What a great list! I love all these but I think my favorite is Thanx 4 Nothing. Do you connect with those lyrics at all? Anyway, thanks for sharing this list. #Lambily would you agree if i added Joyride forgot about that one just listening and its so great  i think im more or a melody guy than a lyrics man. i think those songs have great melodies and are so singalong. I dont understand the hate for youre mine. Angels cry is simply sublime. Yeah, Joyride is immensely cute! Yeah, it's cool that you can be either a melody or a lyrics guy. With Mariah, it's even more fun because not only does she construct her melodies, she darn there writes almost all of her songs. Just another reason she is so legendary, I guess. |

That when she is on her A game its much easier for her to sound like 1995 as opposed to her 1990 style. Her mid voice on her good days ad lower registry can almost match her Daydream era. She struggles more with 1990-1994 Mimi but that one was unearthly so i can't blame her. Hi Coco Can i get your opinion on my WBT plus list ? Anything ive left out or something that shouldnt be there ?? |

I believe @spiritanimal would consider entertaining this if you hadn't shown your true colors by adding One & Only to a list of supposed "WBT clones." I'm pretty sure Joy Ride wouldn't be on that list either, unless you believe ALL of Mariah's ballads sound alike.

Actually One and Only was questionable, and by the way i didnt use the word clone in a deragatory way, i meant songs that are similar in vibe and structure to WBT with the climax going up a key and the long notes at the end. One and Only was very questionable to be added. Joyride has many similarities. And i dont have any true colours, i actually Love the songs on that list, even the ones that lambs dont like such as Youre Mine and Angels Cry. Dont try to turn everything into an argument please. |

Last Kiss and The One are very similar tracks. For the Record is kind of 50/50 with me because I can hear the similarities but B. Cox tried enough to kind of differentiate it from the usual formula.

Hey guys, I want to do a poll about how many Mariah songs are about heartbreak/lost love. Or, how about a list of all the videos where Mariah strokes herself. Better yet, to be truly relevant in another artist's thread, I can make a list of how many songs were a result of cultural appropriation or jumping on the trend du jour. Why confine this childlike curiousity to Mariah's thread?! As long as we follow the rules, we can have some fun around here!

Well considering now you've also mentioned Angels Cry and You're Mine - you definitely know the material you're playing with. I suggest you hop on your iPod and listen to the songs yourself if you're that worried about missing anything - especially since you clearly hear similarities in certain songs. Not my favorite Mariah album, despite its sales and the love from the lambs but a very strong choice. Probably my 5th or 6th favorite.

Mariah's gonna have to up her game a lot if she's now going to be competing with Celine, Britney, AND JLo in Vegas.
Looking back on the show, I wish she would've prepared more. Vocally it was alright (6/10, I'd say); but, she doesn't move around at all. The most moving she did was come in from the back of the colosseum. They really could've done more to make the stage more exciting since the focus isn't her voice. She tried to come into the audience for ABMB, but was completely mobbed.
As I previously mentioned, a DJ did a set and played the drums and actually physically played the dance remix to Dreamlover. It was a really cool moment and something different in the show.

Mariah and Britney have 2 different demographics and Celine is performing again after her residency is over with. Jennifer's doesn't start until next year so she's a non-factor in anybody's decision making. And to the person wanting a Daydream kind of concert... hop into your time machine into the early 90s because that was 19 years ago when she was in her 20s.

Why aren't they part of this conversation if we're talking about "competitors?" I guess it's still people pitting women against women. But, really, everyone is at different times in different places so it's a moot point. If Mariah's shows sell well, that's all that matters. |
