Mariah needs to do a lot more press before rehearsals start. As far as I can see, ticket sales have been sluggish at best. That Rockefeller performance did so much to hurt her career, she better hurry to fix it. Where did you see that?

Searching for tickets. You can get in first five rows still for all shows.

I found it interesting - though not at all surprising - that when Ellen was mentioning some of Mariah's #1s, Mariah of course interrupted to mention her most recent two ("DFAU" and "TMB"). She really wants to keep her most recent music in people's minds.

A lot of people who want to go see her need to get the time off from their jobs before booking their flights and getting their tickets... I know I'm one of those..

You also forget the drunk mothafuckas who will purchase tickets at the last minute. I am not worried about sales. They will sell just fine.

Vegas tickets are sold more like albums. You have pre-order sales and once the show starts people just buy on the spot. I bet 25% of the audience were just in Vegas and then bought tickets to go see Mariah Carey.
Its def not like her tours where you can sell out the minute tickets go up cause its not a local thing.
keep in mind it will be hard to sell out. Britney is averaging for example her end of December 4 day count 16k out of 18k possible seats sold and those 4 shows were not sellouts. I imagine Mimi will be doing those types of numbers.

I don't think Britney has sold out since the first leg of shows. Maybe it's good that mariah will only have 27 shows per year.

Mariah should do an acoustic special to promote the show, showcasing her voice. I agree, the rockefeller mess was really bad press for her and wouldn't be surprised if they hindered sales. I saw them playing those Youtube videos of the Christmas show on Ellen--I'm sure should could book an acoustic show on BET or something.

The Beacon Theater shows which were titled after the very song she performed that garnered all the negative media coverage and drama sold just fine. Why wouldn't these Vegas shows sell decently? While there will still be haters and people her see her as unappealing, she still has months before the shows giving a lot of the general public time to forget about the whole debacle.

I think TGIFY will be the song Mariah will feel more uncomfortable to sing again bc it was openly dedicated to Luis Miguel. maybe she'll keep it short

I don't think there was a ton of "good press" outside of Pulse. Sure, she had some nice write-ups in NY publications and good reviews. But, it was minuscule. I'm sure 99% of Americans didn't even know she did anything for Xmas.

Actually, anyone Mariah has dated outside of Derek has seemed like a slight mis-match. That being said, she better not drop TGIFY from the setlist. If there was any #1 she would drop, I think that'd be it. I don't love it... but, when I remember it and go back for a listen... I appreciate it more and more. Mariah has very few actual love songs, so it's nice to hear something other than lost love in her lyrics.

Actually, anyone Mariah has dated outside of Derek has seemed like a slight mis-match. As much as I liked them together at the time, all these years later I have a more difficult time picturing her with Derek especially. Being a New Yorker, Derek is one of our "local superstars" so I feel like we've gotten to know him around here just as well as we can know any celebrity. While Mariah's gotten progressively more into her extravagant and over the top ways (which we love her for!), Derek seems like the polar opposite type of celebrity. You know, just a normal dude you'd run into somewhere. It's just hard to picture them in the same world still.

That's really interesting re: Mariah and Derek, and while I have never met him or seen him in person, I agree. He just seems so low-key and the anti-Mariah, personality-wise. She sure did (and probably still does feel some kind of way about him, that's for sure.
Meanwhile, in MIAM...TEC land, everything after the key-change in Supernatural is just...OMG. I legit get chills, which is rare. Makes me feel the same way I felt at the climax of If It's Over.

That's why he broke up with her.. She's said he couldn't handle how famous she was.
That's why Marc Sudack was perfect for Mariah. He was in the shadows but still was able to give her what she needed. It's a mystery to me what happened cause there is video of Mariah and Marc in the studio together days before her surprise wedding. What happened ??

^That's the UK version though right? I don't think the US version had 'Do You Know Where You're Going To', and 'Without You' was in place of 'I Don't Wanna Cry' (I could be wrong - I am originally from the UK and so only have the UK version...). That's just my understanding - I had never heard 'I Don't Wanna Cry' until I bought the Greatest Hits as a result of the 'Without You' swap on #1s !

I remember when the news broke that she married Nick Cannon, no one even realized the two knew each other, and fans thought maybe she married Marc and the press screwed up somehow. ^That's the UK version though right? I'm having trouble remembering the extent of the rights that Mariah owns to her material. I know she bought the publishing rights to the Sony songs themselves, but I don't think she owns the masters. That means the new #1s collection is being released as a collaboration between Island and Sony. Perhaps that and her spending time with LA Reid provides some evidence to support the rumors she's been planning a move back to Sony. Can you explain the difference between publishing rights, "the masters" and maybe her composition rights? Thanks in advance, sugar :)

Can you explain the difference between publishing rights, "the masters" and maybe her composition rights? Thanks in advance, sugar :) Publishing rights are a contract between the songwriters and a publishing company that involves the musical composition. The master is the actual musical recording itself. Mariah bought complete publishing rights to all of her Sony material years ago, but they still own her masters from 1990-2000. She's free to use her music however she wants, but if it's Sony material, she has to work with Sony to use the original Sony recordings. For example, Mariah owns the actual musical composition "All I Want For Christmas Is You," but Sony owns the 1994 recording from Merry Christmas. Labels almost always retain the rights to the masters, which is why I didn't think she owned any of them.

I always felt like Nick was a major rebound guy after her and mark suddenly broke up. Like she was loosing all this weight (probably because she thought she was getting married and wanted the pictures to look hot) then when they broke up and nick "put it out into the universe" she was probably super vulnerable and didn't want to waste her smoking figure so she said "what the hell, let's do it".
Nick Cannon was the ultimate rebound guy.
She should've waited a few months, continued to promote E=MC2, sold 3 million copies and by that time her and Mark would've resolved their issues and gotten back together.

In all those interviews not once did she even claim Mark or the fact they were dating all those years must have been odd to see Nick talk about her all the time during their marriage. mariah this, mariah that, mariah, mariah.

I can't think of any relationship she's had where she's been overly revealing. She always talked about Tommy in general terms when they were together. I'm not sure she ever talked about Derek when they were together. She did talk about Luis a bit, but nothing overly detailed. She never talked about Mark, as you said. We heard more about she and Nick than any previous guy, but part of that was due to him and part of it is because media has changed so much. In general Mariah has always talked about people more once they had broken up than when they were together (well, and in her music). I do think Nick being so public is one of the issues they had, but it's the kind of thing that probably didn't get discussed with such a quickie marriage.

Well here is the thing, when you are with Mariah Carey, you claim her because she certainly doesn't need to claim you.
