It really is sad to hear. I know she had a tumultuous relationship with her family, but I do hope everyone has come to a level of peace and understanding.

Sad to hear about what Mariah is going through right now. Having two immediate family members pass at the same time is a lot, even more so when the relationships are complicated. I am glad that she and her mom were able to spend time with each other during her mom's last week on this planet and I hope Alison is finally at peace. Hopefully her support system will help her get through this and she is able to get some sort of closure. At the very least, I hope she feels the love and good energy the lambs are sending out to her.

There is either a typo in there, or a man commenting on something he should not: "Patricia was also estranged from Mariah, according to Baker." Mariah obviously said she spent the past week from her mother. I wonder if that's supposed to say "Patricia was also estranged from Alison." In somewhat ironic news: "One Sweet Day" has now passed 200 million streams on Spotify. It is Mariah's 11th song to have at least 200 million Spotify streams (and her 7th song from the 1990s). Additionally "One Sweet Day" joins the 200/200 club, meaning it has at least 200 million streams on Spotify and on YouTube. It is Mariah's 9th song to do this (and "Fantasy" will be joining it very soon). In terms of her contemporaries, Madonna has 6 songs in that club, Whitney has 5, and Celine has 3. So, as always, I have to note that Mariah's catalog on this runs deeper and is a great response when people try to say she's only relevant at Christmas. |

Why is he saying they used 3 of the 4 songs they wrote together? The only song they co-wrote that's on the album is IDWC, then he has co-producing credit on "There's Got to Be a Way" and "Vision of Love" which they didn't write together. |

"WISY" is a song that has really grown on me over the years. I never thought it fit Daydream (but does help keep it pop), but the vocal is stellar.

It has never been a weak song to me, never had to grow on me. I've loved it since the day I listened to Daydream for the first time, for the gem that it is. Stupendous vocal and gorgeous melody.

When I Saw You is one of those songs that plays to Mariah’s strengths, but it doesn’t really stand out when you have behemoth songs like Fantasy and Always Be My Baby. That album was filled with single material, so that is definitely one of those songs that is nice, but it isn’t nearly as instant as the other songs on that album.

WISY is the only skip for me on Daydream. Didn't like it when the album dropped, don't like it now. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
In sad news, Fatman Scoop has died after collapsing on stage in CT. He was only 53. He was the hypeman on ILT.

Yes I'm normally the same when it comes to people talking or yelling in the background, but Fat Man Scoop made it work somehow. Like he seemed necessary for the completeness of the song. Loved him on Missy's 'Out of Control' too.

Honestly, I think (hope?) that Mariah’s recent stage insecurities stemmed from the end being near for her mother. There was probably hospice care and travel and likely anti-depressants.
With the relationship now in the past, plus that of Allison, I hate to say it, but it could be a huge burden and weight being lifted off of Mariah. Glad to see her continuing with her commitments and not held back by toxic family ties.
