D not know who is that guy I also happened to have a romance on the roof top of the building in Rome where I lived I actually wrote my own song/lyrics to the music of the song THE ROOF if you are interested ... He's a very, very famous baseball player in the States. Sure, let's see the lyrics. I thought I had the lyrics typed but I do not I have for Side Effects inspired song... Anyways, if you have time and do not mind can you tell why you like these 2 songs so much! would love to hear |

Ranking songs is too much of a difficulty for me- it would be so messy and hard to really choose. I can't even pick my favorite and least favorite.

I'm here for some more James Poyser and "Big Jim" Wright sh*t. I love all the songs they've done with Mariah. :'(
At least one has some songs on this album. Can't wait to hear "Cry." and "Camouflage".

Mariah will receive the Pop Icon Award at the World Music Awards on the day the album comes out, so some good press to go with this album  ! She will be opening the show apparently. So, I guess that means a performance. I was also thinking. It might be smart for her to debut a single live as she can play with the structure and vocal styling if she needed to, and we would be none the wiser to how it was supposed to sound originally until the album came out. |

I still love it and all, but I'll take the original. That's so interesting to me because they aren't all that alike to me apart from being fun "uptempos." They have a different song structure/melody, and the production on "Fantasy" has more layers. I can see "Heartbreaker" being similar to either one because it's basically a combo of the two, but I don't see how "Fantasy" is similar to "Dreamlover." |

Boy (just because as a single it was so WRONG...You Got Me would have been miles better)
If We (I actually kinda like it, but it sounds all patched together and unfinished - a lot of the Glitter soundtrack sounds like that)
I've Been Thinking About You - very...choppy or something. Tries to recreate Emotions C&C uptempos and somewhat fails.
Now That I Know - loved it then, feels horribly dated and very 1993 now.

Random thought...back in 95-96 I was a member of some sort of listserv type of thing, and there was a hardcore fan campaign to make When I Saw You a single...anyone remember that by chance? (I was very much NOT on team WISY)
There was also a big scandal that you could kinda see a little cleavage in the ABMB video...lol...

Even as a kid when I obsessed over Mariah's debut, I didn't like the non-singles except Vanishing, which STILL ranks among my all-time favorite Mariah songs. I wish I could still find my cassette tape when I recorded VoL when it premiered on radio. That opening just had me enthralled immediately. But yeah, her debut is the only album of hers where I can't tell you the melody or structure of a majority of the songs.  I do vaguely remember liking Prisoner and All In Your Mind back then. Emotions was kind of a big deal for me back then, but Music Box, even more so. I found my Music Box cassette tape a couple months ago. Crazy. That C&C Music Factory sound definitely did not age well for me so I pretty much only use her ballads from her 2nd and 3rd albums, with the exception of You're So Cold. That intro alone kills me with those deep notes. To Be Around You was one of my favorite songs as a kid so I know it pretty much inside and out but I am never in the mood to hear it. If it pops up on shuffle, I would never skip it. In fact, I don't think I would skip any song of Mariah's if it popped up on shuffle. The one-two punch of Never Forget You and Without You STAYED on repeat and I would sing them as rehearsal for vocal competitions in HS, especially Never Forget You because of the runs at the end. Because I love Genius of Love by the Tom Tom Club, I initially preferred the original Fantasy but once Wu-Tang's debut album hit and I first heard ODB, I was so obsessed with them that I loved the remix, even though it took out the section I loved. UGH. I can talk about this woman ALL DAY. I can't wait for the new album so I can have some new songs to dissect and obsess over. I hope the dark ballads are torchy, like Vision of Love, Vanishing, and So Blessed. That style fits her so well. Edit: NO to DFAU. It's what started the Attack of the WBT Clones so I no longer use. Even though it's the original clone, it's not even the best. Even Bye Bye is better For the record, so is I Stay In Love AND Angels Cry. The whistle in DFAU is kinda cool tho. |
