I hope I get to see the debut get diamond status. That is one debut that deserves all the accolades it can receive. There isn’t a song on that album that I don’t fuck with, and I’m always like she did that.

I’m kind of mad they never released Forever commercially. I think it could have easily been another Top 5 for her even with a limited single release. There are some songs where you are like wow they passed up that opportunity. I know Mariah is both a singles and album artist, but I definitely think her albums thrived because people could point out look at her creating hit after hit.

'Forever' was a top ten airplay hit, so a limited single release almost definitely could have secured a top ten BBH100 placement.

It likely would have been a top 10 with a commercial single, but that wasn't a given; my guess is "Anytime You Need A Friend" missing the top 10 is why no commercial single was released for "Forever." "AYNAF" was also a fourth single and peaked similarly in airplay ("AYNAF" peaked at #8 on Hot 100 Airplay and "Forever" peaked at #9), but it missed the top 10 of the Hot 100 because sales were low given that it was the fourth single from an album that had already sold millions. If "Forever" had some popular remixes or had something like "One Night" as the b-side it might have had a better guarantee of good sales, but I'm guessing her team didn't want to risk missing the top 10 again. Plus that decision actually helped Mariah end up with a streak of five straight Hot 100 #1s from "Fantasy" through "My All." Mariah is the only artist to have more than one streak of 5 or more #1 hits. imbuemyblue

Her Xmas tour is on full sale today.
I have mixed feelings about it. Last year was a surprise hit with critics and attendance, so I see the desire to continue that.
But a similarly themed show with no new content at the same venues could be a difficult thing to pull off.

Additionally, she’s been so lethargic on stage, I find it bizarre that this is her second Vegas run this year, china, Brazil, and then Xmas tour….
That’s a lot of propping up on stage for someone who doesn’t seem to WANT to be there. What is that? 40 shows? That’s pretty far out of the norm for her.

I’d like a Xmas residency in NY again, though. 8-12 shows at a broadway theater would be best for what she offers these days.

Yeah, with as much as we know she prefers the studio to live performances, I can't help but wonder if the lack of a new album coupled with all of these shows is because she needs money. Aretha Franklin performed a lot despite hating to travel because she needed the money. At this point these shows Mariah is doing are going to bring in more money than a new album that falls off the charts in 3 weeks would.

Even though some reviews/fan reports have been quite good, that's kind of the vibe I'm picking up as well- that she doesn't enjoy performing yet she's doing it quite often now. If audiences pick up on that, it won't be good.

David Archuleta has one of the best voices to ever come out of American Idol. While I don't follow him musically any more really, much respect. I forgot about his Mariah moment on Idol. I love how celebrities always support Mariah and go to her shows. They are lambs just like us...well, Van Hunt (Halle's boo) didn't seem to wanna be there, LOL. He's actually a great singer. I dusted off his debut recently and forgot how solid it was.

The one oddity I found in the set list is "My All" being in that one medley. Like, it doesn't fit at all with "A No No," "It's a Wrap," etc lmao!

But yes, nice to see some songs she doesn't often perform.
