Lyrically this may be one of weakest (if not the weakest) Taylor song. But I guess that fits with moving in a purely pop direction. There's just nothing "Taylor Swift" about this song.

I'm not the biggest Taylor fan. I don't care too much for her typically, but she usually knows how to make a few good singles. This, however, is terrible. I thought my initial reaction to "We Are Never Getting Back Together" was rough, but this just tops it in that department. It's just so reductive and childish. It is a little catchy. I'll give it that much. But, the lyrics are cringeworthy, which is now a certified trend for pop Taylor.
You just have to ask yourself: Would this be getting a positive reaction if Miley, Demi, Selena, or any other similar young pop artist released it (as a lead single)? I'd have to say "no".

Cute song and video. I think it's a solid top 10 pop hit. If solid top 10 pop hit = multi-week #1, then sure. That's not what I'm hearing, sorry. I felt Trouble was a multi week number one, but I don't feel that way about this yet. |

Fair enough, but with the hype around this, I don't see how it takes more than 2 weeks to go Top 10. Might even get in there this week depending on what sort of deal is in place. |

This does have a "Girlfriend" vibe. I'm sure some of her country fans are having a conniption right now because this is pure pop and there are no country elements in it. Her voice sounds good on this record and it's corny but it's also catchy. I like it.

ok so the first time I heard it I was disappointed, and then I heard the bridge and was like ewww. BUT before the song even finished I was already singing along. Then I heard it again and pretty much feel in love and now I just watched the video and it's iconic and perfect and etc.
