I dug "Infinity" upon the first few listens, but it really just clicked with me today. It took awhile for me to really appreciate it, but now I can't get enough of it. It's everything I was wanting for her.
Stoked for the video, I'm surprised we haven't gotten a concrete date for a release yet unless I'm missing something. I'm also anticipating dance remixes. I'm assuming we're getting some being she was with Joey Arbagey right before the release of "Infinity".

I'm waiting on the Hip-hop upbeat remix hopefully with re sung vocals, added backgrounds and adlibs and gimme a couple vintage rappers who still got some juice in their bars.

It might not be a bad thing if the positive press can garner more radio support. I'm thinking we'll get a run similar to "You're Mine," but I hope the song has more life in it. Part of me is still optimistic that the video will help, and so far everything has been handled well. If it flops, it shouldn't be that big of a deal since this isn't a studio album.
"Shake It Off" and "Touch My Body" are also songs I think clicked more with the media than Mariah's fans. There was a lot of drama in both those threads when they were released. Of course, the circumstances were much different then, coming off a hot single and successful era. They were both favorites of mine from the start, and I still love them.

Shake It Off was my jam right from when I heard the album! The sassy, hooked filled bop slayed.

I totally agree with Touch My Body causing drama, but I think that was moreso because of the lyrics and didn't feel like the killer follow-up many fans expected to all the success TEOM had. I think people were expecting something upbeat as that was Mariah's general success formula: 1st single upbeat / dancey, 2nd ballad, 3rd midtempo. TMB grew fast on me... despite multiple listens, this hasn't yet. I liked SIO from the get-go, although I was definitely in the STN / Circles camp for singles from TEOM. I also did really like GYN, IBLULT and a few other singles that flopped :x And I must admit, I was never a fan of DFAU, TGIFY and a slew of other successful Mariah songs. I'm always happy when she puts out material... better a single I'm not so hot about than no music at all!

^Interesting- thanks. I know it had been available for pre-order on her site, but not many albums of previously released material are put up for pre-order.
Hopefully the inside packaging is decent.

They are doing a dress rehearsal performance tonight for a few select people and *maybe* some press. All of the pictures of the sets look absolutely stunning and I bet Mariah is going to slay. I feel like these are going to be on the level of the Beacon shows amped up even more.

In all likeliness, "Infinity" will be performed, but I'd much prefer a medley of some sorts. However, when I say medley, I mean a ten-minute segment during which she has enough time to sing more than just two lines from each song... lol... (I'm referring to her 'Idol' medley). I'd be fine if it led into "Infinity", but why end a medley of such flawless music with such mediocrity?... lol. Nevertheless, I'm looking forward to it! |

The Vegas show unofficially started last night.
Should be some write-ups today.
There's a recording of Infinity from the show. She sounds fine (when it's live), but I don't think its a good choice to end the show.
