The production is so lush and Mariah and John Legend work wonderfully well together. It's always been one of my favourites from her original Christmas tracks.

Oh Santa “girl group edition” in 2010 should’ve been the real vocal trinity: Mariah, Whitney and Celine. This straight to home video version is really nice too however.

I don't like any of Mariah's cut and paste "duets". I like that she did new vocals for the "Oh Santa" re-release.

When Christmas Comes is one of my favorites; the song itself is beautiful - with great lyrics, and melodies, and throwback production.
The duet with John I think left me a little underwhelmed because they didn't harmonize like we've heard them before. I felt like John was in some other key that didn't complement Mariah's voice.

I don't think it's gone any higher than the 50s on Apple Music and it hasn't entered the Spotify US top 200, so its streaming numbers won't be amazing. #1 on iTunes is nice and will help the song chart, but it won't help it get very high on the Hot 100. |

To the ones always complaining no artist old or even new is putting in this kind work to appease her fans. Mariah has been helping us through the Covid-19 and nobody treats their fans better so shut up and put some respect on her name and stop always saying she should have done this or that. Take all she is giving u and be grateful you stan a real artist who loves music and her fans. Not every fanbase has that.

Lee Daniels posted on IG stories that he was watching the special. Diane Keaton has been liking and commenting on Mariah's IG about it. Her and Diane recently started following each other and Diane is commenting on everything. I’m betting Mariah wants her to play her mother pat in whatever lee Daniels is working on. She kinda resembles her. |

Mariah Carey’s Magical Christmas rises to #2 on ITunes. This is nice, yet also a bit annoying because this new "AIWFCIY" is potentially taking sales from the original. (The two versions combined are right near #1 on iTunes.) It shouldn't really hurt it for the Hot 100, though. |

I wish the magical Christmas album was a streaming only project with no iTunes involvement. Because now it’s confusing, Is she classified as having 2 Christmas albums or 3? I’m glad Oh Santa got a little bump on it’s 10th Anniversary but I don’t know if it will become a yearly staple as is the case with AIWFCIY but anyway it’s something.

The soundtrack is clearly a new album in terms of the charts. The soundtrack versions of songs will also chart separately since they are new versions released years after the original versions. How you count it for yourself can be different. Personally I don't consider this a new Christmas album since there is only 1 totally new song. Of course, in a sense you could make a third holiday album from her that consists of the songs not on the first two and the new versions of some other songs: 1. Sugar Plum Fairy Introlude 2. Oh Santa w/ Grande and Hudson 3. SCICTT Anniversary Mix 4. Lil Snowman 5. Here Comes Santa Claus w/ Snoop Dogg 6. Sleigh Ride 7. When Christmas Comes w/ John Legend 8. The Star 9.
