Sonically Blank Space is the best choice for single number two given the season, I'd rather have Style but Blank Space will be huge.

Reading comparisons to one-hit wonder Carly Rae Jepsen is NOT giving me that confidence that I need that I will LOVE this album as much as I loved Red or Speak Now. I don't want to hear any bland, generic, faceless pop fluff but I am still gonna buy the album on good faith alone. I broke down and listened to a clip of Blank Space and was very impressed. However, the song Style that everyone is crowing about, based on the bit I heard in the commercial, sounds like a Cover Girl or shampoo commercial, which I think one review of the album actually brought up. Hopefully, I will love it in full. The songs I am most intrigued to her are Wildest Dreams (as a Lana stan) and Clean.

This is by far one of Taylor's best albums. You will be missing out not listening to it. This is what Katy Perry's "Prism" should of been one year ago.

Hopefully, I will love it in full. The songs I am most intrigued to her are Wildest Dreams (as a Lana stan) and Clean. -- It doesn't sound particularly Kiss, so don't worry. I know people like that album and probably mean it as a compliment, but I'm just not hearing it -- save for the idea that there's some electronic dance-pop production. But you can say that about so many recent pop albums - Betty Who, Tove Lo, Tegan and Sara, etc - I don't think any sounds particularly like 1989. -- Overall, I think people are reaching with some of the comparisons in general. The ones I'd agree with: *A slight bit of Lorde/Joel Little on the production for "Blank Space," but not at all something you'd say sounds like a Lorde song. *A slight bit of Lorde in the lyrics/aesthetic for "I Know Places," but not at all something you'd say sounds like a Lorde song. *Wildest Dreams absolutely sounds like Lana. Lyrics, delivery, etc. This one is impossible to deny. *Definitely some Katy on the verses for Bad Blood (I'm sure by design). Maybe a hint of Avril in the chorus. -- There is an element to the Style "lyric" that seems somewhat inauthentic and not at all the dorky-Taylor that dances awkwardly at awards shows, wears T-shirts and sneakers from the bleachers and made the Shake it Off video. But what people are loving about that - and what I think you most likely will too - is the sound. It has this cool guitar-ish lick that sounds like something you'd expect to have heard in Scarface or Miami Vice. The breathy pre-chorus is also really cool, and the chorus itself is just absurdly catchy. Real winner of a song.

I thought the same exact thing about Style upon first listen from the snippet, I thought it was going to be bland and that I wouldn't like it honestly. But after hearing it in its entirety, it really is a great song. I thought it was gonna be something like Gaga's Fashion which I wasn't here for, you'll be pleasantly surprised.

Thank you for that assessment, kanimal! Like I said, I was planning on buying anyway but was just a little...nervous. Not so much now!

IDK, there's a lot of cheese in this album. "I Wish You Would" is another disappointment.

IDK, there's a lot of cheese in this album. "I Wish You Would" is another disappointment. That's probably the weakest thing here (save for Welcome to NY). The lyrics are very "Taylor" with the 2AM reference, etc., and I think Jack Antonoff's music is cool by itself, but they don't mesh well at all.

Thank you for that assessment, kanimal! Like I said, I was planning on buying anyway but was just a little...nervous. Not so much now! For me, Style is a lot darker than that Target ad let on. The verses actually make me think it's about to be about sex. Truly. "He's taking off his coat" sounds like she wanted to say "clothes" instead.

Taylor is killing it on Canadian iTunes.
1. "Style" 2. "Shake It Off" 4. "Wonderland" 5. "Welcome to New York" 6. "Blank Space" 9. "Clean" 10. "New Romantics" 11. "I Know Places" 13. "How You Get The Girl" 14. "This Love" 15. "Out of the Woods" 16. "Wildest Dreams" 18. "All You Had To Do Was Stay" 20. "Bad Blood" 22. "I Wish You Would"
"You R In Love" isn't on the Canadian deluxe edition, apparently.

Um, yeah, the more I hear it, the more I think "Wildest Dreams" is one of the best things Taylor's ever done. Up there with "Enchanted" and "Safe & Sound."

Looks like Blank Space is the next single. Both z100 and KIIS FM started playing it today. Is it? I just heard How You Get the Girl on Z100 less than an hour ago.

![:dead:](http://ruadventures.com/forum/Smileys/animated/smiley_resurrect_grave.gif) at Taylor walking out to "Our Song" on Ellen today. Of all songs...

Definitely not her best album but a solid effort. Some tracks are a real miss for me but some are great. I love "This Love"!

"This Love" reminds me of Britney's chill/lounge songs. I love it. This could be the pop album of the decade.

Sad that this isn't on Spotify, not that I'm surprised. So instead, I'll listen to 'Red' for the very first time, since it's available to stream :)

OBSESSED!! Already listened three times since midnight, and probably about to do it again. I don't dislike any track (although "Clean" is just okay), and I can honestly say I love over 50% of the songs. The songs where the chorus incorporates an acoustic guitar are my favorites.
1. "Welcome To New York" - I like it more than most seem to. Catchy chorus, and the lyrics work as an album opener. 2. "Blank Space" - Should make a great second single. Awesome hook and shows a lot of personality. 3. "Style" - Fantastic hook! Been stuck in my head all day. 4. "Out Of The Woods" - Still flawless 5. "All You Had To Do Was Stay" - I don't like the weird yells of "Stay!" but the hook in general is pretty solid. 6. "Shake It Off" - Still flawless [2] 7. "I Wish You Would" - Not sold on the hook, but it's a pretty good song overall. 8. "Bad Blood" - Really catchy! But I don't like how the verses seem to build just to come to a halt at the chorus. 9. "Wildest Dreams" - :o at Taylor basically doing a sex song. I mean, it's more about afterwards but some of the lyrics are pretty risqué. I like the Lana vibe. 10. "How To Get The Girl" - Reminds me of 90s teen pop. Fun song. 11. "This Love" - Kinda dull, but sung nicely. 12. "I Know Places" - Love the verses a lot. Chorus is decent. 13. "Clean" - Kinda boring, but I don't dislike it.
Haven't heard the deluxe tracks yet, but hopefully that'll change soon.

According to Kurt, "Blank Space" has a HAC adds date, so it is very likely the next single. :)

As Au$tin guessed, iHeartMedia (formerly Clear Channel) stations are apparently playing an album track at the top of every hour; plus, they're airing her Secret Session with iHeartRadio performance tonight.

Somewhere in a dark corner, Katy Perry is crying cuz her record will be snatched. In another corner, John Mayer is j3rking off to this flawless album.
