CTIITAA is brilliant; one of my favorite Mariah tracks from the entirety of the 10's. I think the whisper works on it and then when she belts, I mean WHEW, what kind of magic is that?
As for the new 'Oh Santa', I would proceed with caution (see what I did there?) when anticipating a chart position. I would personally be *very* happy if it charted in the top 40. I would be ecstatic if it made the top 20, and utterly shocked if it made the top ten. But as ever, even for us chart fanatics, does it matter? Literally anything that happens for Mariah from here on out is icing on top of of the most impressive cakes in all music history.

I feel like the whispered vocals fit the song and add to the vibe that it’s looking to capture. I agree, but I'd argue the general public has never really embraced her whisper vocals so if we're talking potential for hit/classic, that would be a hindrance. |

Mariah's promoting like an act at the peak of her career this year. She continues to impress me with how masterfully she's transitioning to a "legacy act" while also winning over newer and younger audiences. That is NOT easy.

I know I just said we should hedge our 'Oh Santa!' bets, but one chart moment that I think is within the realm of possibility would be that Mariah could have two songs in the top 40 for the first time since.... E=MC2 I'm guessing? That would be exciting. :)
Edited to add that I looked up Taylor Swift's debut for 'Christmas Tree Farm', released on Dec 6th at last year and it only came in at #59. We may have an uphill battle here even for Top 40, guys.

I didn't want to be the Debbie Downer but I don't think "Christmas Time Is In The Air" would do all that much either.
It's pretty I guess but kind of lackluster.
I like other slow MiMi Christmas songs but this one isn't one I ever go searching for??

Because of the fan/stan interest I could MAYBE see it being the beat selling single of the week, but we know it doesn’t take much for that to happen. I could see it maybe getting SOME curiosity spins from stations that play all Christmas music. But yeah, it’s a steep hill. Top 40 debut would be a W and to use another sportsball analogy, you’d leave the field with your head held high. |

LMAO, technically she can drag the MC30 releases until May 15 next year, when "Vision Of Love" (her official debut in the business), turns 31, no?
Right now with the Christmas celebrations obviously MC30 is on hold. Remains to be seen if they'll resume with the new year. Also, JamaicaFunk² is right: it'll probably be trickier to work with IDJ for the stuff from those years.

I wouldn't mind if she started work on new music right away in 2021, either, and stopped with the #MC30 releases. Tbh, other than WAYC and Chick, I can't think of something that she didn't put out that I need. Maybe DFAU Desert Storm remix and "H.A.T.E.U." remix, but I still have those.
