I know that video mentioned all the guests for the special but is it possible she didn’t announce everyone? Maybe there is a duet with Faith Hill? She did I kinda intimate that she might do something with Where Are You Christmas on WWHL. It would be a good surprise. Has the running time for the special been put out yet? I’m assuming an hourish.

If Faith was on the special her name would’ve definitely been mentioned along with the rest of the guests. The way Mariah responded to the question about WAYC looked to me like she was caught off guard. She said “I love that song” but given the attention (or lack thereof) she’s given it over the years kinda makes me think, as a song, even though she wrote it, it’s not really even on her radar. From what I remember, she said Mary Ann’s vocal was was sent to Faith as a guide track and that she would try to find hers. I kinda think she won’t even bother, at least not for this holiday season, lol but who knows? 🤣 Truthfully, the only thing I’m deep down yearning for to see on this special is a “Miss You Most (At Christmas Time)” performance. *fingers crossed*

I've been listening a lot lately to "Oh Come All Ye Faithful" lately. Her vocals floor me every time. Though MCIIY was more whispery than I remember, some of the belting on that album is superhuman, so I'll always stan the 2010 vocals.

I want to buy a couple of things, but decided to wait just in case she decided put up items related to her Christmas special later on. That way, I can buy everything all at once. Hopefully her store will be re-stock some time later on. And of course, people are already putting things up on ebay, lol. |

Sweet! I know that we just got a 6x platinum certification last year, but I can't imagine we are more than a couple years away from 7x. I would kill for a full SPS update of Mariah's entire catalogue... ugh. This is a completely change in subject, but figured I wouldn't double post. I was listening to the perfection that is 'Without You' and while I know it's hit status in the US was nothing to sneeze at (top 3 for many weeks, platinum, likely buoyed album sales), does anyone who lived through that era know why it didn't quite crush it the way it did abroad? It's her biggest hit outside of AIWFCIY in basically every country but the US, hitting #1 left and right. Was it just a particularly competitive climate here? To me it feels as iconic/epic as 'I Will Always Love You' or 'My Heart Will Go On', but in the US it just didn't quite get there. #justiceforwithoutyou?! (I kid, I kid). |

Keep in mind "Without You" was a third single from an album that was already huge, so its sales were of course going to be lower than a first or second single. On top of that, it was competing with Ace of Base's "The Sign" and R Kelly's "Bump N Grind." I think at a different point that year it would have been #1 or #2. Having said that, it obviously hasn't endured in the U.S. the way it has in Europe. But in Europe Mariah has songs that haven't endured there the way they have in the U.S. Different tastes? |

New Lamb Here! Happy to meet all you stans.
Quick summary:
RARITIES - I love that despite having the producer list ahead of time, and some of the tracklisting, half the album were legit never heard treasures from her. All I Have and Out Here On My Own were immediate standouts. Save the Day was enjoyable, I'm sad it didn't catch on more.
The BOOK! I bought the physical copy, the audible, and an ibooks version. I have to tell you, reading it before bed was definitely not the best time for it. Getting into the details of her life and how her childhood shaped her adult traumas really got deep for me - I struggled to sleep the first few nights I read the book because I felt that as a lamb since day one, I didn't really know her nor fully understood her - even though she poured her life out in her songs. It's like we knew, but we had no idea. I LOVED the Derek chapters - and I LOVE how he impacted Butterfly.
CHRISTMAS - I started lurking here last year when you were all were clamoring about her possible No. 1 with All I Want. Then it happened, and I jumped for joy along with you all. Then she got her second record with having it be the first #1 of 2020, and I jumped for joy. Now a special with ARIANA and JHUD. I will not stand for the dragging of Miss Jennifer - if she has the blessing of the incomparable Miss Aretha Franklin, and Miss Mariah Carey, then she has my support. I do want her to get more Xmas hits - but if she couldn't get it with When Christmas Comes, then it won't happen with Oh Santa. I'm more invested to see how many more times All I Want can climb to the top before Billboard changes their rules. Though now that I see they are clearly sipping the queen's eggnog, maybe this is her season to always shine.
