We're rehashing Femme Fatale while Britney's making the world a better place. Just another day in the life... www.breatheheavy.com/britney-raises-1-million-for-the-nccf-calls-it-the-proudest-moment-of-her-career/Britney Spears is one of the most influential pop stars in the world, adored by millions and remains one of the best-selling artists ever, but that pales in comparison to her latest accomplishment. The Glory singer has raised more than $1 million in donations from Piece Of Me ticket sales for the Nevada Childhood Cancer Foundation. The money helped construct the NCCF's Britney Spears Campus, a brand-new, 16,000 square-foot facility combining more than 45 pediatric and adult services, People reports. #Philanthropney

I take that with a grain of salt, but it's a bad idea either way.

All the years of building back her mental strength would collapse in a matter of 12 minutes if she were to perform at the Super Bowl.

Disagree. She could do this and do it well. She's not the person she was in 2008 or 2011. She's also not the person she was in 2001, but that's ok. But we go through this every year so my hopes are absolutely zero. The timing couldn't be more perfect though.

She would be dragged if she were to perform the same way she is currently doing right now. The majority of the people watching aren't privy to the life of Britney Spears nor would they know how she is in her current state. When they invision Britney Spears they see one of two things, Britney of yesteryear, or Britney during her infamous breakdown. I'm saying NO as somebody that doesn't want to see her fall down that slope again. Social media is a b!tch and she would get ripped to shreds. Pulse and these other forums are cute safe havens but they are not the consensus of the real world.

I know this venue is that times a million, but I don't think you're right. And regardless, I think she is in such a healthy mental place right now I think she could handle it even if you are. In fact, I would wager that the places she would actually be dragged are the places where the "fans" dwell - here and other forums like it and exhale. With the general public, there is goodwill toward Britney overall.

It was everything I could've wanted and probably one of the few times in the past decade I wasn't disappointed by her or her team.

Britney killed at the BBMAs 2016. If she brought that to the Super Bowl, she'd be great. I think she's emotionally stable enough to handle some criticism, knowing full well it comes with the territory of performing there. Stop acting like she's still in her 2007 state and can't handle it.
And career-wise, she has nothing left to lose. She might as well do it at this point.

I think if she brought it like the BMA's + pre-recorded vocals she'd be fine.

Her performance at the BBMA's gives me hope-- if she cared enough to give us some great new choreography for Toxic (which she sadly/inexplicably never used again) at the BBMAs, I'm convinced she'd work even harder to kill it at the SuperBowl.

A Britney Spears Super Bowl would be entertaining at the very least, but she clearly has anxiety issues and I don't think it's a good idea.
And she would get dragged for lipsyncing. I'm sure people like Madonna and Katy lipped part of their shows but for Britney it's been one of the main criticisms that has followed her for years so you know the press would have a lot of articles dragging her written before the thing even airs.
She does have the hits for it! Toxic, BOMT, Oops, Slave, Circus, Womanizer, Till the World Ends to represent the newer stuff...

Isn't lipping at the SB considered okay though? Lol. Madonna lipped hers, Katy lipped, no backlash. Beyonce's were pre-recorded vocals which is what Britney needs to do should she perform.

This is another career mystery to me. Why create and learn a new routine and then don't add it to the Vegas show?!?!

Pulse and these other forums are cute safe havens but they are not the consensus of the real world. That's not what happened after the BBMA's 2016. But the VMAS 2016 came after which got a mixed to tepid response. Granted, that routine was weak in general. It's an incredibly slippery slope though and there's honestly valid arguments from EITHER side. She's in an extremely good place it seems personally and as far as her confidence and performing skills, they're pretty much peak level now as far as 2008 and onwards...she seems to have her swagger/full confidence back judging by that Asia tour but the Superbowl is the most important, overanalyzed performance in any artist's history and Britney would be under tiresome scrutiny leading up and during the performance, with literally every step she makes. She's been looking good but she'd have to step it up even more for this platform and I know her fans and most of messageboard culture doesn't care about lipsynching (and I agree, it's a moot point), but the GP especially in 2017 does, and she will get blasted on that alone. Even if she finds a way to dance her ass off for 12 mins, that will always be her issue performing on a large scale today. None of us are even that confident in her team to at least give an effort and do pre-recorded vocals so I'm not even going to factor that as a possibility. IMO, she's got the skills to start doing more award shows consistently. The Superbowl is just a whole other realm, and a risky move for her in this phase of her career. She should leave that to the popstars who actually need it to try and solidify their career. She became an icon without it.

I actually think if she really (and I mean *really*) got up there and danced her ass off, most people would be satisfied. People generally love her and her music, so she has that going for her at least.
Though, tbh, does it even really matter? I mean a lot of people (from the conservative right, mostly) hated on Gaga's performance last year -- which, IMO, was the best performance since MJ. So, people are gonna talk crap about her and her performance no matter how incredible it is. The question is whether or not Britney can mentally handle the scrutiny at this point in her life. I mean, of course she doesn't need to do this -- but if she wants to and feels she can handle it, then I say go for it!

Lip syncing wouldn't be the problem, though she's terrible at it and would have to actually prerecord tracks to make it acceptable. I'm a big Britney fan but she just doesn't perform at the level needed to headline a Superbowl performance. Even in her best recent performances, she comes across as stiff, like she's concentrating on the count/every move she makes, and the moves themselves are extremely basic. I think it would be very poorly received, and who wants that?
Now, coming in as a one-song guest with some iconic entrance/ensemble with some distracting visuals and a hot song, I'd be all for.

Nah britney is too fragile for the social media dragging, stay home sis. I love her but it would be a epic mess and you know it. She aint built like Mariah to keep bouncing back after being dragged and keep on going. Britney would take it so to heart i think its inhumane to subject her to it. Keep doing smaller gigs and awards shows once every few years. The SB is too many eyes and too major to lip and shuffle like a robot.

I wish the chorus was a bit stronger, and with less processing and reverb on her "oooh"s, but it definitely is the first track I visit every time I give the album a spin. I love the instrumental.

Jonas Åkerlund shared a photo from the HIAM shoot. I hope she works with him again soon. It seems like they got along great and the HIAM was easily one of the best things to come out of the FF era. It's actually one of my favorite videos she's done.

I just realized I don't think I have seen that video in full. The only video I really remember from FF is Criminal and that was because of Jason.

If Katy Perry could pull off a good Super Bowl performance, Britney would murder it! I actually think she needs an event like this to get it all the way together. Though, I do agree she may be too emotionally fragile to handle any social media dragging. But if she puts in the work I'm sure the only dragging she will get is for her "prerecorded" vocals. Britney definitely has the hits. It would be a shame if she never got to do this.
