I'm not a big fan of Miranda's music. After listening through these tracks, I'm not likely to change my opinion on her music as a whole but "Another Sunday In the South" is quite possibly the best song I've heard in many years. I totally connect with it and have finally found a Miranda song that I love.

On first listen, I like this SIGNIFICANTLY more than I liked Four the Record.. Good. Will obviously need to spend more time with each song, but that was my immediate impression.

I'm very impressed so far. "Little Red Wagon" is absolutely fantastic (I also love Audra Mae's version). It's so sassy, but in a new, fresh way. I was surprised by "Bathroom Sink" - based on the early comments about its subject matter I was completely expecting a slow, sentimental ballad. I love that instead it shows quite a bit of attitude. "Girls" is fantastic and "Smokin' and Drinkin'" sounds very 90s to me, which is great because I love 90s music (of practically all genres). Overall, aside from "Old Shit" the album definitely sounds much more mainstream than any of Miranda's previous records. I'm actually really excited to see where this album could take Miranda. I'm even more excited for June 3rd now - my expectations are now high for the rest of the album. |

So glad that they decided to stream some of the tracks early! I was going to buy it anyways, and listening to the preview only assured me that it's going to be a great album.
My absolute favorite song is "Another Sunday in the South", love the melody and the references to older country songs, and its done in a way that doesn't come off as cliche or name dropping, which I love. "Bathroom Sink" is so relatable and I love the sassiness of it, "Babies Makin Babies" is so true to life, plus the lyric "The American Dream on a shoestring" is sung so pretty! "Little Red Wagon" struck me as so different, but I've actually come to really like the attitude and the tone of it.
I'm not so sure about "Smokin' and Drinkin'", even though I adore Little Big Town, it doesn't come across as terribly country sounding and I don't like the distortion or whatever it was that was done to Miranda's voice.
The other songs are pretty good, I didn't think they were amazing, but pleasant and still easily better than the bro-country dominating the airwaves... I really cannot wait for next Tuesday!!

Hey guys just wanted to let you know that i found a copy of the album and the other songs are even better than the ones on the preview
Priscilla is a really fun song. I find it pretty similar to bagagge claim in terms of instrumenstation
And "hard staying sober" is my favorite one on the album
Platinum the song will be one that'll either be love it or hate it, it's nothing you'd expect from miranda
All that's left, is the countriest song miranda has ever recorded in my opinion, gravity is a bitch goes in the same category. Real country
Two rings shy is weird but good lol
All in all is great album. Not sure if it's better than miranda's previous efforts but it surely is different

I really like "Just Another Sunday In The South" and " Girls"
LOVE the chorus of "Little Red Wagon," but I think it'll be a grower overall.
Miranda sounds really pretty on "Holding On To You," but man, what a snoozer LOL.
"Babies Makin' Babies" is cute, but this is going to be another grower for me.

I really like this, but I'm not sure how I feel about the Pop-leaning Miranda, which she's offered with this & SB. Of what I've heard so far "Another Sunday In The South" is far away the best song on the album; I'm crossing my fingers there are a few more tunes like that. |

Pretty consistently good album, but still a bit disappointing as I was hoping for an album full of "Automatic"'s but nothing touches that even slightly. About in line with Four the Record which I love, but without the duds like "Easy Living"/"Better in the Long Run".
Love Love Love: Babies Makin Babies. Incredibly catchy and must be a radio single. Hopefully comes 3rd. "Bathroom Sink" and "Gravity Is a B****" are my other two favourites, but I don't see those hitting radio.
I think "Smokin' and Drinkin'" would make a great single too. The voice alteration is a bit annoying but also a bit enjoyable once you get used to it. "Platinum" and "Little Red Wagon" are also very enjoyable. The former could make a single as well though BMB and SaD are the two I truly care about as singles.
I too am upset that she absolutely wrecked (in a bad way) Brandy Clark's co-write. That was surprisingly mediocre. "Holding on to You" could've been interesting but the production was just ultra-boring. "Girls" and "Priscilla" were surprisingly so-so. The first is actually a good tune which could make it single-worthy, but perhaps it just doesn't appeal to me as a male. I don't know. I also don't get the love for "Another Sunday in the South". The first time I heard it, there just seemed to be so much repetition of random song titles, I kept thinking "how is this not over yet". Interesting tribute, but a far cry from the top tracks.
As for the songs between, "Somethin' Bad" has grown on me a bit since the performance and I think I can live with it as the "woah"s are catchy. "All That's Left" is interesting because of the traditional production, but lyrically a bit boring and the hook is among the worst on the album. "Old S***" was compared to "Same Old You" from the previous record, but I don't see it. It just seems like a pointless song where she is casually testing edginess, but I do like it. "Hard Staying Sober" was another bit of a disappointment, but certainly a bearable song. I could see myself tiring of it quite quickly though.

Priscilla, Babies Making Babies, Little Red Wagon, and Just Another Sunday In The South were all really good songs that I hope will be considered for singles at some point. Wasn't as radio friendly as I was expecting the album to be, but I'm actually kind of glad about that. I hope we can see some unique songs on the radio soon.

Been listening to this all day! I love it, but I was not expecting songs like "Little Red Wagon" and "Platinum" (and ironically, they have turned out to be some of my favorite tracks)! "Revolution" is my favorite album to date, as well as the first Pistol Annies record, probably because they are so undeniably country. "Platinum" is good and definitely shows growth though.
My rankings-
Love: Automatic (The melody), Babies Makin' Babies (melody, phrasing), Another Sunday In The South (sweet, so country, plays homage to older songs), Bathroom Sink (Relatable, Vulnerable, Full of Attitude), Little Red Wagon (So Fun) & Platinum (I'm a girl and LOVE the attitude of it)
Like: Girls (good message but not amazing or as fun as Platinum), Old Shit (like the message and the attitude), All That's Left (the western swing is cool), Gravity's A Bitch, Hard Staying Sober, Two Rings Shy
Meh: Priscilla (I don't care for the chorus), Something Bad (as much as I wanted to love it, I cannot get on board with how loud & rock it is), Holding on to you (is there a Brandy Clark sung version out there? Everyone is commenting on how Miranda ruined it, just curious if there is another version or if maybe its just a boring song?
Dislike: Smokin and Drinkin (hate the vocal distortion, I would like it if it wasn't there)
As for singles, really hoping for Another Sunday in the South, Bathroom Sink, and if we go five in, Babies Makin' Babies!

Great, great album. I don't even know where to begin and I need to play this more to let it sink in and be able to discern my favorites from the rest, but I am enjoying this Miranda Lambert as I have with all her others. Her albums have all managed to be different enough from one another, but all of them are so cohesive and stay true to who she is as an artist.
Some early thoughts: "All That's Left" sounds like a straight up George Strait song. I could easily see that one on an album of his. "Somethin' Bad" sounds better to me in the context of the album and I'm warming up to it, despite feeling as if it's a bit incomplete as a song.

This album is a massive step forward in Miranda Lambert's artistry. It definitely isn't nearly as radio-friendly of an album as her previous 4 (and I'm sure that's why they released "Automatic" and "Somethin' Bad" as the first 2 singles). Definitely an A+ album for me, and I look forward to seeing how well this performs on the charts and in sales. I really think this could be her very first Billboard 200 #1 album. I can't find a single fault in this record. The writing on this album is absolutely phenomenal. I know she's had one hell of a long reign at awards shows, but if it continues this go around (which I'm sure it will), I won't be mad. This album's production is beyond stellar and it's so different from anything she, or anyone else, has put out in years, both melodically and lyrically. •"Girls" and "Platinum" are so tongue-in-cheek and the writing on both of them is absolutely brilliant. "What doesn't kill you makes you blonder" -- I legit lol'd the first time I heard that line. •"Little Red Wagon" is one of the best songs she's ever recorded. •"Smokin' and Drinkin'" is melodically gorgeous. I love the distortion in the chorus. •"Priscilla" and "Automatic" are such indicators of how progressive this album is for her personally. By this point in the album, it's also clear as to why "Automatic" was the chosen lead single. --Quick note amidst the listen: the range of topics that the songs on this album cover is so broad and fantastic. •"Bathroom Sink"'s instrumentation is phenomenal and "Old s**t" is absolutely genius in every way, from the folksy production to the absolutely perfect lyrics. The static sound at the end of "Old s**t" is a perfect segue into "All That's Left," which is about as Country as it can get by just about any mainstream artist (and/or traditional artist, too, for that matter) today. LOVE THIS SONG.•"Gravity is a B****" is hysterical. I'm seriously so, so giddy with how amazing this album is! Bless Miranda Lambert for being the saving grace of this current state of mainstream Country music. •"Babies Makin' Babies" is the best story song on the album, in my opinion. Her vocals are fantastic on this song, too. •I'd like to say that "Somethin' Bad" is the weak spot of the album, but that'd be a lie because it still isn't even bad by any means. The only reason I'm disappointed in it is because of the lyrics. Looking at the writers of the song, though (Chris DeStefano, I see you), I understand why. It adds a much-needed rock element to the album by this point, though, so I have no problems here. Love it. •"Holding On to You" is absolutely beautiful. It's definitely the deep spot of the album. We don't get to see this side of Miranda as much as we get to on this album -- in this song, especially. •"Two Rings Shy" is one of the best "screw off" songs I've heard. Definitely a feminist power song and I appreciate it a lot for its snark. •"Hard Staying Sober" and "Another Sunday in the South" are a couple of the best songs on the album because of how authentic and honest they are. I have absolutely no doubt in my mind that this will do some major damage at the Grammys this year. It currently has an absolutely incredible 84 on Metacritic based on its first 6 reviews. This album is incredible. ETA:  That awkward moment when they screw up the numbering of the track listing on the back of the album. Picture -- look closely. Just checked my copy and it's the same way. How the hell did nobody catch that? |

I got the album and have been listening all day. I really enjoyed the album, the song writing is great, the melody is different, and I dig Miranda's phrasing a lot. It's hard to choose a favorite but I think I'm loving Babies Makin Babies, Little Red Wagon and Another Sunday in the South more than the other songs right now. The collection of songs in this album is BEAUTIFUL.

170-180k sales estimate from hitsdailydouble, which would be her best debut yet. Easily #1 on both country and billboard 200.
Really love the catalog that Miranda is building. I echo what most everyone else says. She continues to show growth. There aren't a ton of obvious radio friendly tracks on here (which is ok with me... Would hate for her to cater to radio too much, Carrie duet not withstanding).

Yesterday HITS posted that her album would probably debut in the 130-150k range but today they upped it to 170-180k and Billboard seems to think it could trend even higher; 200k might be in reach, although I'm thinking 180-190k will be tops. |

I absolutely love this album. It's yet another reason why Miranda is my favourite artist that country radio will play at the moment.
I love how raw the album sounds. It's hard for me to say right now if I like this better than her last couple of albums, which I consider some of the best albums released in the last few years.
Initially, my favourite tracks are "Little Red Wagon", "Smokin' & Drinkin'", "Priscilla", "Automatic", "Bathroom Sink", "Old Shit", Gravity Is A Bitch", "Hard Staying Sober" and "Another Sunday In The South" (haha I just noticed that's like half of the album, but that's really how strong it is.
I'm so glad to see the sales prediction...she deserves an overall #1 album, and this is a perfect one to get it for. Well worth the wait from Four The Record to get an album this good.

I had heard Audra Mae's version of "Little Red Wagon" prior to this, and I'm stunned it was an Audra Mae original (figured it was a blues-country standard I just didn't know). We give Kacey Musgraves credit for her throwback approach to country songs, but she evidently has nothing on Audra...
Miranda does a great job with it, too.
