Sent From Up Above doesn’t get enough respect around these parts.

These incidents were both after Katy's "throwback" comment. Mariah wasn't offended and neither was I. Besides, I never took that comment as an insult.

No. I'm all for her branching out and working with new producers, but he's not one of them.
The way she described her album/songs in the Variety interview is definitely interesting. She "thinks" she's excited about it, is picking which songs to do and which not to do, says some songs are one specific kind of way while others aren't and doesn't want to put the wrong idea out there. It doesn't sound like Caution 2.0.
She's not always accurate in describing her albums, so I get why she doesn't want to say too much. When she said E=MC2 was a party album, that was only half-true. I don't remember how she described her other albums though.

I don't see her doing anything with Ryan Tedder or Greg Kurstin, because they are much more pop/rock oriented than I can see her going.

OMG a 12-minute club remix of something from her new album done by Honey Dijon with re-recorded vocals sounds amazing!!

I need a new album like now Ms. Carey. We are being too quiet which makes me suspicious. I hope that means a lot of work is going in to completing this new album.

This seems so random, though it has better streaming in general than you'd think:
:ETA: Ok so maybe this is why:
E=MC2 and Memoirs stay trending!

Good for you. Go listen to that flop. Ooooh...this is spicy. One would even say...borderline baiting/trolling. Calm down, homie. This level of heat was not needed. Why would Mariah want to work with him? Does he produce R&B? She worked with people like Skrillex and Stargate who don’t typically produce R&B, so… I definitely want Mariah to branch out and, while I am a Jack Antonoff stan, he is not the guy for Mariah.

See, I was listening to "Espresso" (too lazy to check right now that song's production credits but isn't Jack producing Sabrina's new music? ) and thinking Mariah would kill a song in that vein*, hence why I posted this. Frankly, I don't think Mariah would realistically work with him and I, personally as a lamb, there's a handful of others I'd rather her work with first, but anyway... news is slow as hell in Mariah land right now, so I thought I might as well start a discussion.
*and before any of y'all cringe at the mention of Sabrina Carpenter in relation to Mariah, that song is a disco-funk-pop upbeat jam not dissimilar to the kind of uptempos Mariah does herself on occasion and nails. 😁

A guy named Julian Bunetta produced it. He's worked on a lot of One Direction songs. I notice he also co-produced Teddy Swims' "Lose Control," which is also a style Mariah could do well. I don't think Bunetta would stick out to Mariah, but who knows? Ammo co-produced "Lose Control" and also worked on Katy Perry's "E.T." and Beyonce's "Pretty Hurts." I don't know if being on the "yes and?" remix would open Mariah up to working with Max Martin or not. I don't think they actually worked together on the song, but if she truly liked the production it might lead her to think about it. I assume she'd work with Dev Hynes again, which I'd definitely welcome. She seemed to love working with Skrillex, and I think she might work with him again which I'd also welcome.

I think some of the producers on Justin Timberlake’s album could work nicely for a few songs. I could see production like on songs like Selfish and Drown working well for her.

Ooooh...this is spicy. One would even say...borderline baiting/trolling. Calm down, homie. This level of heat was not needed. You’ll live. Correct. However, the second half of my response was a polite way of saying "cut it out." The performance of Katy's song has nothing to do with this thread or Mariah. I'm not even a fan of the song, but, it wasn't necessary. Not sure what's going on, but I'm over it. C'est fine. No mas. It's funny...I never thought of Espresso and Mariah, but if she can give us a Touch My Body, she can certainly deliver an Espresso. It's not like Mariah is allergic to pop music. Hell, her whole career is full of it, despite being rooted in R&B. But, if she is going to make anything resembling pop in the current landscape, it better be damn good because that definitely is not her zone these days.

Sent From Up Above doesn’t get enough respect around these parts. I'll co-sign this one. Sent From Up Above and All In Your Mind - late 80s production and all - are two songs from the debut that I always come back to.

^ Great to hear. Honestly, that song deserves to be streamed 300k+ per day.
Hope "Bye Bye" can keep its increases for a little while. Even before the recent surge, it's consistently been in her top twenty most streamed songs.

Charmbracelet has grown on me a lot over the years. I think now that is better than Memoirs.

I will FOREVER state that Charmie is by far her worst album, and it's honestly her only "bad" album. That said, it has a few moments and I do appreciate them for what they are, and for the fact that it ultimately let to TEOM, so we appreciate the journey for sure.

IMHO, the first half of Charmbracelet is the weakest part. There's also 5 slower songs in a row after "The One" with "You Got Me" being the only one with a beat, but also one of the instances where Mariah feels like a featured artist on her own song. If one starts in the middle of the record, it's a much stronger body of work.
Here's my version that removes the tracks I skip the most and re-orders things a little. 1. Through The Rain 2. I Know What You Want 3. The One 4. There Goes My Heart 5. Miss You 6. Clown 7. You Had Your Chance 8. Lullaby 9. My Saving Grace 10. Irresistible (West Side Connection) 11. Subtle Invitation 12. Bringin' on the Heartbreak 13. Sunflowers for Alfred Roy 14. Through The Rain (Remix) 15. Got a Thing For You [Hidden Bonus Track]
EDIT: I knew I forgot something!! It was "Miss You"

He even has that annoyed look she gives off to the side down pat that she gives sometimes to the back up singers 😂.
