Not her even digging up the I Only Wanted remixes and putting together a single cover for it! The dedication. (The DJ Meme Radio Remix has always been excellent btw for those who haven’t heard)
My only small gripe about the remix EPs is the tacky “MC30” stamp on all of them urgh. So unnecessary and ruins some otherwise flawless covers.

She stays killing it. I have most of these in one form or another, but YESSSSS at "The One" and "I Only Wanted" EPs. I didn't even know Richard Morel did a mix for "The One."
"Boy (INY)" remains the worst remix package of her career, haha. I remember buying those singles back in the day and being SO MAD.

I remember "the one" was going to be the second single, but then they changed it for "boy" (I still don't understand why) maybe that's why the boy remixes are so bleak

"The One" could have done well as a single - at least better than "Boy", I imagine.
Don't get me wrong, it's a catchy and cute tune, but whose idea was it to sample the hook of a hit song from less than a year ago for the chorus?

Me realizing the Emancipation and Memoirs era are coming and Memoirs had so many different remixes with jump smokers and urban remixes etc

I Only Wanted has such a beautiful melody, my goodness! Most of these remixes were just meh to me, but being able to revisit that song again was nice.

His sound was so distinct during the 00's, and he did a fantastic job with that remix. For those that care about the nostalgia, he did fantastic remixes of Esthero's "Fastlane" and "All These Things That I've Done" by The Killers. Check em out. Tagging Chelsea Press 2 here because we are dance fanatics and maybe he's down for a trip down memory lane. I mentioned this before, but the IDJ years are where things are going to get murky in terms of these #MC30 releases, the label was all over the place and sometimes certain songs (WBT, DFAU) had remixes released in spurts (Rauhofer part I and II, Tony Moran, etc) and songs like SIO having that Gomi remix that was technically officially but also part of a whole cancelled slew of other remixes. I don't expect them to be complete like those from the Sony years when the remixes were studio efforts by MC and her collaborators.

1. That Long Ago remix is truly IT 2. The way that my two favorite Charmie tracks (IOW and BOTH) are featured - I am staying fed today

Right?! Long Ago is one of my favs and this remix is everything! The beat adds to the darkness of the song.

There were a couple decent “Through The Rain” dance mixes (I prefer the Maurice Joshua remix to the album version), but overall the remixes from that project were weak (especially compared to her 90s remixes). The vocals on the So So Def remix of “The One” are among her worst studio vocals of her career.

I haven't been compelled to listen to Charmbracelet completely through in a while but decided to give it a spin today since it is Charmie's week for MC30. While it still ranks towards the bottom of her discography, it's been a better listening experience than it has previously been. I think what changed is that I've been paying more attention to Mariah the songwriter and lyricist more recently. It really shines from a lyrical standpoint and if Charmie were a poetry book, it would be top-notch. But as an album, the production and vocal choices weigh it down.
Even though it's better this time, I still had the same sort of listening experience I have had with it in the past. At a certain point, the songs just started blending together and I sort of lost track at what part of the album I was at. Listening more intently to the lyrics this time helped the songs to stand out a little more, but some of the songs simply didn't keep my attention or leave much of an impression. In addition to needing better production and vocal choices, Charmie definitely would have benefited from getting the Caution treatment and have the track list cut down.
Also, I'm disappointed that There Goes My Heart wasn't made available worldwide this week. I was hoping MC30 would mean access to her Japanese tracks since they are some of my favorite tracks from her. Hopefully they will be available eventually.

I don't expect them to be complete like those from the Sony years when the remixes were studio efforts by MC and her collaborators. I loved those mixes. Richard Morel is so underated as a producer/remixer. For the Island/Def Jam stuff, I think we will at least get at least everything that was released and promoted. For DFAU there are multiple Ralphi Rosario and Tony Moran dubs but only one of each was released/promoted. I wonder if we will even get those Sugardip mixes that were promoted for "Say Somethin" or those Tracy Young, David Harness, and Maurice Joshua remixes of FLAB. Tony Moran had said he did remixes of FLAB. Maurice posted his FLAB mix on MySpace.

It must be noted that the Hex/Mac radio edit on the "Through The Rain" EP from yesterday is different than the Hex/Mac radio edit which appeared on the original CD singles for that song and on her The Remixes album. This new edit is based on the club mix whereas the other one has different sounds and elements not present in the club mix.
According to an interview with Hex Hector, he had said that he felt that song was really difficult to turn into a club remix and the mix he did originally was much darker and harder and then midway through it, Mac Quayle changed the musical direction of the production and they did a totally new one.

She should release Glitter - the Remixes and The greatest hits albums on vinyl now ..... !!!
I love charmbracelet - my thing back in the day I was obsessed with Miss You which was a Japan only bonus track back then - I wished she had put Lil Kim on that track instead of Jadakiss - imagine her on that Benjamin’s beat !!!

I agree with Eqbk that "Charmbracelet" 's biggest strength lies in its songwriting, and for anyone who hasn't revisited the album in some time, I'd highly recommend doing so and paying particular attention to the lyrics this time. Songs like "I Only Wanted", "Sunflowers for Alfred Roy", and "Clown" are all phenomenal showcases of her writing skills.
