Biggest Artists to never win CMA Male/Female

Based on a recent discussion in the general non-single thread, I thought it might be interesting to talk about some of the biggest artists who were never able to win the CMA Male or Female Vocalist of the Year awards.

Some of the most interesting to me are Kenny Chesney and Garth Brooks, who each won four Entertainer of the Years, but never won Male Vocalist of the Year, despite multiple nominations. Other very successful artists who never won are Hank Williams Jr., Collin Raye, Gary Allan (who has never been nominated - his only nomination is 2003's Horizon Award), Travis Tritt and John Anderson. Currently, I'd say Jason Aldean and Luke Bryan are the most successful artists to never have won Male Vocalist, though I think that Luke probably will soon (most likely this year).

As for Female Vocalist, despite the revolving door in the 90s, Wynonna, Jo Dee Messina, LeAnn Rimes and Sara Evans have never won. Wynonna is probably the most surprising to me out of those, but I guess by the time she went solo, The Judds had already won multiple awards, and maybe she was thought to have had her time. Shania Twain also never won, despite winning Entertainer of the Year in 1999.

I would just like to say that I know we have many injustices in this world big and small. But Gary Allan never winning a CMA or ACM award of any kind is a special kind of absurd.

Looking at both the ACM and CMA winners, there are a few that won at the ACMs but not at the CMAs.

Male: Buck Owens, Conway Twitty, Freddie Hart, Garth Brooks, Jason Aldean, Kenny Chesney, Larry Gatlin, and Mickey Gilley.
Female: Bonnie Guitar, Bonnie Owens, Cathie Taylor, Donna Fargo, Sara Evans, Sylvia, and Wynonna.
