thanks! I really don't think there is a bad song on here. The only song I really don't care for would probably be the last one lol..my favorites are "Somewhere only we know" and "Stop Drop and Roll"

Nothin' Like You, Parking Brake, I Heard Goodbye, and Party Girl are my favorite tracks so far after the first listen. This album is very strong.

Did they already pull it down, because all I can see are Cole Swindell and Frankie Ballard songs?

Unfortunately, it was taken down a few hours ago after being on soundcloud since Friday. However, the album will be streaming starting tomor row on Spotify. I believe iTunes Radio First Play will be streaming it as well. I actually listened to the album a few times today, it's very good. I'm hoping to hear "I Heard Goodbye" on the radio someday, beautiful song. The song seems to be a favorite among the people who have streamed the album. Dan + Shay stated that it's their favorite song on the album.

Just another Fla-Ga Line with better voices and a little younger target audience imo. The songs all sound the same and have the same theme. I didn't dislike anything I heard but I didn't hear anything that was a game changer either.

Just another Fla-Ga Line with better voices and a little younger target audience imo. The songs all sound the same and have the same theme. I didn't dislike anything I heard but I didn't hear anything that was a game changer either. On the contrary, it's not like FGL at all. Yes, it's pop-leaning (as one would expect given their backgrounds) but "Where It All Began" is not an album of all party songs. In fact, it's no different than many albums, it talks about life and love with a major emphasis on love.

Just because they don't have a ton of Alcohol references doesn't mean they aren't riding around partying. Fla_Ga Line is talking about the same things it just has more of sound that males like and this seems to be more geared toward females.

And the fact that young 20-something single guys are singing about girls and having a good time is bad/boring? I just don't get that logic. What do you expect them to sing about? Murder, death, hard times? They're writing about what they know. This feels more than just the 'duo tailored for females to like.' I know PLENTY of women who love FGL and there'll be plenty of men who really like Dan+Shay. All that being said, you're certainly entitled to your opinion.

If I was going to compare Dan + Shay and this album to anyone in country music it would be Rascal Flatts, not Florida Georgia Line.

Excuse Me, Where did I say this was bad or I didn't like it? I just made a comment based on my listening observation of the Album. That's the problem with the internet, it's written word can lead to interpretations of intent. So I'm sorry if I misunderstood based on the previous quote. (I did go up where you said it wasn't 'game changing' or something like that.) Anyway, stripe the bad part of the quote and the question still applies. Should Dan+Shay sing about things they don't know anything about? Because some folks ( not necessarily you) on this very board were saying that Danielle Bradbery's first single wasn't 'authentic' or something like that because she was too young to have lived the story in the song she was singing about. So artists get crushed for singing about what they know or live and get crushed when they sing about what they haven't lived or personally witnessed.

rsmatto: I have no problem with them singing about what they know, I also have no problem with FLA-Ga line singing the songs they sing. My opinion, is that Dan+Shay and FLA-GA are much the same with just a slightly different sound. Neither of them have much diversity on their Debut Album and the songs all sound the same and have the sound themes.

What else can you expect young men to write songs about? Obviously relationships, love, and heartbreak. I'm honestly impressed that Dan + Shay produced and wrote all the tracks on this album. That speaks volumes to me about their talent and potential. They're not singing songs that other people have written for them, these are their songs. Therefore, it will reflect their life experiences at ages 22 (Shay) & 26 (Dan). Just even taking a quick look on Twitter it's clear that Dan + Shay have plenty of male fans. I think this album will appeal to male and female listeners.

layne, They wrote most of the 12 tracks. Dan Smyers is the producer with Scott Hendricks and Danny Orton co-producing. They co-wrote 6 of the songs with their producer Danny Orton. The other tracks are co-writes with Nathan Chapman, Nicolle Galyon, Ben Hayslip (2 songs), and Rhett Akins (one w/ben), Ashley Gorley and Chris DeStefano (who produced that track ("Nothin' Like You") the one with Both Ben and Rhett ("Can't Say No") is one of two songs with 4 co-writers on the record. Shay is the lead vocalist on all tracks.

I'd describe Dan + Shay as a pop-leaning version of early Rascal Flatts. (Florida Georgia Line seems more rock than pop.)
"Stop Drop + Roll" will be a huge hit, and "I Heard Goodbye" is a solid pop ballad. The acoustic tracks at the end of the album are also nice.

This is a pretty solid album. It has a bunch of hit potential. I really like "Nothin Like You", "Somewhere Only We Know", and "I Heard Goodbye"

Yeah, they are going to be huge...first new act that leaves no doubt in my mind. The entire album is solid but this is what I would go with single wise.
1. 19 You + Me Next Couple Weeks (Once current single hits top 10) through Fall 2014 - What You Do To Me Winter 2014 - I Heard Goodbye Spring 2015 - Show You Off
The album is excellent; no really duds among the twelve tracks

They seem to want only uptempo 'ballads.' As the 4th/5th single bridging into the second album's lead single, maybe. But honestly, They'll release "Show You Off" before "I Heard Goodbye." "Nothin' Like You" or "First Time Feeling" are likely to be the 'ballad' single from this record (and COULD be the "Winter 2014" relase you show here).

I heard Goodbye is just such a strong song that I am hoping that it's not left on as an album cut
