that time- it may not have been).

With Thirsty being tossed out she may surprise us and perform a new song during the Today Show. She could be pon de studio to get that vocal track right...

It will be interesting. Not sure what she will perform. It is supposed to rain supposedly, so probably won't be a good situation all around. I am expecting Art Of Letting Go, ABMB and probably Shake It Off (as it is relatively easy for her to perform and she gets into that song). The smarter set list would be to include Fantasy as that always gets people excited for summer, WBT and probably #Beautiful, so she at least performs a song from the album.

Think the vid isn't gonna be typical Mariah at all. Its gonna be glam shots of Mariah touching herself covered in glitter while everyone is twerking around her.

Just a note: I believe that total for #B" was for the first seven days. Once it eventually peaked outside of the airplay promo, I think the peak got close to that (67m or so Mediabase).
For BDS-info purposes, #B" peaked at around 54m, at No. 17 Hot 100 Airplay (No. 14 that week had 57m).

And she did ABMB, WBT, and Beautiful. I'm expecting the same thing, but rotate out B and rotate in YM(E). She's never premiered a new track at one of these morning shows (probably because her voice is always pretty bad at these times/venues), and Thirsty isn't even available on iTunes. I could see Thirsty because it'd be vocally easy and it's already been heard. Her thing about wanting the album to be heard as a whole baffles me. Has no one told her that we've heard Beautiful, You're Mine, Thirsty, Betcha Gon Know, It's a Wrap, The Art of Letting Go? That's darn near half the album.

Album is up to #35 on iTunes.
I hope the REAL single is an uptempo in the vain of thirsty...not another sappy ballad.

No way she will perform "TAOLG" since it isn't even on the main edition of the album. I hope the REAL single is an uptempo in the vain of thirsty...not another sappy ballad. Where are people getting that "Thirsty" isn't a single?

But guess you can get all details with official press release for Thirsty, you will also get to know the full album will be available for streaming on iTunes "First Play" starting from May 20.

I have a question: if Thirsty ISN'T the single, why is there already a remix? And why is Slate.com premiering a new remix tomorrow?

This is Mariah, execution hasn't been her strongest suit during the second half of her career. Sometimes she has great intentions, but rather than take her time and do things right, she doesn't and it shows in the final product. So, I wouldn't be surprised if she performed Art Of Letting Go or Shake It Off for that matter. It is one of my biggest pet peeves about Mariah in the second half of her career is her poor execution of ideas. She has been Half-Assriah for the second half of her career and it shows in her videos, performances, and even in her material at times. She doesn't take the time to think about whether what she is doing is going to be the best use of her time and money. She doesn't think well if I perform this song will it get me the results I want. If I make a video like this, will it get me the results that I want. In the end, as much as making a profit is important to a record company, being able to make sure the expense side is being managed well and making the most out of what you are spending is just as crucial.

With the combination of finally(!) having a pre-order banner on iTunes(color me surprised) and Thirsty doing its thing the album is holding up pretty well. She needs to hold off that cute kid Mahone for a chance to debut at #1.

I am wondering if this confusion is Mariah wanting Thirsty as the single, and her record company wanting something else, so she released Thirsty taking it out of their hands. I can see there being a butting of heads on the direction to go if Mariah gave them a varied album. I think Thirsty was the smart way to go in terms of getting a jump on the summer jam start before everyone starts putting out their summer fare. A great video is key to getting this project really going. Another sh!tastic video ala You're Mine is not going to cut it regardless of what the single is. She needs something to sustain talk and interest in this album. She will need an album selling single to follow up Thirsty though as I can see Thirsty having a short, but hopefully great lifespan. I don't think she will have an issue getting a number 1 album as long as she performs something that is album selling worthy before the release.

^Thank you. 'That' most likely explains the abrupt 200 place jump into the top 40 lol. I know Thirsty came out but didn't think that alone was what caused the dramatic increase in sales.

Mariah wanted the more Urban Thirsty out there and they probably want another track as the "official" label backed single. Five years ago this would have been a potential disaster of a situation. But many acts release 3-4 tracks before the album is out to increase interest. I think urban will eat up Thirsty, and they can go for a more multi-format single in June. It's a compromise I bet, but at least we got the song. I love it!

In the Thirsty article, they say they will premiere a "never-before-heard remix of a track from Mariah's new album" - could it be the resung dance remix of Beautiful that Mariah was playing in her voicemail message way-back-when...??

The source is Slant, not Slate...no? Anyway, they just said a remix of a song from the album, so it could be a remix of any of the 4 songs, I presume. Are we sure she even finished that "#B" dance remix? I think it's odd it never came out. She's done well on the dance chart, so it would have at least gone there if completed, I assume.
