Stoked for this MB30 moment, either way! I was staring to lose hope that she would serve us anything, lol. “There can be miracles When you believe Though hope is frail, it's hard to kill Who knows what miracles you can achieve?” Great News! Everything was so calm and boring, finally some good exciting news in lamb land!

It would be cool if that ‘studio’ version of “I’ll Be There” that was on the NBC special was included. It’s from the Music Box era/Proctor’s Special and is on YouTube but has never been released in audio form to stream or download..

That would be an incredible addition to this. I'm really surprised it's never surfaced.

Never seen this performance before… Amazing! Hold up. What if "My Prayer" is a cover? That song length has had my interest piqued, and it would fit this song (and explain the lack of a song with that title being registered with Mariah as a writer): I'd actually love to her her vocal on this song if that's the case. 🤔 hmmm, I wouldn’t be mad AT ALL if thats the case. Mariah’s Music Box vocals with that song could be dynamite.

That song would also fit on Music Box stylistically as well. Pretty cool find, jenglisbe!

Ma'am! If you don't come off of that tracklist already.

I can never seem to get her website to open on any device. Does anyone else have that problem?

Not sure if it was mentioned, but the "Big Energy" remix has surpassed 100 million plays on Spotify and is still in her top 10. That's a pretty big win in my book.

Correct me if I’m wrong. I just don’t want to get too excited until I make sure this is real. Is she releasing un-heard music from the Music Box era?

What about Tiffany and Debbie Gibson? They were pretty much done by 1990, so right or wrong that is viewed as a separate trend. Having said that, Shanice and Tevin Campbell were teens having hits in the early 1990s and Brandy came right after them. We also had teen acts like Kriss Kross and Another Bad Creation in the early 1990s. The 'teen pop' trend in the late 1990s could be seen as a continuation of all of that, but yeah still not crediting Brandy and Monica specifically. Social media (and Twitter in particular) has really failed us when it comes to historical and cultural context. Stans have some retroactive fantasy they want to create, and people who weren't even around at the time things happened want to tell people how things went down.

Yeah, that post is missing so much context. No offense to Aaliyah, Brandy, Monica, because they clearly had a reach and artists they influenced. But they had very little to do with the teen pop boom of the late 90's, early 2000's.

What about Tiffany and Debbie Gibson? You're missing the point. Christina Aguilera (and, to some extent, Britney) were more influenced by soulful singers. While I'm sure they listened to some pop singers like Tiffany and Debbie Gibson, they were students of R&B singers, at least vocally. If you are looking for someone who is a disciple of Debbie Gibson and Tiffany, you would have to look to an artist like Carly Rae Jepson.

Epic vocal snippet from MC: This sounds like it's from a BOP, or at least a remix. I'm hoping it's a C&C song we haven't heard, but I'm also trying not to get my hopes up ha.

Hell, all you have to do is YouTube their performances from the MMC. Christina and Britney were singing Aretha, Whitney, and Chaka, not Tiffany.

Also, you can't say "What about Tiffany and Debbie Gibson" when that article literally starts with Christina's producer saying who she was listening to at the time of making her record. It literally is what it is. If those artists were listening to Tiffany and Debbie Gibson, he would have said so, but...he didn't, so they weren't. It's really that simple.

This, but he also mentions that she was listening to Mariah, and Christina has said Mariah and Whitney were big influences so it wasn't just teens who influenced her anyway. I wish instead of stans trying to shoehorn in things about their faves, they would do a little research and rely on people who were there. It's certainly true the 'teen pop' stars of the late 1990s were influenced musically by R&B singers, but in terms of the marketing it was its own thing (aided in large part by TRL). Anyway surely we will get a tracklist or something for the deluxe soon since it's out in 5 days. It would be cool if MC did a different snippet or something each day. I'm definitely perched.

No way is that album out in 5 days. I’m sure the promo said “starts 9/8” (I’m too lazy to check back). Which means we’ll get a countdown to an announcement of an invite to pre-order the album.
No one knows quite how to waste some announcement buzz like Mariah and her team. She’s already done it twice for the Somebody’s Ugly Daughter album.

Yeah...considering the fact that the only reference to MB30 on her site is that damn speaker, she is def not dropping on Friday.

The promo video says "Out 9/8." Maybe the digital version is out on Friday, with the physical product available to order then? If it's only the pre-order, then they definitely should have used a different word than "Out." Mariah has been her own worst enemy since leaving Sony. Nearly every album has been delayed, and other announcements never came to fruition.

Maybe you're right then and it'll be available on digital first, which seems like a terrible move to me. Yeah...considering the fact that the only reference to MB30 on her site is that damn speaker, she is def not dropping on Friday. And that's hidden away in the store. Her main website is still referencing Butterfly25 with no mention of the Music Box anniversary at all (other than the appearance of her instagram post about it). Me: I need to spend all my money on #MusicBox30! mariahcarey.com:

^No way 'Dreamlover' video gets made today. Shirtless black men in a cornfield would definitely get the career-outragers attention!

I love the friendship they had; their dynamic together was always fun. I still don't love "When You Believe," but I can appreciate it a lot now. At least we got the two of them together on a recording that showcased their talents well. Anyway I've been listening to Music Box a lot the last few days. It's really a showcase of vocal and melody. I re-arranged the tracklist to include all of the songs from that era: 1. Dreamlover 2. Endless Love 3. Anytime You Need A Friend 4. Music Box 5. Now That I Know 6. Do You Think of Me 7. Never Forget You 8. Without You 9. Hero 10. I've Been Thinking About You 11. All I Live For 12. Just to Hold You Once Again 13. All I've Ever Wanted 14. Everything Fades Away

This has to be it. It wreaks of this song being a Tommy favorite from the 50s that he made her cover at the time, but ultimately not ending up on the album. (No shade to the Platters, who made some great old school bops. Look up Great Pretender and You’ll Never Know, kids) At least the song has a big range she could probably have some fun with

First of all, I love how he can't even keep up with all that is going on with the vocal arrangement. This song is lit. Also, "Tommy Tomato" took me OUT lmao!
