That cheeleading moment gave me Holla Back teas! The cheerleading part gave me Girlfriend teas. Most of the song gives me Girlfriend/Umbrella vibes, but that part especially. Anyway this song is catchy I guess, but I'm kind of loling that she's completely ditching country. Not even hiding it, literally announcing that she's pop now. Bold. That cheeleading moment gave me Holla Back teas! reminded me of mickey Yes! I can't decide if it reminds me of Girlfriend or Mickey. The instrumental sounds more like the Girlfriend instrumental, but if I hear it I start singing Hey Mickey

That's not what I'm hearing, sorry. I felt Trouble was a multi week number one, but I don't feel that way about this yet. Fair enough, but with the hype around this, I don't see how it takes more than 2 weeks to go Top 10. Might even get in there this week depending on what sort of deal is in place. To clarify, I was talking about the Pop radio charts. I think this could do better on the Hot 100 with the initial surge in sales of course.

From Billboard.com Taylor Swift's 'Shake It Off' Set to Take Off on Hot 100Could Taylor Swift's new single "Shake It Off" become her second No. 1 hit on the Billboard Hot 100? The track is already off to a sizzling start and seems headed for the top of the chart. The song could debut on the Hot 100 as early as Wednesday (Aug. 20) based on just its initial airplay. The tune could then rocket up the chart next week, once its sales and streams have kicked in. "Shake It Off" is the first single from Swift's fourth studio album, 1989, which will be released on Oct. 27. If Bang Bang could hit Top 20 in one week, this should easily hit Top 15.

I love this! On the first few listens, I enjoy it much more than her previous two lead singles.

While country music is my music of choice, I must say, I love this. It's a very good pop song and the video is just great.
She really hits a home run here, imo. The horns and brass instruments in the production are just perfection!

I think this sounds more like 'The Best Damn Thing' than 'Girlfriend' or any other Avril song. And she sounds exactly like P!nk on the middle 8.

So today and tomorrow airplay will prob give it a lower-end start on the chart.

I like this, but I kinda miss when she was at least a little bit country. Ours and Story of Us are my favorites from Taylor.

"Cuz the loving ain't the same and you keep on playing games like you know I'm here to stay..."
This is such a bop. I love how she keeps changing it up each album. Get it, Swifty!

10 HAC adds.
Huge for coming out less than an hour before adds were due.

@ the "Girlfriend" comparison. I don't think this will ever surpass WANEGBT, but I'm liking it.

Country stations still gonna play, play, play, play, play, play, play It didn't get any country radio adds today (granted, like josh said, it was only released barely before reports were due). Taylor might get a few adds from country stations next Monday (perhaps from those with more adventurous PD's), but I think it's been made pretty clear (to country radio) that this song is only being serviced to CHR and HAC, and that 1989 is basically a straight-up pop album. So--assuming Big Machine sticks with the plan and doesn't send this to country radio--I don't really see many country stations playing this. Maybe a few will give it curiosity spins, but I doubt there will be that many. It'll definitely be interesting to see whether Taylor still throws country radio a bone or two, or whether she's gonna go strictly pop for this 'era'.

10 HAC adds. Huge for coming out less than an hour before adds were due. I wouldn't be surprised in the slightest if radio PDs got to hear and "add" it early. Still, I'd expect an enormous HAC adds week next week (and obviously Most Added here - 15 so far under 19 for TIHWD).

I'm loving the single and the concept of a totally pop album from Taylor. I feel like the restrictions that country places on her would have held her back from going where she feels like she needs to go - see IKYWT and its backlash from the previous era. I can't wait to hear what she does with her sound. If the first single is any indication, we are in for another monster era.
Mult-week (month?) #1 on pop radio and the Hot 100.

The song itself on first listen is okay. It has the potential to grow on me immensely and then burn out quickly.
I love the video however. It makes the song way more enjoyable, which is what a good video should do.
I do like that she is one of the few mainstream artists left who I'm curious to see where she goes next.

Not a fan of this. It's milquetoast. Still, it'll be huge, and well done her, etc.

I mean, but who taught Taylor how to sing? This is the best she's ever sounded, in my opinion.
This is blowing up on my local Pop, Rhythmic and HAC and I love it!
