The special definitely met my expectations.. maybe even exceeded them.
If she's going to do another, I'd prefer more of a focus on new Christmas songs or duet versions. I have little interest in 2021 re-recordings of her old Christmas songs.. if she does duet versions like she did with "Oh Santa," it can generate interest in those songs from audiences who may not have paid attention or been aware of those songs previously.. but I have no interest in 2021 solo re-recordings of "Jesus Born On This Day"...

I like the Peanuts idea. Not dissing the Muppets but the Peanuts are far more on brand for her, they are timeless quintessential Christmas icons in their own right.
In reality, annual Christmas specials from Mariah kind of seem like a natural transition for her. I could see it being something people look forward to every season, especially as she enters this new legacy legend phase. There are infinite possibilities, guest stars, and collaborations to mix things up for years to come. Also, it's not like it's overkill or necessarily shoved down people's throats if it's confined to one streaming platform.

Yeah, I would gladly accept a new Christmas project from her every year. She's had the concerts at Beacon and Vegas, the Netflix special, the Hallmark movie, the All I Want for Christmas is You cartoon, there's many ways she can package Christmas. It's fitting, expected, and keeps her booked.

One thing that needs to be made clear between Peanuts and Muppets is the ownership of said IPs. Apple currently holds the rights for Peanuts so any material that uses it post 2018 has to either partner with Apple or pay them a percentage to air even just the classic episodes. It's the same for the Muppets but Disney holds the rights. She would have to switch over to Disney for a Muppets x Mariah team up which honestly seems like a better fit when you look into the numbers. In terms of app audience Disney+ is pulling in more than 80-90 millions monthly subscribers to AppleTV+ paltry 10-15 million plus Disney has their network of Viacom channels to boot.

Taking a moment to celebrate the fact that she’s back at No. 1, even if we knew that she’d get back there this week. Don’t wanna take any of these weeks for granted. Amazing that in 2020 (and now in 2021) she’s going to have the No. 1 song in the country again. What a legacy to have this. |

Right? In a year where I didn't even think I was AS invested in its chart success because of the whole ass memoir and accompanying album she provided to us that really highlighted the year for her. But with every year she's #1 with AIWFCIY, she continues to provide us some stats that really aren't achievable by anyone BUT her with music's current trends.

Has there been vinyl releases of All I Want For Christmas Is You? I feel like she’s sitting on a goldmine of merch she can generate from this song. As previously mentioned, people would jump at ornaments, vinyls, ugly sweaters, mugs, candles... this is THE SONG of our generation and would love to see them push some Christmas merch next season.

There is something about sharing these moments with fans who have been there for MC through thick and thin that is just really special. We are so lucky that our icon has maintained and cared for her legacy and her fans like this. She didn't just save Christmas, she saved 2020! |
