Another random video I did. :) The song was able to peak at #24 on R&R in July of 2006, though there really wasn't much buzz about the song I felt yet it was one of my favorites from 2006. His A Little More Livin' album was fantastic as was his self-titled debut. "So Am I" should have done better - or really anything as it only got to #53 on Mediabase. Unfortunately that would be the final single on Columbia as he would be dropped afterwards. Come to think of it I've done most of his singles from his first two albums in the random video thread.

Steve Holy - Go Home
Easily my favorite from him, and it was what, a #49. I remember when that came out, he had called into the radio station talking about it,a nd said when it reached top 20, was when they'd release the album or something like that. Yea, that never happened lol

Yea, that never happened lol #43 peak on R&R in the summer of 2005. Actually when you go back and look at Steve's discography, he actually only missed the top 30 on R&R once. "Rock-A-Bye Heart" peaked at #31 in 2003. Every single from him had made the top 40 up to that point. He would have one more non-album song ("It's My Time (Waste It If I Want To)") which peaked at #52 on R&R and #59 on Billboard in October of 2005 before finally getting another big hit with "Brand New Girlfriend". It's a shame that "Go Home" wasn't embraced by country radio. Probably his best release to date. "It's My Time (Waste It If I Want To)" was my personal second favorite of his.

Clare Dunn: "Get Out" Peaked at #41 on the Billboard® © nielsen BDS / Country Indicator Chart © Didn't go anywhere on the Billboard Country Airplay Chart. This song has all the right ingredients to be at least Top 10. Here below is the YouTube lyric video.

Some of these are great songs, some are others that I feel seemed to have better fit the current radio times during their release but failed to do much Chris Stapleton---"What are you listening to" Cody McCarver---Red Flag Matt Jenkins---Bad as I want to Drew Davis Band---Back there all the time James Wesley---Real Tracy Lawrence---It's all how you look at it Jason Meadows---18 Video Tapes (Figured at peak of War, this would have gotten picked up by a bigger label for promotion)
So many others just a few off the top of my head.

Matt Jenkins lack of success with "King Of The Castle" and "Bad As I Want To" really puzzled me. He had a good radio tour and was on Universal South which was having success at that point. Plus "Bad As I Want To" was fantastic and is a shame that it's not on iTunes. I always considered "Real" to be somewhat successful as it reached #22 on MB (no album released though was a mistake IMO). But "Jackson Hole" is still the one I was shocked wasn't a hit. I also haven't heard anybody bring up "Red Flag" before. Funny song from late 2006 that never charted. He was on a independent label though, so that one I expected never to do much. Great picks all around. :)

Sara Evans - "Put My Heart Down" She was coming off a Top 20 hit with this, there's no excuse why it couldn't have at least broke into the Top 40. If only her label hadn't been engaging in some majory fuckery last year with getting singles out (they delayed Miranda's third single a lot too, so clearly RCA needed to get their shit together), and I'm pretty sure radio would've been a lot more welcoming to another single if she were male, too.

I just found out that Alan Jackson's "The Blues Man" peaked at #37 on Billboard. Seriously??! I always assumed it was a huge hit! It was out before I really followed the radio, so I first heard it on his Greatest Hits Volume 2 cd. It's weird that they included it if it was such a minor hit. But I am fine that they did; it is such a beautiful song.

"Southern Style" - Darius Rucker
How in the world did this only peak at #33 on Billboard? It's a radio-friendly, somewhat traditional song about a southern girl. It's pretty pleasant and smooth to the ears and it has some decent lyrics. I just don't see how Darius lost so much momentum after the terrible "Homegrown Honey" became a big hit. It seemed like the right choice at the time, and I still think it was probably the best choice for a second single.

I thought My Mistake would be huge for Cam, what with it being catchy and upbeat but well written. But we got Burning House, so that's a great consolation.

"How Do You Get That Lonely?" by Blaine Larsen. I actually get that one. Songs about suicide usually don't get bumped up to heavy rotation. Rascal Flatts "Why" suffered a similar peak in 2009.

"Night That You'll Never Forget" - Love & Theft
Even though Love & Theft had two straight flops after "Angel Eyes", I thought this would be the song to get them back in the Top-10. It was a song about familiar party themes but the pleasant production allowed it to stand out from similar songs. This just seemed like the perfect song for them to reclaim some of their lost momentum but unfortunately it only earned a #34 peak on Billboard and its poor performance led to them being dropped form RCA Nashville.

Yeah, sometimes I forget that quality isn't the only determinant of whether or not a song is a hit. I can see how the serious subject matter doesn't lend itself to being played a lot. It's a #1 in my book though.

The youth of Blaine. Just an amazing song and performance.

Logan Mize - "Can't Get Away From A Good Time"
I think Country radio did themselves a disservice not embracing this one. It unspeakably got lost in the shuffle.

Lindsay Ell "By The Way".
I was legitimately stunned that this couldn't even get past the 40s on country radio. This song was radio friendly, blended pop and country nearly perfectly and Lindsay Ell just showed such enthusiasm while singing this.

Didn't dislike it all, but sounded like it would have fit in more during the late 2000's. That's just my though on it.

Trisha Yearwood featuring Garth Brooks - "Where Your Road Leads"
Current reigning CMA Female Vocalist of the Year releasing a single featuring the Entertainer of the Year, coming off of arguably four of the biggest hits of her career in a row ("How Do I Live", "In Another's Eyes", "Perfect Love", "There Goes My Baby"). This rose quite quickly, and then I was shocked when it ended up stalling out at #18. I still don't get that.
