That's a lower re-entry on the Hot 100 than last year, but still easily the top "oldies" track overall. Of all things, that dang Sing-Off group's version of "Mary, Did You Know" is keeping it from its rightful place atop the Holiday Hot 100.

Did anyone else here get to see Mariah during the "Christmas" leg of the Charmbracelet tour. I did (and even presented her with a city fan book), yet I can't find the set list of the shows anywhere. My memory escapes me whether she played MYM (ACT) or now. My gut says she did...Does anyone know where I can find the setlist for these shows? Thanks "Miss You Most (At Christmas Time)" has never been performed live. I didn't attend any of the concerts from the Christmas leg of the CB tour, but as far as I know she sang these Christmas songs: "Hark The Herald Angels Sing," "Silent Night," "Joy To The World" and "All I Want For Christmas Is You". That Madonna interview is from 2009. It seems weird how she threw Mariah shade when she had been sort of cordial the year before...

To be fair, Mariah was pretty shady towards Madonna during the E=MC2 roll out, so I wouldn't be surprised if that pissed Madonna off. I did think they were on good terms now though? I don't know why I feel like I remember Mariah calling Madonna an 'icon' or something like that fairly recently.

Interesting.... Billboard Revisionist: "All I Want For Christmas Is You"Posted by Jonny on Wednesday, 10-Dec-2014, 2:29PM EST Billboard's "Revisionist History" series applies modern-day charting techniques to years past to see what each year's top song would be now. In an article published earlier today, Billboard names "All I Want For Christmas Is You" the revised #1 song of 1995: Although Mariah Carey achieved No.1-of-the-year status in 2005 with "We Belong Together," none of her record-setting 14 chart-toppers during the 1990s ruled any of those years, based on the original tallies. Ironically, it's a '90s song that didn't even chart on the Hot 100 during its release that makes Carey the star atop the tree on 1995's revised list. Not a commercial single when it came out as part of Carey's Merry Christmas collection in 1994, "All I Want for Christmas Is You" was at the time ineligible to chart per Hot 100 rules, yet it reached No. 12 on Radio Songs. The digital era's biggest-selling holiday song, at 2.8 million and counting, it has more than made up for lost time, having appeared on the Hot 100 during each of the past three holiday seasons, reaching a No. 21 peak in December 2012. How has the much-covered song The New Yorker called "one of the few worthy modern additions to the holiday canon" landed Carey on the Mt. Rushmore of holiday hitmakers, next to the likes of Bing Crosby ("White Christmas") and Nat King Cole ("The Christmas Song")? "Mariah's easy-to-sing and fun-to-listen-to song came at a time when modern Christmas music was downright depressing," says Rick Hall, program director of New York Christian adult contemporary station WAWZ (Star 99.1), which currently features the track. "Mariah gave radio and retailers something new to play that wasn't Wham!'s 'Last Christmas' or Band Aid's 'Do they Know It's Christmas?'" Credit also "All I Want for Christmas Is You" for its multigenerational appeal. "A mom, her daughter and her daughter's daughter can all like the song," WIXX Green Bay, Wis. mainstream top 40 music director Otis Day says. "That's a Christmas miracle." Does the song's success suggest that any of today's hottest acts could follow suit and deliver a modern Christmas classic? "That's the power of a talented pop artist with mass appeal like Mariah," Hall says. "If history is to repeat itself, perhaps in fifteen or twenty years, we'll be discussing the success of a Taylor Swift or Adele Christmas record." Source: billboard.com

She's on tour??? I've been working so much haven't kept up with anything! She's doing a Christmas concert at the Beacon Theater in NYC(could potentially be an annual thing)! Initially it was 4 shows, then she added a 5th due to high demand, now she added a 6th show! The other 5 nights are already sold out. So drop your eggnog and go get a ticket! It's your last chance.

"Merry Christmas" is the one album that has consistently gotten me into the Holiday mood the last several years.
God bless this masterpiece, reviving Christmas spirt everywhere.

Mariah fans have been the only ones talking about Ariana and/or the comparisons for months, so it's best to just let them enjoy this circle jerk on their own.

Plenty of people have been talking about Ariana for the past few months, so I'll have to disagree there. She's been in the press pretty consistently for months now. Agree that mostly Mariah fans are bringing up the comparisons though. Jokes aside, I personally don't see any resemblance between them. And that's not me trying to be shady; I think she has some jams on her newest album.

I do however think it's best if we keep other females singers out of this thread and only allude to them in shade. To bring up rift raft singers is sorta a discredit to Mimi and her legacy.
Katie Holmes speaks?

Mariah fans have been the only ones talking about Ariana and/or the comparisons for months, so it's best to just let them enjoy this circle jerk on their own. How are we the only ones? No one in the jerk circle even knew who this girl was until others started making the comparisons...naturally, ANY fanbase would get a little overprotective when people start coming for their girl with crazy remarks(as you would know). At first it was laughable really, then it became overbearing, now these comparisons are just ridiculously fun. You have this obsession pointing out how we have Mariah "in a pedestal". So what if we do? God forbid anyone says anything about the vocal chameleon, or the other one, or that one...any fanbase would get defensive as well. Its just a normal reaction to have. Now if we can please get back in circle...

The press and the blogs and media are the ones keeping the comparisons alive. But our circle jerk is for Mariah and others circle jerk over other singers, meh! Its what artists threads are all about! When all lambs realize that there is a bit of a insecurity behind it all , you will never take it personal :kii: Welcome all shots, embrace it! You all stan for greatness expect it!! I don't make any apologies for putting greatness on a pedestal because they earned that from me. Time to time I will knock a bitch off it to make her wake up but yeah she is forever earned that right to remain. (Unrelated but ) I think all great artists from our past deserve respect, adoration and a thank you. You can't call a legend a has been or come for them. A has been is someone who hasn't become a legend (see a few other threads for that). So outside of someone calling her a has been just embrace everyone. Not everyone can understand. Coco spreading love and peace since 2012.

l!nk!n- AIFWCIY re-entered at 26 last year.
Merry Christmas moved 77-43 on the Billboard 200 this week, and 88-53 on Top Album Sales.

All you need to know is if AIWFCIY had been released a single it would've been a #1 hit on Billboard Top 100 and also been the #1 of the year for all of 1995. It would've been her second biggest billboard hit after WBT. But as it is, they didn't release it and therefor the album (MC) sold by the boat loads
