Memoirs is one of my favorite Mariah albums, I feel like most people who really love E=MC2 won't like Memoirs because they are two completely different moods. E=MC2 is just fun, really great pop music perfect for the spring and summer time- just feel good music with great hooks. Memoirs was straight up R&B, relaxed, beautiful melodies and it was a really cohesive album to me. I can listen to it in full anytime, love every track. Definitely very underrated- perfect album to lay in the bathtub and listen to straight through and just relish in yourself lol. Songs like "Ribbon", "Candy Bling" and "It's a Wrap" remain flawfree to me and don't get me started on the should have been #1 hits everywhere: "Obsesssed" and "Up Out My Face". The only mess on that album is I Wanna Know What Love Is, not a good cover at all.
And MIAM is literally perfect, ugh. Don't even get me started on that. One of the only times Mariah had this musical sound that sounded really progressive but yet totally classic.

'Obsessed' was her last golden moment for me.  That song was a perfect pop song and rightfully became a hit despite how mangled the E=MC2 single rollout was. The funny thing is I wasn't even a big fan of Obsessed. I didn't dislike it or anything close but it was a pleasant song and I understood why she did it, to appease her pop fans. I need more appeasing me because i'm selfish like that and boy or girl or whatever you be inbetween I just need more Dedication. I"ll just sit right here and sing that good old school s**t to ya |

How many people can even have a album full of number ones? The whole shade of is the title and the reminder. Regardless what it sells just having a album full of number ones and releasing it again to a whole new generation is THE SHADE. Thank God grandma Coco is back. My only issue with "Obsessed" is the lack of a great melody. It has some nice, if stagnant, production, and the lyric is great. It just doesn't have the same melodic heft of her classic singles, though.

I think the thing that has been lacking for me anyway is great chorus sections on her songs. A lot of her writing as of late has seemed very cluttered or not fleshed out enough. There are some great songs she has come out with, but aside from #Beautiful where she kept it simple everything else just seems more complex or underdeveloped. She is Mariah and she makes pretty much anything sound beautiful or great, so she can hide the mechanical flaws in a song well for the most part.

I don't think we ever officially hear about radio deals, anyway. It's just obvious when you see the spins, and sometimes we'll hear a "We'll play it on the hour every hour" thing where we assume it's a deal.

A deal would fit into this. Everybody does it. It's not like she's paying to people hear it, she's paying for the exposure/attention. Haters gonna be like, OMG That Mariah Carey song all over the radio today meh. But after the day, they will get back to listen the usual radio flow. It's not like she'll be buying her way to the top. Given the lack of time due to the residency starting so soon, it's a smart move. She'll get time to rest her voice and give a mind-blowing first show, and still has some press about the song going on. |

Its not even about haters with me because haters will always exist and really end of the day nobody cares about them. You can't shove a song down people throat so just let it organically grow and not have people burn out on the first day. To me radio deals reek of desperation and someone of her credentials should never have to follow trends and reek with the rest. Just promote, drop the single, and let it takes it course naturally. You're Mariah fucking Carey not a desperate old hag. Just let your career speak for itself without jumping on every trend.

I am seriously so excited for tonight. I have a feeling I am going to really relate these lyrics. Me and Mariah have gone through something similar minus dem babies and a lot of her songs have been helping me out these months.. I am expecting a pop leanign single though 100%.

I like those lyrics. It sounds like we'll be hearing a strong and confident Mariah.
I hope she can get a "#Beautiful"-sized hit out of this, or at least similar longevity because that was a fun song to watch from week-to-week, both on radio and on iTunes. "You're Mine" really came and went in a flash, so hopefully this song can do better.
