I like this song but I'm going to agree with a few of you and say that Lady A has not had the best promotions of any song they have released. The only time they have released promotions for anything are their first singles from their albums ("Need You Now", "Downtown", "Bartender"). They haven't had anything like Little Big Town has done hosting the CMA Fest. They appeared on American Idol but I don't really think that it has made a difference either as it hasn't boosted sales for "Bartender" because it's new. I don't really know why "Goodbye Town" and "Wanted You More" didn't make it either just like that Little Big Town's "Your Side of the Bed" and "Sober" didn't make it for them either.

This may be my favorite single of theirs to date. Love the melody.

Good melody, good lyrics. I like how it's upbeat and kinda somber at the same time. Fits the material well.

I know many, myself included, wondered why they were already moving onto another album. According to an interview from last week, doing that " just made sense." "Up until a few months ago we weren't sure if we were going to do another single off Golden. We're still so unbelievably proud of that record. But as it got closer to time when we would release our next single, it just made more sense [to release a new song]. We were far enough along in the process of making our new record that we were ready for something fresh. And then when 'Bartender' happened, we were like, 'OK, let's have some fun'."

My thoughts exactly They were ready to move on from "Golden" because GT sabotaged the era, and everyone can forget about everything that went wrong by having them move on as soon as possible.

During the FanFairX Q&A they did on Sunday, they mentioned album out some time in the fall, however, later that night when doing press before LPField performance, Charles said the label came to them about moving date up some cause of the success of Bartender. And on that subject, in an interview before CMT Awards, Charles said he doesn't think they've have a single take off on itunes as well as Bartender has and I was just confused by that statement. And if he needs reminding, Bartender is selling so far at the pace Downtown did its first few weeks. And Bartender was their highest debuting single on the country charts and went #1 faster than any other their songs, so I don't know what he's talking about.
And in reference to above interview, yes I believe their team completely screwed up the Golden era. I always wondered since they were still finishing the album when Hillary found out she was pregnant, why not just put it on hold and release it in the fall then tour it Rather than release it in May, then release a Deluxe version a few months later.
And from same interview "When we released “Compass” it was embraced so well, and we could tell our fans—and I believe country radio—were just wanting uptempo from us, and wanting energy. Not wanting another mid-tempo [song] or ballad. They wanted to see a different side of us." I just hope they don't sway too much from who they are, but if its a 'party' album, I'm not sure what to think.
Do you think their team panicked cause Golden wasn't selling like previous albums or was it awful sales of Goodbye Town that made them release the Deluxe album? I think their second single choice from new album will be very important. And with all the changes making in sound, I can't help but wonder what they'll do if this album doesn't sell better than Golden.

The video does make the song better, only because I've loved Tony Hale ever since I discovered Arrested Development. Imagining a Buster as a bartender serving Kate Upton is hilarious to me.

I love the video just because I love Tony Hale. He's absolutely hilarious in Arrested Development and Veep.
Anyway, do you guys think think they're going to attempt to crossover to Pop and Hot AC like they did "Need You Know" and "Just A Kiss"? This song definitely has pop elements, and they're a somewhat-established act on other formats.

@windmillsmusic: Congrats @caitlynsmith, @carybarlowe, & @gordie_Sampson on the title track of the upcoming Lady Antebellum album, "747"!
They taped a CMA FrontandCenter special to air this fall, and sang some songs off new album. Other songs "Lie with Me" and "One Great Mystery".
So far that makes Bartender, Long Stretch Of Love (sang a sample at FanFairX CMA wk), Freestyle(sang in past few shows), Lie To Me, 747 and One Great Mystery on the new album

I'm guessing they are going to release this Album closer to the end of summer than late fall?

I was finally able to listen to this in full during my trip back home for the summer. My opinion on it hasn't changed much, but I'm still pretty doggone irritated about how quickly they're releasing new albums. I really don't think it's the group's fault, though, and I wouldn't be ashamed to shout it from the rooftops also. ;)

Wanted You More underperformed from the NYN era, and they still finished the era nicely. Then they have one misstep and release a deluxe edition of "Golden," move on from the album in less than a year and get new management and a producer. It all seems a bit excessive, considering they're overhauling everything and completely moving on due to underwhelming sales/airplay. It's not like they have any real threats as far as Country music groups are concerned, and if they couldn't keep up with Luke, Blake, FGL, etc, no one would hold that against them. I like this alright, but it sounds like something from the NTN era, and they've said several times they were trying to do something different with the last era. The fact that they're resorting back to the more AC sound is kinda disappointing, because I thought Downtown was great. I think they could have done fine waiting awhile to release another album, and it's not like they're likely to be forgotten anytime soon.

I think they could have done fine waiting awhile to release another album, and it's not like they're likely to be forgotten anytime soon. I was reminded today that this will be their fifth album, sixth if you count Christmas one, and they've only had a record deal for seven years. They got new management and new producer and they are trying in every way it seems to make people forget the "Golden" era. At Country Jam last Friday night, Hillary said this is their 'party' album, and talked how when they normally write songs they pull from past experiences but this album is the least autobiographical of any of them. It isn't just the big changes like producer and management, it is little things too like new logo, no longer doing their weekly webisode Wednesdays that they've done since before they ever had a record deal. I feel like they are changing too much too quickly and I'm curious to see how this new album does compared to Golden. Right now Bartender in its first few weeks is matching digital sales with what Downtown did its first few weeks.

They essentially wasted their current CD which is stuffed with potential killer singles in order to do a reissue by rushing 'Compass' out for no remotely intelligent reason instead; they could have very easily had four smash singles from 'Golden', and release a new CD sometime in early 2015.

I'm still beyond pissed that neither "All for Love" nor "It Ain't Pretty" saw the light of day at radio.

Not sure why such a late release. Hopefully their second single contains Bartender's momentum up through the release of the album.

This song has been on fire on my local stations lately. Every single car ride I take (literally), it comes on at some point.
Also, I love the album cover. They've yet to have a bad one, and Hillary looks great post-baby. I really hope they manage to get to a higher level than they're currently at once more because Golden was their best effort since their debut.

"Bartender" is turning out to be a pretty big hit for Lady A so far. It sits at #11 on MB and #9 on Billboard after 10 weeks with an audience of 30.4 million. In comparison, "Compass" was at #17 and a total audience of 19.2 million at the 10 week mark (and that ended up going #1 for them). It's been consistently among the best selling songs on iTunes as well and currently sits in the top 5 on the iTunes chart.
I still believe there was an overreaction to "Goodbye Town" not making it to the top 10 and that the Golden era could've been handled better but so far this new album era is off on the right foot. The only question is can they follow "Bartender's" success up and avoid a similar situation they has with Golden. The fact I haven't heard the album yet or seen a second single perform at radio--I'll remain optimistic about Lady A getting back on track.

This song is on fire right now. Up to #5 on Billboard already after 12 weeks, and is going to beat Tim McGraw and Brad Paisley to peak at #1 first. It gained over 5 million in audience last week alone. A lot has been made about Kenny Chesney's comeback, and I know Lady A had another #1 earlier this year, but with the sales so high for this song it's really hard for me to not think of this song as a comeback of sorts. I think this is a really good song from them that stands out from the rest of their catalog. Have to say that it's look like they made a good decision to get some new music out, although a better judgement will come after we see the first week sales for their new album.

I'm surprised at how fast it's moving, too. When I saw that it was #5 in the highlights, I was pretty surprised, and was wondering if Joe Nichols somehow lost a lot more AI on Billboard than on Mediabase. Good for them, and it's a decent song, but I wasn't expecting "Bartender" to take off like this. It does look like they will be #1 after Dierks Bentley, and possibly for multiple weeks.

Well, heck just having a non bro-country tune skyrocket to #5 in a dozen weeks @ Billboard is wonderful, but then this superb song runs circles around the overwhelming percentage of such tunes out there.

Although I'd say this is the best song they've released in awhile, I wouldn't call it 'superb.' Lady A's talent has almost always surpassed their materiel by leaps and bounds to me.
