The fact that AIWFCIY made it to #13 on Radio Songs when it peaked at #12 in it's initial year of release Yup yup...plus the following two seasons it peaked at #35 both times. The song was a hit from the start. Another prediction that has Mariah inside the Top 10 for next week! Absolutely incredible!

Next year will be interesting because Christmas is on Saturday. That means only 2-3 days of strong streams that chart week. It should be enough for top 10 as we see this year, but #1 seems out of reach. I guess it's best week will be the week before (December 17-23), especially since it will have a really strong airplay week that week. I'd love for it to finally break the top 10 in airplay.

^I wish we got the official numbers for that Asian tour, it would help make her Elusive Chanteuse tour sound like a huge success.

Can anybody do the math from the 24-26th this year to see how many streams she got and how that would equate to chart points? At least the airplay during that tracking week will still include Christmas.

Can anybody do the math from the 24-26th this year to see how many streams she got and how that would equate to chart points? At least the airplay during that tracking week will still include Christmas. Spotify is the only streaming service that publicly reports numbers, but I think we can possibly come up with a good proportional estimate. {math}AIWFCIY received 54.9 million streams for this chart week. ~11,853,000 of those streams came from Spotify (all spotify numbers rounded to nearest 1k): 12/18: 1.388m 12/19: 1.538m 12/20: 1.394m 12/21: 1.322m 12/22: 1.398m 12/23: 1.737m 12/24: 3.076m 11.853 million is ~21.5901639% of 54.9 million; if I apply that ratio to each day, Mariah's overall US daily streams for the 24th were ~14,247,229. US Spotify numbers after that: 12/25: 3.489m 12/26: 771k 12/27: 270k 12/28: out of the top 200 If I apply that same ratio from above to these days, Mariah received ~16,160,137 overall streams on the 25th, ~3,571,071 on the 26th, and ~1,250,469 on the 27th, and we can presume a negligible number of streams any day after that. As mentioned in the tweet Me. I Am l!nk!nfan815... posted above, Mariah is projected to have 20 million streams this week with around 17 million streams coming from Christmas day alone. My 25-27 estimates add up to just under 21 million, only one million off, so this particular ratio is pretty solid, it seems. The caveat is that the ratio seems to underestimate Christmas day itself and overestimate the two days following it, but as long as you don't assume any streams on or after the 28th the weekly sum evens out. So, with all that in mind, I think we can guesstimate that AIWFCIY would pull in 33 to 35 million streams for the 2021 Christmas week, 10k-12k in sales (she sold 12k this week), and 35-40 million AI (up from 33.7 million this year). Also keep in mind that Christmas Eve and Christmas Day streaming increased a lot from last year, so these estimates might even be a lowball for 2021. I haven't the slightest clue how to estimate chart points for individual components, but just two weeks ago AIWFCIY returned to #1 with 31.4 million streams, 7k sales, and 27.1 million AI. That's actually weaker stats in all three metrics than what she'll likely have for next year's Christmas week. Willow debuted at #1 with 30 million streams, 59k sales, and 12.3 million AI, and even with the boosted sales was still only ahead of AIWFCIY by 2 points. I think #1 on Christmas week next year is not at all out of reach - it's not a sure shot of course, if there is an especially big hit out. But if this year is any indication, the streaming for existing non-Christmas hits gets absolutely pummeled at the holiday peak and then takes a few days to recover, while launching a new single in December is difficult at best (willow) and near suicide at worst (Afterglow...still can't believe Atlantic really let Ed send out a single the actual week of Christmas). The high streams from Christmas Eve and Christmas day combined with a full week of airplay could very well be enough for AIWFCIY to pull through.

Remember this early Minnie Mouse tea? lmao Ha the vocals are a bit altered, but I still love this duet. It's a good song. I wish she'd recorded it a year earlier with the MCIIY vocals.

December 30, 2020 10:31am PT What’s a Christmas Smash Worth on Spotify? Close to a Million, if You’re Mariah Carey By Chris Willman The writers of some of the biggest perennial Christmas hits — or their estates, given how far back some of these songs go — are making some decent coin via streaming every year, according to a study released Wednesday that calculated the likely payouts from Spotify this season for the holiday songs that dominate music consumption in December. Although these amounts alone may not support the stars in the styles to which they’ve become accustomed, it’s clear that for some, releasing holiday material can at least set up a nice Christmas bonus each year. According to the UK design firm Nofollowdesigns, Mariah Carey’s dominative “All I Want for Christmas Is You” should have made $946,000 in earnings from Spotify for the period beginning Nov. 1 and ending Dec. 28, looking at the number of streams accumulated on the service — 210 million — and a standard payout rate of $0.0045. (That money won’t all go to Carey, of course; co-writer/producer Walter Afanasieff also stands to benefit from the bounty.) The firm calculated that Wham!’s “Last Christmas” was the second-biggest money-generating Christmas song on Spotify in the last two months, with 180 million plays turning up $810,000 in income. Third in this estimation was Ariana Grande’s “Santa Tell Me,” with 148 million Spotify plays bringing in $666,000. These first three are relatively contemporary songs, from the 1980s forward, but the list is also dotted with far more retro holiday classics, like Brenda Lee’s “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree,” which had 138 million Spotify streams with a potential payout of $620,000. Although the list largely matches up with the oldies that have dominated the Billboard and Rolling Stone charts in the last few weeks, there are some surprising contemporary choices. Lil Nas X’s new-to-2020 “Holiday” has not been a major hit, by most chart standards — but it was on Spotify, where it accumulated just over 100 million streams during the period, good enough to collect $450,000 in earnings. variety.com/2020/music/news/spotify-christmas-hits-revenue-mariah-carey-1234876652/
