I understand everyone has their own opinion, but out of any band, I would think Rise Against would be one of the furthest from boring out there with so much energy in their music.

Boring and annoying. I really hope that not too many active rock stations fall into the trap of playing this. It really doesn't even belong on that format. What format does it belong on then? Country, Tropical, Christian contemporary perhaps? Song is awesome, first great song by them since Re-education

Everyone has thier opinion. I love the Indie/PopRock sound because I I'm from the 80's. So here is my 2 cents. The term Alternative didn't start in the 90's . The term has been around since mid 80's with bands like the Cure and Depeche Mode. They got thier start with the genres New Wave and Syth Pop. the reasonI think why IndiePop/Rock is so popular is because its leaning towards the 80's synth pop sound. The term Alternative has always been very very vague. KROQ even played Tom petty , Cheap Trick and Queen during the 80's, but even in the 90's your favourite Alt/Rock station was playing Matchbox Twenty and Erasure Blind side by side with STP and Nine Inch Nails, so I really don't see all the bickering of Lorde and Capital Cities being played on Alt/Rock. For me its an easy transition. At least Alt Rock isn't afraid of the synthesizer anymore. Its exactly like when Suicidal Tendencies ,Missing Persons and Sparks(I love all 3 bands) were on the same playlist. I was happy then and I'm happy now. Anyway, with that out of the way, I think I 'm liking this new Rise Against song. I'm not going nuts over it, like I did with "Saviour" That's a classic! At the same Time I think it might fair better on Mainstream rock than on Alternative charts for all the reasons I just stated above. I wish it would, but it probobly wont? Well said. I know that Alt radio becoming so indie-centric is really just a return to its roots, but when it abandons 20+ years of diversifying I think that turns a lot of people off. I think the format was a lot better in 2010 and 2011, when it was still open to giving bands like Three Days Grace and Stone Sour top 10 hits right along side Mumford & Sons and Phoenix. Boring and annoying. I really hope that not too many active rock stations fall into the trap of playing this. It really doesn't even belong on that format. What format does it belong on then? Country, Tropical, Christian contemporary perhaps? Song is awesome, first great song by them since Re-education It belongs on Alternative. The guitars on this are so light and mixed together, it might as well not have guitars. The drums sound like something out of a video game and other than Tim's typical "I'm trying too hard" vocals there is no reason for this to be picked up by an active rock station. Just my opinion, of course.

In 2010-11, we had the following bands hit top ten. Three Days Grace, Stone Sour, Rise Against, Breaking Benjamin, Flyleaf, Pearl Jam, Bush, Chevelle, Alice in Chains along with Anberlin, Jimmy Eat World, Silversun Pickups and the upcoming indie movement, Mumford, Phoenix, Civil Twilight, The Black Keys. Even veteran indie bands like DCFC and The Killers got in. Suddenly, the core artists are being neglected, and it's a fucking sham.

The iidea that a 5th single like "The Crow And The Butterfly" barely missed the top 5 in 2010, but a huge lead single like "Bully" peaks at #15 two years later is a sad trend. And sadly, it was something that was incredibly easy to predict. Alternative fans always liked to claim that they had the most diverse rock format, which was true for awhile. Now they'd have a tough time arguing they aren't the least diverse.

Then again, that's two genres more than Alt is willing to accept...

^You have to look at recurrents too though, since that is really the bulk of what most active stations play. While the three genres you mentioned cover a lot of that ground, you also have true grunge, hair metal, rap-rock, classic rock and more.

This is a step backward for Rise Against imo. Top 5 Active but I can see it only going Top 20 on Alt. If Linkin Park can't have success with a heavy song on Alt, I don't think Rise Against will fare any better.

If we're going to keep making the LP comparison, this took off quite a bit faster than Guilty All The Same on Alt, which seems like it took forever to hit Top 50.

It hasn't even had a full week yet, so I'm not ready to say this is going to do anything massive on the format, but I'm surprised at how much more this seems to be accepted than LP's first single.

This is already about as high as it should go on Active. But it will probably go top 10 and out peak lead singles from Black Stone Cherry and Hellyeah, because the format is stupid like that.

Officially beaten Guilty All The Same's Alternative spin peak, at 679 compared to LP's 666. Doubt the comparison has to go on anymore since it's quite obvious who was more successful.

So Tennis Court just suddenly had a huge bullet after losing spins. That's weird. Rise Against should pass it soon though.

It's gaining spins, but it's not moving up. I don't get this.
It was 88 spins behind Tennis Court yesterday, today it's 62. At this rate, it'll pass it on Tuesday, but I don't like how slow it's taking Rise Against to shoot past a fourth single.
EDIT: And past that, it's 140 spins to catch up to the re-bulleted Best Friend. Come fucking on.

I think this will hit a point where it just starts to stall out quickly after the buzz is over. I can't see it hitting Top 10 with the current climate of the format. I'm surprised it took off this fast so it isn't surprising me that the bullet is fading a little already. It's not going to get a strong start like Coming of Age did in January.
