Not sure if serious. ???
All this time I had more or less agreed with your posts up until this one point. :'(
For it's time, Monster was perfection, and probably the only thing on par with 'Bad Romance' on TFM. That remix is silly and kills the melody, idc if it hits harder. Dead serious. 'Monster' was a great concept that was totally ruined by the written melody and production. She's talking about somebody eating her heart and how she kind of enjoys it, so I'm immediately coming into it expecting the song to sound strikingly dark, or even some kind of over the top ecstatic s**t (kind of both are present in that remix-- not saying it was perfect but that build up is kind of frantic and excited, and the chorus drops into this kind of dark and hallow banger)-- but what I got was this kind of chilled out R&B pop hybrid? I'm fine with contrasting the lyrical content to the music, but that felt like such an arbitrary pairing and I still cannot get into it at all. To compare 'Monster' to 'Bad Romance' is utterly bizarre to me.
For a RedOne song I felt the tone of the song was 'dark' enough sounding for the theme (while still being a club track ofc). The discordant melody matches the metaphor of the song pretty well, I always thought.
I guess we just have different ideas of what to expect for a song called Monster from Lady GaGa during that era. I recall a lot of people being disappointed that it got snubbed as a single.

I saw the edit RE: my bizarre comment, lmaoooo. What I mean is that I just think one is in a whole other league, despite their similarities. The difference was a lot of the melody/production-- compare the verses in 'Bad Romance' to 'Monster'. Completely different. Positively dark verses that lead into this epic monster of a chorus, and that breakdown...? 'Monster' had none of that. The song just didn't work at all for me. I know it was really popular too, and I'm not going to act like I don't get why it was; I just didn't care for it and I know even Gaga herself fought against it as a single.

You have to keep in mind though that they were obviously going for a throwback 80's/90's sort of vibe with Monster, meanwhile BR was literally meant to be one notch above Poker Face in terms of contemporary sound. You are right though, the verses in Monster definitely trump BR both lyrically and in melodic complexity. ;) I think you're just biased toward things which are loud and have more daring production, but there are way more parts to a song than that. js

1. Born This Way - It's stacked with great songs... probably the best group of non-singles from any of her albums. "Americano" and "Highway Unicorn" were the only songs I didn't care much for, but everything else was definitely my "favorite" song on the album at one point in time. 2. The Fame Monster - This is a solid album and I can't complain much about any of the songs. "Alejandro" will (probably) forever be my favorite Gaga song. 3. The Fame - It was a toss-up between this and ARTPOP, but I think the album tracks of The Fame are better. 4. ARTPOP - I love the singles + "Mary Jane Holland", but everything else is hit and miss. "Aura", "Manicure", "Jewels n' Drugs", "Swine" and "Dope" are all sh*t.

I love the 80s and 90s, but to say 'Monster' took any notes from the 90s is a stretch and even with the 80s feel, it's still a terribly weak effort to me. *shrug*

1. The Fame - Her most cohesive effort. Sure, fame and fortune are superficial subject matter. But she tied them together into such a neat, catchy, quirky package that still sounds fresh to my ears. 2. ARTPOP - The production is delightfully glossy and the singles are on par with her best hits. The rest of the tracks are aging really well too, not a single song I dislike. 3. The Fame Monster - I think this one gets a lot of love because of "Bad Romance" and "Telephone," both of which undeniably slay. Apart from "Dance In The Dark" and "Alejandro," the rest of the songs are forgettable and overrated. 4. Born This Way - The singles, "Hair," and "Scheiße" are all excellent. But the album is dragged down by duds like "Bloody Mary," "Highway Unicorn," and "Electric Chapel." It's also difficult to separate this album from her general persona/presence that era, which I found obnoxious and alienating.

She just played in an odd market and arena two nights ago. She played in Las Vegas the night before (MGM Grand), which is pretty standard for A-level acts. Then the next night she plays a show in Stateline, NV in a 7,000 seat arena? Yes, I get that it is the Lake Tahoe area, but still, seems very out of left field and small potatoes in terms of size of of the arena and proximity to much larger markets (SF / Sacramento / San Joe).

They've had a huge summer concert series going this year. Her, Bruno Mars, Rascal Flatts/Sheryl Crow, Carrie Underwood, etc. All acts that normally sell out larger venues, and in that proximity to larger markets, too, as you mentioned. Maybe she was just going for something different with the show? IDK.

I understand Tahoe is a big vacation destination, so I would imagine the tourism board/local municipalities have somehow incentivized big acts to come play the arena to attract more tourists.

Hey, so I'm seeing Gaga tomorrow. I'm thrilled but I just saw that there were a couple of floor tickets left. Should I sell my seat tickets for the floor tickets instead? I'm not sure what to do. Help me out ASAP!!

Help me out ASAP!! If you don't mind being around fans that scream, dance, and move, then go for it, I loved it. The GA is usually about $100 and it was a great experience, I really enjoyed the show as well. :)

1. Artpop (loved it from day 1...still do...and yes, I still bro out to Applause EVERY. SINGLE. TIME.) 2. The Fame Monster (essentially, a fully realized album. I don't even treat it as an EP, really. Dance In The Dark is not my favorite by any stretch, but it's still better than most of the loud, schizo shit on BTW) 3. The Fame (the hits are great, but I'm also obsessed with Starstruck and the other jams) 4. BTW (hasn't aged well in the least for me. EOG, Y&I, Scheisse, and a couple others still go hard though)
I enjoy all her albums to some extent but some more than others, obviously.

Probably. But would be amazing if we got one more with a video. Gypsy, that is.

Paparazzi is the video that really made me a huge fan... I actually disliked her when Just Dance was a hit.. Thought she was just another Akon-related nobody lol.
