Not a Bad Thing falls 26-34, so yeah, it's a pretty hard fall. I wonder if this is like the push around May where a bunch of the songs from the beginning of the year started to tumble down the charts at an accelerated rate (Burn, Show Me, Animals, and Bottoms Up were all examples back then) Ok that's not TOO bad, I was expecting that it went down to like #40...and with the exit of Timber, Counting Stars follows in the shadow of Apologize in outlasting the songs that blocked it from #1...OneRepublic definitely has the longevity factor (CS will spend 65-70 weeks on the chart) in their songs, but if only they could get them to have that high enough peak to top the chart :( Well, they are about to have 2 No.2 peaking songs in the All-Time Hot 100 so I guess it's better than a No.1 :)

There are almost a thousand No.1s out there that wished they were as successful as "Apologize" and "Counting Stars" .
Wait, Is "No One" higher than "Apologize" in the All-Time charts?

Wait, Is "No One" higher than "Apologize" in the All-Time charts? Good question, No One is #3 year-end of 2008 and #76 year-end of 2007 while Apologize is #5 year-end 2008 and #66 year-end 2007...my guess would be Apologize is slightly higher but I could be wrong...they are very close for sure!

Wow, so strange how they are so far apart when Apologize was higher on 2007 year-end than No One and vice-versa on 2008 year-end and when they were so close to each other...maybe #3 had a huge lead over #5 in 2008

I guess it's more on the method used. Same thing happened in 2009 Year-End, BBP is ahead of IGF but in the Decades Chart IGF is No.5 while BBP is No.7 when they actually covered the same time periods.

I agree, felipe- but, the charts aren't determined by a body of people voting for what they regard as "the best," unlike the Oscars and other things that are meant to rank what people view as the best. Or something that's based on skill (sports). You see the difference? :) I do understand your point, though.

Actually, felipe, it also is getting old when I see posters say something "deserves" a chart position when the charts have nothing to do with the likes of one particular individual. But, such is life. In any event, moot point, as "Happy" looks to be the best-performing track of the year and probably will take No. 1 on the year-end chart. The year isn't over yet. I hope Katy Perry performs Dark Horse on TV again so it'll get another boost in sales and streaming.

Happy vs Darke Horse: It may not be over but both have peaked. What lies ahead won't matter quite as much as what has already happened.
Decade Charts: Billboard compiles these on a weighting system similar to what is used for all-time charts
Year end charts: This adds up total chart points in a year as we all know.
Decade vs Year End 2009: Different rankings because different systems were used.

Did "Let It Go" made the Top 50 of Airplay? If it didn't ,is it the longest charting song without making the Airplay charts? It's been on charts now for 33 weeks.

You can check the weekly Radio songs thread, I have the last 30 or so in that thread. It may very well be the longest(in recent times). Don't need airplay anymore when you have streaming
From 1968-1973 the top 50 of the Hot 100 was a sales only chart

I recall some late 70s American Top 40 shows with Casey Kasem saying "the best-selling" songs in America. Was it just those years part of the chart was sales-only?
That must have been odd, having 51-100 be a blend and the top 50 being just sales.

It went top ten on AC and top 20 on hot AC, I imagine it had to have made Radio Songs at some point.

^The Mediabase peak was in the low 20m range, wasn't it? Subtract a few million for BDS and that's around 18m-20m. So, it probably reached the 60s range, but we'll never know the exact peak as RS now is only a 50-position chart.

My 2 cents on this
1. It is a bit of a reach to call All That She Wants a Reggae song but fine it may have elements if Reggae, I think there is even a Reggae remix 2. It is also a bit of a stretch to call it a #1 song (it peaked at #2)
Either way it was correctly omitted from the list of Reggae #1's on the Hot 100
Same comments for 'Don't Turn Around' Well, my quote was more about the "signature sound" bit. "The Sign" was a #1 song though. Their sound on that debut album heavily uses a reggae trademark: "One of the most easily recognizable elements is offbeat rhythms; staccato chords played by a guitar or piano (or both) on the offbeats of the measure, often referred to as the skank." (Another wikipedia quote.) And again, on wikipedia, the genre for "The Sign" is listed as "reggae fusion." Sorry I'm not letting this go, this is secretly one of my all time favorite albums (and the first one I ever bought!).
