I LOVE this song. I am so glad that Jack is under Toby's label. After all these years, maybe he'll hit it big. As soon as this song is available on iTunes, I'm buying it. I love lyrics, just perfect.

I've actually never been a big fan of Jack's music. That's not to say he's not a talented artist, because he is. His music just never really appealed to me. That having been said, "Wherever You Are" is simply outstanding. It's catchy, it's country, and I could see it being a hit.

5 months after it went for adds, this one is closing in on the top 10. I like it (I only just heard it for the first time about a month ago). I think it will hang around for a few more weeks, but not get past #7 or 8, just because of all the big songs rising (Faith, Tim, George, Dierks, LeAnn, etc.) and the big ones ahead that don't seem ready to fall (Bon Jovi, Keith, RF, Blake, etc.).

Might as well percolate this topic upward to the top, since that's where this song sure is headed! It's on fire.... 2nd largest 7-day audience gain (3.9 million) on the Daily R&R and the 2nd largest bullet. He's a threat to pass Jason Aldean, who has started to level out in audience impressions the last few days.
Congrats to Jack, and a good call by bigbluenote and Dustin J. who picked this one early.

Wow, my reply was way back in November.
I am EXTREMELY impressed! EXTREMELY! I still love this song and it deserves number one, but I wasn't sure he would make it. With Tim, Faith, Urban, Chesney, and the Flatts, it's a wonder ANY new artist can make it to the top.

In its 32nd Billboard chart week, this song is going to be the greatest gainer. I like it a lot, but although it might make #1 on R&R this coming week, on Billboard it won't. It's too hard to make up a 3.5 million impression gap on vs. another song that's still gaining.
One more week, and maybe it can take the honors at both formats. Dierks is willing to wait, I imagine.
And didn't Josh Turner just set a record for greatest number of weeks needed to reach #1 on Billboard? He broke Billy Currington's record that was only a couple of months old. Now the record might be broken again.
Of course when Kenny Rogers gets to #1 in his 50th chart week, that'll be a record that's hard to break.

It's a done deal that Jack's #1 on R&R this week.
His average audience gain per day since early November has been about 200,000.
The average daily spin gain in that time is 24.
His average bullet has been 160.
In the past four weeks he's climbed roughly twice as fast as those averages.

I ought to edit my previous post to take out the part about Ingram not being able to get to #1 on Billboard. The more certainty I feel, the more likely I'll be wrong.
It's fun watching a battle between two small labels for the top position. I'm assuming Jack's song will drop now, but I'd be delighted if it could gain another 2 million this coming week.

More kudos to those here who picked this one as a hit, way back when. It just occured to me that this song never appeared on Billboard's HitPredictor chart! It's a little embarrassing that Billboard's #1 song "wasn't good enough" to make the cut on that song research chart.

I think Hit Predictor was stuck rooting for Trisha's song -- they still list her, a bit too hopefully, at #65. Not sure it will come through for them, but then again, Hit Predictor is all about predicting the obvious, and not about identifying a song like Ingram's. They march out on limbs and predict that Tim McGraw and Kenny Chesney will have hits.

They'll get around to nominating RF for the honor. They can't find Little Big Town anywhere, but they'll find RF.
I'm more curious about how fast they'll latch on to Pat Green's song, after letting Ingram's go by the wayside. Maybe Texas music is becoming respectable enough to spin at country radio. (It probably helps that Pat and Jack have left the edginess out recently.)

If so, then I sure hope they start to spin Allison Moorer when she releases her new single/album.

What a gigantic drop for Jack today on the daily R&R...
Down 897K in audience and 84 spins.
So, an extremely fast climb to get to #1 in recent weeks, and then he starts falling like a stone. Hmmmmm.

I'm not suspicious.
If you're keeping score at home, here's one vote for "I don't care much, and as far as I'm concerned this is a legitimate #1 song." Also a hope that we could avoid all the obligatory comments about payola for one solid week.
I'd settle for a slowdown....

Sad to see some people here are apologists for corruption. Ingram's insanely steep dive continues today, and the graphs show his song has the sharpest rise/fall i've ever seen on a chart since 2004 when I started following them.
We're here to follow charts. I'll talk about bought #1's in cases like this where it's become completely blatant. If that offends some sensibilities, so be it.
I don't have it in for Jack. Earlier in this thread you can tell that. I've soured on this song since then because of out-and-out blatant way it got to #1. Forgive me for being cynical.

Perp, my problem is that a thread about a new single from Reba maybe garners 10 posts. Yet her named is mentioned over and over and over again in other threads anytime there is even an appearance of suspicious chart activity for another song. Sad to see some people here are apologists for corruption. Ingram's insanely steep dive continues today, and the graphs show his song has the sharpest rise/fall i've ever seen on a chart since 2004 when I started following them. We're here to follow charts. ^^ I personally didn't bring up Reba, but I'll agree that particular episode has probably been re-hashed enough. I got the impression you and Zazie were telling me to shut up, but I think it's a legit thing to point out when some chart activity doesn't 'look right'.

Iam not a "Apologist" for corruption. I just accept that labels do it, and its been done plenty of times before and will happen again. Heck look at some of "Why" reporters this week. WBEE": 63 spins (35 overnight) KWJJ 81 spins (48 overnight). Those cd preview "buy" spots happen vritually weekly. Ironically when Billboard changed over from spins to audience, that was done to stop this, but labels found a way to maximize impact on the audience chart as well.

The Toby Keith song to which I referred was 'Stays In Mexico'; the spin buying spree for that song made NO sense since it was toast by its 12th week on R&R's chart.
I know nothing about anything suspicious regarding a Terri Clark single, so you'll have to clue me in.

Thanks. :) I don't remember that one. I guess I forgot about it or wasn't paying attention to that song. I know nothing about anything suspicious regarding a Terri Clark single, so you'll have to clue me in. "Girls Lie Too" is the Terri Clark song that generated some suspicion. Here is the original Pulse thread for "GLT" where the suspicions were first mentioned.
