I can't believe "Marry the Night" did better than this, peaking at #14 on Pop

Marry the Night would be a true definition of a flop tho. It didn't hit the Top 10 of CHR, it's not platinum, and it's not Vevo certified. It's almost what...3 years old and only has 59M views? Even Birthday's lyric video has more. TIHWD is the bigger hit, even internationally.
As for what's next, it's still the same old same old Katy vs. the label nonsense. I wish they were on the same page.

Videos get more views now though don't they?
I'd say both will probably go down as forgotten singles either way.

Is "This Is How We Do" platinum even (and I don't mean no bs certification, but actual sold copies)? Lol
This whole video views determining hit status is ludicrous. Reacchhiinngg.

Videos get more views now though don't they? I'd say both will probably go down as forgotten singles either way. I don't know about more views necessarily, but I do think that it is hard or misleading to compare normal videos to very long videos. It isn't like everyone stopped caring about Katy Perry for a few months and that is why the official Birthday video only has 40 million views right now (which is like...nothing for her). People see a video that goes on for longer than 5 minutes and immediately nope out of there except under exceptional circumstances (like, Telephone which was long, but had Gaga at her peak and Beyonce in it-I bet if it had been a shorter video its views would have been at least 100 million more). Marry the Night was like...seriously a 15 minute video and you just can't compare that to 2-4 minute regular video views. For that reason, I don't think the views for the official Birthday video or Marry the Night are all that low or should be evidence of "flopdom" and if both had been cut down to a reasonable length both would have had 100 million+ views like normal for these artists. I am also interested in how Birthday, Unconditionally, and TIHWD sold for this album-do we have updated numbers?

Had it just had nothing but video views under its belt it would NOT have been considered the hit it is. People clearly loved the song itself outside the video. Your point is moot (at best).

Oh yeah. I totally forgot that Marry The Night was 15 minutes. Yeah, not an even comparison at all. The thing This Is How We Do has going for it is that it might have more longevity. How many weeks has it been on now?

Katy's wild segment on ESPN Gameday is all over news and suddenly TIHWD has started to surge on iTunes (up to 30). Get that promo Katy!

There's no way we're going to get a 6th single you guys are either delusional or practicing wishful thinking. Why isn't there a way? Two underperfomers in a row is pretty much always a guarantee the era ends. Even with KP. Watch let's make a bet XD

Sigh. I loved "Unconditionally". Far and away my favorite from Prism and one of my favorite songs of 2013. I still can't at how it performed. Ah well. It will always be a multi-week #1 in muh mind.

This remains my least favorite of this album's singles. I'd rank em like this:
Dark Horse Roar Unconditionally Birthday This is How We Do

TIHWD still has a Bullet and is in the 20's on the BB Hot 100. Katy has had airplay continuously through the Prism era. Go Girl!

Two underperfomers in a row is pretty much always a guarantee the era ends. Even with KP. Watch let's make a bet XD It all comes down to album sales, though, and "Birthday" and "This Is How We Do" have kept PRISM afloat pretty well. I definitely would not be surprised to see a sixth and final single, likely "Legendary Lovers" or "Walking on Air." Edit: Though, I also wouldn't be surprised to see the era end here.

If they release a 6th single it'd definitely be Walking on Air, it's better suited for radio than Legendary Lovers.

In fact a lot of people loved the song in spite of the video wich was way controversial (but i think it was a good controversy, not only because it worked but because it had meaning). The song sounded like a big big hit just out of the gate

I figured "This Is How We Don't" would fail on radio but I didn't think it'd be this quick/bad. Selfishly, I'd love a release for WOA because I think it would sound so good with the current music climate but who knows what her people are thinking at this point.

Her tour isn't over in another 8 months I think, going to see her in February myself. They might very well release 6th single. I have no idea which it could be (LL is my personal favourite)

There's no way they'll end the era here. Not when her tour is still going strong for quite a while. If they did, it would be AT LEAST a year without Katy Perry on the radio, and that's assuming they rush-release her next album.

Wasn't it? This song hasn't even been on the Top 40 for 10 weeks. Its headed towards a purge. Its nothing to write home about anyway.

It's a little strange to be knowing all these "quick facts" about this song. A purge? lol wow. I don't even know what that is and I'm glad I don't know.

Yeah, no, I mean I totally get it. I don't want to sit here and get into the 'for Katy standards' discussion because its been beaten to death. And yet it is a thing. It only peaked where it did because of her name. I honestly think I've heard this song a total of 20 times ever locally - out of 3 CHR stations that could be playing it. I don't think I'm stretching the imagination in using the terminology I've used.
