does drunk in love hold the record for fastest falling song in airplay? Unless, it's something national irrational event ("Landslide" and "Die Young"), as I posted last week, I can't think of a song that has dropped so far so fast consistently day-to-day for three weeks. I don't understand the label's strategy. It's clear Partition is NOT going to pop at CHR, XO has been dead for months, so why wasn't something like "Blow" being serviced? (I'm sure there are a few puns in there.) This era started off with such unbelievable excitement and now four months later....

Top 10 prediction:
1. Happy 2. All of Me (if Happy didn't get that sudden spike in streaming this would probably hit #1 already this week) 3. Dark Horse 4. Talk Dirty (this is gonna set a record for the most consecutive weeks spent at #3 and 4...just like Payphone spent 13 straight weeks at #2 and #3 in 2012 5. Let It Go 6. Turn Down for What 7. Pompeii 8. Counting Stars 9. Team 10. Loyal
(NABT rise #11, BDOML #12, The Man fall to #13, Sing debut at #14)

does drunk in love hold the record for fastest falling song in airplay? Ironically, Die Young holds that honor. It was purged very harshly. We must exclude holiday songs here I guess. .... And hands up, who are STILL watching Roar? Seriously...

LOL @ Rap God returning to top 10 on Vevo...what caused the video to jump back up? Or was it just bubbling right under the top ten before and the songs above it fell this week?

(I'm sure there are a few puns in there.) This era started off with such unbelievable excitement and now four months later.... 1. I think I recall "Heart Attack" plummeting so suddenly that Az dubbed his last few airplay updates the "daily Demi damage report" or something like that. 2. Since DIL never officially got serviced to pop - pop just picked it up and spun it fairly regularly before moving on - it doesn't seem like there ever was much of a strategy for CHR....it was CHR that actually convinced the label to switch out "Blow" for "XO" in the first place, so even seeing that they were wrong on "XO," if CHR PDs are still showing any kind of sense of resistance to "Blow" then it's kind of a moot point. And if the PDs are scared of "Blow" we know they aren't ready for "Partition." There really isn't anything left on the album that 'fits' pop except "Pretty Hurts" and maybe "Mine", but it's a little dubious as to whether those two songs would do any better than DIL did. I'll be honest, I was actually pretty pessimistic about how DIL would do on pop, considering the obvious lack of push there on Bey and the label's part. It ultimately did quite a bit better than I thought it would. The big deal about the era was that she could sell albums even without a formal lead single/pop radio's support, I don't see why the label would feel the need to then run after radio to prove anything more. *shrug* I do understand what you mean about how the era started off with so much excitement though. I think she could have kept that going by doing more tv media, but alas, other than the Grammys and touring she hasn't seemed to care much about that either.

I forgot that the first-day airplay promo for "Sing" would not factor into this week's charts.
Mediabase monitoring goes back to sometime in 1998. When it became a regular feature to track online, I don't know.

Biggest single week drop from within the Hot 100 Airplay chart (the chart that has existed since 1990) - position-wise
The record holder will have it for a while since a 56 position drop is not possible anymore

I think she could have kept that going by doing more tv media, but alas, other than the Grammys and touring she hasn't seemed to care much about that either. All good points. Yeah, after CHR made a big deal about XO over Blow, I was truly surprised that CHR then turned its back on it. They really were stuck then. And, yes, DIL did far better on CHR than I expected. The whole thing was just odd watching XO fizzle. I mean, shoot, less well received JT singles have done better. I guess it's been so long since Bey had a true pop hit, that her cred at the format didn't push it up. Now there is nothing wrong with Bey having to Urban/Rhythmic CDs back-to-back, but after her IASF, it seemed like she had a winning balance between those formats and CHR. I do agree that her visibility definitely dropped after Grammy performance. The only other mainstream media buzz was Partition's video. I still think Blow would be a great late-spring/summer single.

Same list as above removing the Nov 10, 1990 data which is likely caused by the newness of the chart and it had not settled yet.

Gary, I don't think that's right. The first printed 75 position Hot 100 airplay (or Top 40 Monitor as it was then called) debuted later in the Dec 8, 1990 issue; Prior was the 40 deep Hot 100 airplay that was assembled by playlists. Is your info from Billboard or Wikipedia? (Or is it data from some unpublished test chart that leaked?)

Wikipedia? no
This comes from the .biz database
In any case, the oldest title on the revised list is 1994

I wonder if there have been any tracks- non-holiday or ones that went recurrent- that were ranked high in a week and then completely dropped off the following week (which would be a loss of 30+ positions).

I forgot that the first-day airplay promo for "Sing" would not factor into this week's charts. Mediabase monitoring goes back to sometime in 1998. When it became a regular feature to track online, I don't know. Yes, that's what I meant. To track online? The first song I remember following was Madona's Die Another Day in 2002. Pulse began in 2003...

Travelin Soldier fell from 23 to 50 on Airplay after 8 weeks of gradual increase
Landslide apparently collapsed a week later
