TODAY performanceHOT! Instantly catchy in melody and hook; if the production comes correct on the studio version then it'll be a strong track for sure. While it reminds me of both "Get Lucky" and Janet's "All For You," it's trademark Mariah without a doubt. Wale kills it as well.

If this really is the single, it's probably my third favorite single of her's since 2000 (behind only "We Belong Together" and "#Beautiful"). I love it. Perfect way for Mariah to blend together the best of everything she's done thus far in her career and make it sound very age appropriate and right for this stage of her career. The belting at the end reminded me of the days of the Price sisters and Melonie Daniels backing her. This got me really excited for the album again.

I. LOVE. THIS!!!!!!!!! It needs to be the single!!!! Easily the best song to surface from this project so far! It's that classic 90s Mariah sound with a modern spin. This is the type of music she should be making; not this paint-by-numbers generic radio shit. This is fun. It isn't dated. It is appropriate for a woman her age, and at the stage of her career. The vocals sound great. I can even put up with Wale being on this, and I don't like him AT ALL. SLAY, Chanteuse!!!

I like it but it's my least favorite out of everything I've heard thus far; I'm team Thirsty.

Goodness. I felt like I was listening to her early material, except for Wale's part. I don't understand why she didn't go with this song instead of "Thirsty".

I'm team whatever at this point because she is bringing the music. Rodney shouldn't have even applied at this point.

The only thing that I really don't get about this song is Wale's feature. It doesn't really do anything for the song, and actually interrupts the flow of the song in a way I don't like. The only thing I can think is if they actually saw the single potential and added him as a potential insurance Urban would play this.

This song is really nice! The hook has to grow on me, I don't find it particularly memorable, but I still like it. Can't wait to hear the studio version.

This is my favorite out of everything we've received in the last few months. This is groovy and a wonderful throwback. I think it's going to be a multi-format HIT if Mariah and her team handles it right.

Just took a listen again to the Today performance. The studio version can potentially be BEAST.
Can't wait.

Now this and "Beautiful" are GREAT songs. This track is instant and the hook is good. It is all things that I love about Mariah.

Thanks, honey bey. This is one of the better songs from her current era. '#Beautiful' is still her best effort this such project.

I like the studio version more, I'd rank it on par with #Beautiful (I still prefer the other 3 "singles" though).

This is great. It's Emotions meets now and definitely gets stuck in the head. That intro needs to be whittled down for a radio edit though; the 0:56 mark is when the fun really starts.

What I love about this song so much that her vocals ride the production unlike "Thirsty" where a great melody is overwhelmed by the production. Others are complaining about Wale talking during her intro but I think without his talking, it will make it cheese (a bit dated). Yes, I understand what she is doing with the intro as it was a past thing of other songs back in the day but I like to think he is cheering her on at the beginning. She should leave the "Thirsty" songs to girls who haven't sold 200 million records; she is better than that. This song proves that when she is on, she is on. Wale's inclusion is perfect also.

This is a jam but it would be better if there were less Wale and more Mariah.

I agree. Although her vocals in the intro are amazing, today's generation would be like, "wtf?" if Wale wasn't included. I think he compliments the song perfectly as well. Did I mention I'm completely floored that this was produced by JD? Def his best production since DFAU in IMO.

Mariah Carey Boards the Disco Revival Train With “You Don’t Know What to Do”On the Today Show late last week, Mariah Carey premiered “You Don’t Know What to Do,” a breezy duet with Wale. The studio version has hit the Web today, and it’s by far the best new song to come from her forthcoming album, Me … I Am Mariah. The Elusive Chanteuse, which has been plagued with delays for more than a year. The single is a lush, appealing dance track that rides the wave of the disco revival that has lately been led by Daft Punk, Justin Timberlake, a posthumous MJ, and others. And while Wale’s rap verses don’t add much to the track (he does throw in a nod to one of the singer’s earlier, and and far more charismatic, collaborators, the late O.D.B.), Carey’s vocals, great production, and a catchy chorus make it perfect for the summer season. After a string of failed lead single releases, Carey may have finally found a track that could return her to the top of the Billboard charts. www.slate.com/blogs/browbeat/2014/05/19/mariah_carey_wale_new_song_you_don_t_know_what_to_do_audio.html
