"Infinity" has two positive mentions in the new Entertainment Weekly. It's good news, but I don't get the '90s references.
Must List: 5. "Infinity," Mariah Carey Everything '90s is new again on Mimi's latest, a throwback to her early glory days with a sweetly syncopated hook and a kiss-off chorus - "I was yours eternally/There's an end to infinity" - that should leave Nick Cannon crying into his cornflakes.
Bullseye: Mariah Carey's new single "Infinity" is so '90s it's already being rebooted on Netflix.

"To The Floor" seemed like a waste of a Nelly Ft/duet. When I first heard "Get Your Number" I thought that could have or should have been Nelly. LoL

Could you imagine if, during the Vegas show, the MTV Unplugged video of "Someday" plays as Mimi leaves the stage for a few moments? That would be just cold- ice cold, actually.

I hope when she goes into the studio that she includes Miguel and Happy Perez in that conversation. I would love to hear what other songs and sounds they could make together. Since, I know there isn't a chance in hell she will work with Mark Ronson or Rick Rubin like I would love for her to do. Ideally, she would let Prince produce a song or two for her.

I'm glad "Infinity" is getting positive press, but I'm still not sure if it's going to be a hit or not. I hope we get the video soon because I'd love for the song to climb back up on iTunes.

I would love to see her worth with Prince, Janet Jackson, Stevie Wonder, etc. Why not write and/or produce with other artists, especially ones she was influenced by? I still love that she worked with Rick James on "All My Life."

it's like she have all this power to work with whoever she wanted to and yet she never does. if she wanted to hit #1 again she could collaborate with any artist who's on top right now and they'd never say no to her.

I don't think Mariah's ready for that yet. She has too much pride and wants to have success on her own-- and, the truth is, with all the cards lined up, she still can (not necessarily with Infinity, but with a true smash song).
I could see her collaborating for a hit in maybe 10-15 years, when she's *gasp* almost 60.

I think people don't mind collaborations from her when they seem natural and organic. I think they mind when it feels forced/ copy and pasted on to a track. I am not necessarily looking for her to feature with artists. I would like for her to work with Prince because I think they could both put out an amazing track. He doesn't have to feature on it just produce it. It would be fun to see what she could do with Quincy Jones too.

Yeah "#Beatiful" was a collaboration with an artist she sees as R&B, which her genre of choice. That's different from Mariah working with some mainstream artist just to have a hit.
Having said that, there is a way for her to work with someone 'current' and have it be organic. Mark Ronson is a good example; his music is so steeped in retro R&B that it aligns with Mariah's sensibilities anyway. John Legend isn't mainstream in a general sense, but Mariah could have done a song like "All of Me" with him and it would have seemed natural.
I know it isn't a popular notion, per se, and will never happen anyway, but I'd love a collaboration between Mariah and Eminem where they sort of go at one another. Instant hit. Imagine if back in 2009 Eminem had verses like on "Superman" or something, and then Mariah responded with the "Obsessed" chorus, for example.

Ok Mariah, please have an urban remix that actually hardens back to the 90's, so these reviews can somewhat make sense, ok.

I know there's a remix in the works but not sure if it's urban or not.

I think the fact that Mariah backed Mayweather parallels with her life very well: great business acumen, but shitty taste in men.

She is looking Amazing. I'm surprised that the song is still in the iTunes top 100 after a week. At this point songs like "You're Mine" and "The Art of Letting Go" were long gone from the top 100.

Yeah but Mayweather also had 5 convictions for beating women > I'm surprised that the song is still in the iTunes top 100 after a week. At this point songs like "You're Mine" and "The Art of Letting Go" were long gone from the top 100. Right. I wish there had been a bit of promo for the song going into the weekend or something. Hopefully the press for her Vegas show this week help the song stay in the top 100. I didn't realize "AIWFCIY" was still eligible for the main AC chart several years after its initial release. It actually returned to the top 10 in the 1999 holiday season (it was #10 in its 9th week on the chart, which was issue date 1/8/2000).

^Same here - it does not deserve to be the only additional new song on that legendary collection of #1s. They have had months to work on just one song and the result was Infinity

"Infinity" is currently 108 on iTunes. Combined with streaming (for which it's tough to tell how much will be from the USA), it may debut at the low end of the Hot 100. Kworb estimated 25k in sales, but that may have shifted since Thursday's projection.
