First, I hope this is in the right place as the question relates to all genres. Second, I hope this hasn't been asked yet. Trying to find this answer amidst the huge board proved unsuccessful for me. We see these Mediabase request links/forms (example: mediabase.com/mmrweb/7/stationplaylistrequest.asp?format=H1&c_let=WUSN-FM) on pretty much every fan website asking people to request daily, but do we have proof that they really work? I have been getting my fan following to do the list on the regular, but honestly, I have no idea if it just doesn't work or DJs don't even take these requests into consideration. I've heard that they work AND also that it's pointless requesting on these if you aren't in the station's area (not like we're telling them what state we're in when filling out the form, anyway). Any insight on how these forms get to the hands of the stations would be great.

I hope these work.
I talked to a DJ last week on an iHeartRadio station and he mentioned that he could only take song dedications and not requests (haven't been able to do so in more than 10 years) due to that a major station's playlists are already picked and programmed ahead in advance. Sucks though, cause I used to remember calling up DJs back in the 90s and actually getting a song played.

Sorry for being this forum up. I doubt anyone replies.
But in all honesty do these work? I like to believe they work but it seems regardless if I request the song might still lose spins and audience

Yes, they work, but not in the way you think they do. Requests in general don't work like they used to. Playlists are made days in advance with little to no room for adjustment. Instead, requests are used to help form future playlists. The more a song is requested, the likelier it is to be increased in spins in later playlists. The same is for all requests, not just Mediabase request lists.
