That’s my first time seeing her with that white woman. She looks gorgeous she’s actually getting more and more gorgeous now that #MariahSZN is approaching. 😊
And no, Mariah + Tanaka no more. Unfortunately. They made such a good pair and I loved how low-key they were, but alas it wasn’t meant to be I guess.

The song truly slays now. Incredible It’s crazy how superior this new version is. They did it dirty by simply calling it “Extended Version” 😏

The song truly slays now. Incredible This is pretty cool...I wonder if they are new vocals, or if they just had a bunch of different takes to choose from?

He gives more of the story if you click on the interview. He's also asked about doing background vocals on some songs, including "Melt Away." I've never felt like I hear Babyface on "MA," except for one random "you."
He talks about "When You Believe," too; both how it showcased them both, and the label stuff.

It's only been speculation at this point because they don't post pics of each other on social media, but they still follow each other.

I always love her random shots when she isn’t all glammed up. It is such a flex and serve.

Sweet! I wonder if she’s going to add a new Christmas song that she has written or a new cover, or even her version of WAYC (finally), to the setlist? I’m expecting pretty much the same show as last year’s Merry Christmas To All, if not.

This is very good news - so glad that Mariah is touring again!
I'm not even mad that there's no news of an album. As long as the next album is more contemporary and has at least one collaboration with a popular/current artist, I'll be happy even if we have to wait. "Popular" is certainly helping Madonna in terms of streaming, so if Mariah has a similar type of collaboration, that could definitely help in the non-X-mas months.

Can she at least promise us a new album for next year. Because it'll be 6 years since 'Caution' and at this point I'll take any news.

I was watching the new Hot Ones with N Sync, and JC (the actual best member of the group) noted that in its day a #1 on TRL was bigger than a #1 on the Hot 100. I don't know if that's true, but TRL was certainly a huge pop culture thing. I was just reviewing all of the videos that hit #1 on TRL, and I had completely forgotten that "Through the Rain" and "Say Somethin'" hit #1. Wow. The Mariah videos to hit #1 on TRL:
Through the Rain It's Like That We Belong Together (her first to get more than one day at #1 and it was the TRL Video of the Year) Shake It Off (multiple days at #1) Don't Forget About Us (multiple days at #1) Say Somethin' (multiple days at #1) Touch My Body (multiple days at #1)
"Heartbreaker" didn't hit #1, but I do remember it hit retirement for spending so many days in the top 10 (65 days was the requirement at that time).
I think TRL really contributed to standom as a thing because it really brought fans together as a community, but also a community that was competing with other communities. TRL was also great because pop, rock, and R&B were all represented, but it was also very niche in that MTV was niche. 106 & Park of course also became huge in the early 2000s and would air for more than a decade.

Not surprised in the least. I don't even know any Mariah fans down here, let alone lambs.

The comeback + no competition from the peak of popularity for the boy bands/Britney/Christina certainly helped clear the lane to No. 1 on TRL in the mid 2000s! I too remember "Heartbreaker" being on there a lot, but it was usually stuck behind the logjam the aforementioned artists created at the top all the time. I don't necessarily disagree with JC, because at the time we know that the most popular songs in the country didn't always hit No. 1 on the Hot 100 because of the chart rules. Their labels usually didn't make their songs widely available as singles. When I think of "I Want it That Way" or "Bye Bye Bye" -- either of those would've easily been No. 1 on the Hot 100 if they were widely available as commercial singles. It's the same chart rules that Mariah used to her benefit because, for all of SONY's issues, they really did a good job of timing Mariah's single releases to maximize her chart position on the Hot 100 for some of her songs. "Thank God I Found You," for instance.

It was def a force and she was present throughout; however, Total Request was actually popular as well before it became “Live” and that dates back to the Butterfly album, I believe. So in terms of Total Request/TRL “hits”, the list is probably even longer. Not even sure where to find that info, though.

Their labels usually didn't make their songs widely available as singles. Yeah it wasn't the chart rules, it was that the labels didn't release physical singles. Even when Billboard started allowing airplay-only songs to chart (which happened just before the peak of 90s teen pop), boy bands still weren't often getting #1s because physical singles weren't available. To that end I get what you mean and perhaps it is what JC meant. Ironically NSync were the only 'boy band' to get a #1 since "It's Gonna Be Me" was released as a physical single and got 2 weeks at #1. It sales weren't overly high, though, so I assume it was a limited single. Do you know? And yes JamaicaFunk², I definitely remember "My All" being on Total Request. According to Wikipedia that show debuted in April 1998.
