I'm super nervous what this could mean. Sure it could be something as simple as a new album or a tour , but I suspect its something much bigger. I hope he isnt planning on following George Strait into retirement. Thoughts?
EDITED: Because I was mistaken, the press release is NEXT Thursday 6/5/2014

In this article SB specifically mentions Alan Jackson so that's what I'm hoping it is. Although I share others concerns that only "his" artists would get airplay... www.nekst.biz/behind-the-curtain/Helm: And just recently you completed a radio partnership with Cumulus. How does that work? Borchetta: Big Machine Label Group entered into a joint venture record company with Cumulus called NASH Icon. The new brand will replace many of their classic country stations, plus extend to syndicated shows, secondary station markets, touring and print. I met with John and Lew Dickey back in February and they said we’ve got these Nash assets and we keep coming back to you as a way to add something if you have the right idea. So we found an open lane, a way for artists like Reba McEntire, Martina McBride, Alan Jackson and others to make new music and get it on the radio and tour. We’re going to feature their new music next to the classic songs. So if those are your favorite artists—news flash—they didn’t die! The business just didn’t take care of them. Artists I talk to about this are thrilled to get their music back on the radio and we hope the fans will engage the same way. We have a saying at the label, you are either young or young at heart! This may be wishful thinking on my part, but I so want this NASH Icon to work. Every time I see a post about some song not charting (or charting very high) I hope that it gets released here and is successful.

While a press conference involving Borchetta did cross my mind , as somebody in another thread noted Alan is still tied to EMI , so I dont know he could partner with Nash Icons even if he wanted to. But I would be thrilled if this were something along those lines.

I'd love to see Alan to sign Alan Jackson would have to get out of his EMI contract first. Second, would Nash Icons let him partner up with his Alan's Country Records?

Alan's Presser is being handled by UMG Nashville, I doubt it's a deal like that. I suspect given that it's at the Hall of Fame, he'll have some new hall of fame wing stuff there AND they'll announce another "Covers" album. That's my guess. I'll find out thursday.

While , I hope you're right, And you certainly would have more insight then me , I'd say the announcement at the HOF doesn't necessarily guarantee HOF related news . Strait made his retirement announcement from there . I'd love another covers album though.

I'd like to hear another cover album as well. Maybe he'll cover newer songs and make them sound more like classic country.

Oh I hope Alan doesn't retire. But given the climate of the industry I wouldn't be surprised. It doesn't seem like the traditional acts want to tour til they die like George Jones, Eddy Arnold, and Ray Price did.

Is the press conference 9AM eastern time tomorrow? Or central time?

My guess is an announcement of his last tour and/or retirement.

I won tickets last night to a show he did in a small honky tonk on Broadway in Nashville. He had Lee Ann Womack, Easton Corbin, & Kacey Musgraves join him on stage. It was a private show, only a few people were allowed in. It was a great show and Alan seemed to really enjoy the guest artist singing with him.
