Lol once again they cannot figure out how songs that have artist crediting change mid-run work.

Perfect ranked her #1 Hot 100 hit when she was only credited for five weeks. A very embarrassing snafu on their end. They also included the entire chart runs of "Savage" and "Mi Gente" when they originally charted without her prior to the remixes.

Meanwhile on the GOAT Hot 100 Artist list updated in November they did the opposite; she had zero points from "Savage" attributed to her.

No one can deny BTS’ impact on not just K-pop but music as a whole. With members of ARMY (the name of their extremely loyal fanbase) stationed all over the world, RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V and Jungkook have reached Beatles-like levels of superstardom most musical acts can only dream of achieving.

The septet has come a long way since debuting as a hip-hop group in 2013 under a virtually unknown label. They made their first major move on the Billboard charts in 2017 when their album Love Yourself: Her emerged at No. 7 on the Billboard 200, becoming the highest ever debut for a K-pop act. The album’s lead single “DNA” was their first entrance on the Hot 100, but the chart moves don’t end there. Their first all-English-language single “Dynamite” became their first to debut at the summit in 2020. A number of their other tracks have made history on the charts since, including collaborations with Halsey, Nicki Minaj, Coldplay and more.

I'm pretty sure BTS was only credited for the one week they were on the remix to Savage Love, correct? It was probably the only reason it hit #1, but Billboard still being questionable with their crediting by assigning ALL weeks to them.

Also, looking at Pink's rankings, I'm a bit surprised to see So What beating out Just Give Me A Reason for #1. It only spent a week at #1 compared to the latter's 3, they both spent 15 weeks in the top 10, but the latter spent 5 more weeks total on the chart than the former (36 to 31). I get that they probably weighed 2008 more than 2013, but it didn't seem that the average chart runs were too different between those years, and that JGMAR's slightly extra weeks would still have made up for it.

Naomi Judd, one half of the iconic duo The Judds (with her daughter Wynonna) passed away unexpectedly Saturday, April 30, at age 76. Though no specific cause of death was given, Wynonna and Naomi’s other daughter Ashley said in a statement to The Associated Press that she died “of the disease of mental illness.”


The Judds, the most successful female duo of all time, were about to be inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame on Sunday (May 1).

Between 1983 and 2000 the mother-daughter team rolled up 25 Hot Country Songs appearances, which encompassed 14 No. 1s and 20 top 10s.

Starting with “Mama He’s Crazy,” their first No. 1 in August 1984, and “Cry Myself to Sleep” in January 1987, the pair snapped up eight straight leaders. Their 14 No. 1s rank them first among female duos and second among all twosomes to Brooks & Dunn (20).

On Top Country Albums, The Judds scored 10 top 10s, including four No. 1 sets.

Mickey Gilley, the piano-playing crooner who grew up with his cousins Jerry Lee Lewis and Reverend Jimmy Swaggart, passed away May 7 at age 86 in Branson, Mo.

Between 1968 and 1989, Gilley posted 46 entries on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart, which included 17 No. 1s among 34 top 10s. He also posted 27 entries on Top Country Albums, encompassing 10 top 10s. Two LPs hit No. 1: 1974’s Room Full of Roses and City Lights, which reached the pinnacle in 1975.


Gilley, who was born in Natchez, Miss., on March 9, 1936, hit the top of Hot Country Songs with his first of 17 leaders in June 1974, when “Room Full of Roses” led for a week. His final trip to the penthouse was also his only collaboration to hit No. 1: 1983’s “Paradise Tonight,” with Charley McClain.

Gilley was at the peak of his career in 1980 when the film Urban Cowboy was released. Much of the movie, starring John Travolta and Debra Winger and featuring Gilley, was shot at Gilley’s, the gigantic honky-tonk in Pasadena, Texas, which the singer opened in 1972. The club’s prized possession was the mechanical bull, which Travolta’s character “Bud” rode numerous times. (Sadly, the club burned down in an arson fire in 1990.)

The Urban Cowboy soundtrack remained at No. 1 on Top Country Albums for eight weeks beginning in August 1980 and peaked at No. 3 on the all-genre Billboard 200 in September 1980 during a 53-week run.

Also from the movie soundtrack was Gilley’s version of Sam Cooke’s “Stand by Me,” which topped Hot Country Songs. It climbed to No. 22 on the Hot 100 in August 1980, becoming Gilley’s lone hit on the all-format survey.

Gilley’s last appearance on Hot Country Songs was in 1989 when “There I Said It Again” reached No. 53 that August.

In honor of Stevie Nicks’ birthday (May 26), we’ve rounded up her biggest hits on the Billboard Hot 100 songs chart.

The recap not only includes her solo material, but also the Fleetwood Mac songs she wrote and sang lead vocals on.

In the top spot we have her collaboration with Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, “Stop Draggin’ My Heart Around,” which peaked at No. 3 on the Hot 100 chart on Sept. 5, 1981 and is also Tom Petty’s biggest hit on the chart. The track, which was Nicks’ debut solo single and lead track off her first album, Bella Donna, spent 21 weeks on the list, more than any solo or Fleetwood Mac songs. Bella Donna also reached No. 1 on the Billboard 200 album chart.

The No. 2 spot on the list belongs to Nicks’ quintessential Fleetwood Mac song, “Dreams,” which gave the band their only No. 1 hit. The ethereal track experienced an uptick in popularity since its 1977 release, when it soundtracked a TikTok of a man cruising on a skateboard and drinking cranberry juice that went viral in 2020.

In a 1989 interview, Nicks is very candid about how “Rooms on Fire” was very close to her own personal life at the time: “‘Rooms on Fire’ is about me. ‘Rooms on Fire’ is about a girl who is a rock n roll star, who has pretty much accepted the fact that she will never, ever, be able to be married or have those children that she wanted.” But the song is also about meeting someone who changes all those expectations. The track was released as the lead single for Nicks’ fourth solo album, The Other Side of the Mirror, and spent 14 weeks on the Hot 100.

“I Can’t Wait,” No. 16, April 12, 1986

According to the Timespace liner notes, Nicks wrote this song after Rock a Little co-producer and her friend since she was 18 Rick Nowels brought her a percussion track and asked if she would consider writing a song for it. Nicks was immediately inspired: “I listened to the song once, and pretended not to be that knocked out, but the second Rick left, I ran in my little recording studio and wrote ‘I Can’t Wait.’ It took all night, and I think it is all about how electric I felt about this music.” The vocal was done in one take, and the song was on the Hot 100 for 13 weeks. “Edge of Seventeen,” No. 11, April 17, 1982

Like many of Nicks’ compositions, “Edge of Seventeen” was inspired by an amalgamation of things. First, according to Rolling Stone, the title came from a conversation with Tom Petty’s then-wife, who told Nicks that she and Petty met at “the age of 17” – but due to her accent, Nicks understood “edge of 17.” She had also been moved by the recent death of John Lennon, and her uncle’s illness and eventual death, per her Timespace liner notes. “Edge of Seventeen” has become one of Nicks’ most enduring solo songs, having been covered by many artists over the years and recently sampled by Miley Cyrus on her single “Midnight Sky.” It stayed on the Hot 100 for 14 weeks. Stevie Nicks laid the groundwork for her mystical reputation with the release of “Rhiannon,” which was the second single from Fleetwood Mac’s eponymous White Album. The album was the first to feature Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham, and “Rhiannon” was the first Fleetwood Mac single ever to feature Nicks as the lead vocalist. According to Rolling Stone, Nicks penned the song before she and Buckingham joined the band, inspired by a novel called Triad, which told the story of a Welsh woman who believes she’s been possessed by a woman named Rhiannon. Nicks was so taken with the name that she “wrote [the] song and made [Rhiannon] into what [she] thought was an old Welsh witch.” “Rhiannon” stayed on the Hot 100 for 18 weeks. Listen here.

“Sara” (Fleetwood Mac), No. 7, Feb. 2, 1980

“Sara” is said to be inspired by different difficult situations in Nicks’ life in the late ‘70s. It’s well known that during the making of Rumours, Nicks left her boyfriend, Fleetwood Mac guitarist Lindsey Buckingham, and later had an affair with drummer Mick Fleetwood. Fleetwood left Nicks for her friend Sara, and married her, which the song is partly about. In a 2014 interview, Nicks told Billboard that the song was also when she got pregnant with then-boyfriend Don Henley’s baby and got an abortion: “Had I married Don and had that baby, and had she been a girl, I would have named her Sara. But there was another woman in my life named Sara, who shortly after that became Mick’s wife, Sara Fleetwood.” “Sara” was a significant hit for Fleetwood Mac, hitting the Hot 100 for 14 weeks. “Stand Back,” No. 5, Aug. 20, 1983

One of Nicks’ signature solo songs, “Stand Back” famously featured an uncredited appearance by Prince, who played synthesizer on the track. Nicks had been inspired to write the song after hearing “Little Red Corvette” on the radio on a drive to Santa Barbara on the day she got married, she wrote in the liner notes for Timespace. It has become a staple of Nicks’ live set over the years. “I never get tired of it. ‘Stand Back’ has always been my favorite song onstage because when it starts, it has an energy that comes from somewhere unknown and it seems to have no timespace,” she wrote. “Talk to Me” was released as the lead single for Nicks’ third solo album Rock a Little. The synth-heavy ‘80s hit was written by Chas Sanford. In the liner notes for Timespace, Nicks recalls loving the lyrics but having a hard time singing the song. “It took a long time to finish it though, because I couldn’t quite get the right feeling on it,” she wrote. She finally got a satisfying vocal when drummer Jim Keltner joined a session one night, and the song went on to spend 18 weeks on the Hot 100. Listen here.

“Leather and Lace” (with Don Henley), No. 6, Jan. 23, 1982

In the liner notes of her 1991 compilation album Timespace: The Best of Stevie Nicks, Nicks writes that she originally wrote “Leather and Lace” for Waylon Jennings and his wife (Jessi Colter), trying to illustrate what it’s like to be romantically involved with someone in the same business, a predicament Nicks has experienced plenty of times over. She recorded the demo with her ex-boyfriend, Eagles lead singer and drummer Don Henley. When she found out that Jennings and his wife had broken up and that he wanted to sing it alone, she told him “that only four people in this world could sing this song: [Jennings] and his wife, or me and Don Henley.” Henley and Nicks ended up recording the duet for her debut solo album Bella Donna, and the song stuck around the Hot 100 chart for 19 weeks. “Dreams” (Fleetwood Mac), No. 1, June 18, 1977

While Lindsey Buckingham wrote “Go Your Own Way” as a response to his and Nicks’ brutal breakup in 1976, Nicks wrote the less literal “Dreams,” and gave the band their only Hot 100 No. 1 hit. The song was written during the tempestuous making of their blockbuster album Rumours, on a day where Nicks wasn’t needed in the studio. Speaking to Blender in 2005, she describes going into Sly of Sly and the Family Stone’s studio, which was “a black-and-red room, with a sunken pit in the middle where there was a piano, and a big black-velvet bed with Victorian drapes.” She sat down on the bed and wrote “Dreams” in 10 minutes. Bandmate Christine McVie was unimpressed at first, saying, “It was just three chords and one note in the left hand,” and calling it “boring.” But the song became Rumours’ second single, and spent one week at No. 1, staying on the Hot 100 for a total of 23 weeks. It also found a brand-new audience in 2020, when a man skateboarding and drinking cranberry juice on TikTok soundtracked his chill moment with the classic. Listen here.

Pop icon Olivia Newton-John claimed nearly 40 entries on the Billboard Hot 100 -- including five No. 1s.

Pop icon Olivia Newton-John — who died at the age of 73 on Monday (Aug. 8) — logged an incredible catalog of hits on Billboard’s charts. She claimed nearly 40 entries on the Billboard Hot 100 — including five No. 1s.

Newton-John’s all-time biggest hit on the Hot 100 is “Physical,” which spent a whopping 10 weeks at No. 1 on the tally in late 1981 and early 1982. It’s not only her biggest hit, but also the No. 1 hit of the entire 1980s decade — it tops Billboard‘s Greatest of All Time Songs of the ’80s chart — and scored the most weeks atop the weekly Hot 100 of any song that decade.

The four-time Grammy Award winner made her Hot 100 debut with “If Not for You” in 1971 and was last on the list in 2010, when the Glee Cast took its cover of “Physical,” featuring Newton-John, to No. 89. In the 15-year span from January 1970 through December 1984, Newton-John notched 15 top 10-charting hits on the Hot 100 — the most of any female artist in that period.

The singer-actress also topped the Hot 100 with “You’re the One That I Want,” with John Travolta, from the blockbuster film Grease (in which Newton-John and Travolta starred), as well as “Magic” (from her film Xanadu), and “Have You Never Been Mellow” and “I Honestly Love You.” The latter three tracks also reached No. 1 on Billboard‘s Adult Contemporary chart — where she landed 10 chart-toppers between 1971 and 1980.

Billboard posted some updates, too (for instance, expanding Maroon 5 to a top 20). I used to think that if there were no additions since the prior posted list for an act, it wasn't noteworthy to post again. However, some rankings could/have changed, Billboard may have adjusted multipliers and such. (Some further own Madonna's list had different rankings, for example).
