So I know the Proctor show was televised and released on video back in the day. What songs did they film that didn't make the televised special/video? The for the first time, my "full concert" verbiage is making it sound like we're getting stuff that didn't air.

I'm not sure I know what else was performed, but the tweet certainly implies there was more. Were any of the songs cut short for the special? OMG y'all! New song "Workin' Hard" along with a remix of it and a remix of "IBTAY" yes! I wonder if the remixes are from back then, or if they're new. I'm thinking new a la "Higher Love," plus didn't Hunter remix "Break My Soul" and a fairly new Mary J Blige song?

I've never been crazy about Proctor's as it was overly dubbed, but having the HQ audio rip will be a nice addition.
I hope they cut the tracks right, meaning the beginning of the song also has the spoken intro instead of it being on the previous track. I hated that for both Tokyo Dome and St. John Divine.

I don't really care about the extended tracks unless there's heavenly vocals. The remixes could be hit or miss and of course there are the tracks we already have. But the fact that we're getting so much is BANANAS after a Rarities album. |

Interesting, makes me wonder if Workinâ Hard was ever considered for the album at one point and got scrapped, since it has a remix. How exciting! Iâm really curious to know what collaborations exist and were vaulted. I mean if Mariah can pull off a secret album, who knows what other secrets she really has. Girl better have some collaboration with Prince somewhere in that vault ready to go someday.

I doubt Prince and Mariah have a completed collab. I mean...he didn't even like her cover of TBO. Maybe they could have collabed before, but...I just don't see it. I think he gave her good career advice and that's about it.
That's cool that we are getting a couple new songs and some remixes/live stuff, but I am just greedy and want even more completely new songs that have never been heard before. Basically, I want a Rarities Pt. 2, but hey, since I don't even have Music Box on CD, I will take what I can get!

Hold up apparently the "WH" remix was already premiered: I'm betting the two Terry Hunter remixes are new a la the new remixes of "Higher Love" and others. That's cool that we are getting a couple new songs and some remixes/live stuff, but I am just greedy and want even more completely new songs that have never been heard before. Basically, I want a Rarities Pt. 2, I get that, but in the age of streaming it honestly makes more sense to just tack songs onto the album they were meant for because those streams then count for that album and help its certification. If they'd done that for MC30 instead of doing The Rarities, then the debut would be getting the streams for "HWGAA" and maybe help get it to Diamond (for example). As for the Prince song/songs, she wrote about that in her memoir. She did go to Paisley Park with a song in mind, but she wrote that she never finished it. It would be cool if she did finish it for her next album or something. |

If I am right about it being that cover song, if the production is more in line with that era the song might actually fit Emotions better. Considering the lyrics, "Workin' Hard" is giving me Off the Wall vibes and I'd love if the production is in that lane. More so I am just interested to see it's general style. Music Box has a lot of 'extra' tracks, and they're all interesting musically. At the same time, I do see where they would change the overall tone of the album. I do love how varied her first 4 albums are; each has their own sound. The debut is very of its time and in that 80s diva mode (Whitney, Taylor Dayne, etc). Emotions wears its old school R&B influences well and stands out in her catalog even now. Music Box is her AC/Celine album. Daydream is then the album where she started identifying her own sound/template, and it felt modern yet also classic and timeless. |

I canât really hear what Mariah is saying in that clip but the part at the 0:25 mark reminds me of Michaelâs Wanna Be Startinâ Something. The new songs are out in some countries since it's Friday there. Some notes I've read:
1. "My Prayer" is a cover of the song The Platters (and others) did.
2. "Workin' Hard" is a BOP. She worked on it with C&C!
3. The "All I Live For" on the bonus disc has different vocals from the version on Rarities! Supposedly the Rarities version sounds like a demo compared to this one.

The vocal at the end of "My Prayer" reminds me of the end of "Vanishing." I'm digging the cover and it's a cool addition to her catalog, but I also see why it was left off the album as it doesn't fit the sound of the album. It would sound more appropriate on Emotions.

I think when I hear the finale of Never Forget You on vinyl and remastered for the first time, I will cry. The day that album dropped, I got it on cassette tape and omg when I first heard it, I was so shook. I never really got into Now That I Know, but the rest of that album is pure perfection and it will take me back.

Vinyl is live. Go get it. The way I hopped on that vinyl faster than most of you hoes hop on dick. Don't LOVE the price (It's basically $113 with tax and shipping) but for all the content, I would do it all over again. I hope it comes soon. Also, I wonder about the packaging. It looks kinda plain on the site or at least doesn't say it comes in any cool box like the Butterfly special vinyl did. It doesn't even look like it has the full pic that the digital version has, but I'm sure it will at least be in the insert or something. Anyway, yessssss! |

âAll I Live Forâ sounds amazing. Now it truly sounds complete and it slays.
âWorkinâ Hardâ is groovy. The vocals remind me of Aretha in parts. The remix is a total bop. Amazing!
âMy Prayerâ is so Music Box. Stunning vocal performance! I can see why they would leave it out though since they already had another, more showy cover, Without You. Although My Prayer is understated, itâs still so beautiful. I love it. Iâm such a fan of that sound.

Seeing the tracklist in full, it's kind of a mess, haha. And there's definitely wasted space. But I'm so happy with some of this stuff I don't care. The new "All I Have" is definitely an improvement, "Workin Hard" is super fun and "My Prayer" is another lovely waltz ballad in the vein of "So Blessed" and "Forever." And as I stated earlier, been wanting a full AYNAF with no fade for ages, so glad to have it because it's my favorite Mariah song. Really digging the Terry Hunter mixes as well.
I wonder when this is gonna ship? Also bummed she's not using the full pic for the cover. That shot is so gorgeous.

My goodness they really left some of the best songs of this era off this album. These bonus tracks + All I Live For + Everything Fades Away Iâd rather have them on the original album than some of the other ballads that made the cut (looking at you All Iâve Ever Wanted, Just to Hold You Once Again)
