It also appears that the court audio is now fair game - they used it in the Time 100 ABC special last night.

It's allegedly been in production since the NYT one was announced, so for a while now, but it was always going to come after NYT propelled #FreeBritney into the mainstream. I think that's where my frustration lies. While the NYT doc was very surface level, they took care in reporting what was mostly factual and not unfounded rumors, and said they'd go further if Britney wanted (and later she made it clear that she didn't); so for this so come out now, in September, feels a opportunistic more than anything. These aren't cheap to produce so I get it, but I would at least be courteous enough to get Britney's input on it. You're giving this NYT documentary too much credit lol I'm excited this is in the hands of Netflix; hopefully they were able to nab people with significant contribution to this story. I’m not, people just saw the Free Britney podcasters as wack jobs and then lol they ended up being right so

In regards to Britney's feelings about documentaries being made about her, it should be noted that, first, as far as we know, Britney hasn't seen Framing Britney Spears. She's only mentioned that she's seen clips. Second, her main issue with the documentary seems to be due to the focus on what led to the conservatorship (the media scrutiny, the breakdown, etc.). The documentary sort of quickly went over her current situation towards the end, which makes sense given that it was already being put together before the Free Britney movement started to become mainstream. They had a different focus and only started to pivot once the Free Britney movement started to really pick up.
The Netflix documentary was greenlit after the fact, so it's hopefully going to focus more on the conservatorship itself. Britney has made it clear that she wants the details of her case be open to the public instead of being sealed away. So if the Netflix documentary focuses on that, Britney will hopefully be okay with it. The fact that they used that leaked voicemail from 2009 is perhaps a good sign of the direction they'll be taking since, allegedly, Britney had a hand in it leaking it and was disappointed that it got very little mainstream traction when it first leaked.

Also, who even knows - maybe the Netflix doc people somehow got ahold of her and got her blessing for this.
Plus, isn't the only commentary on the NYT doc from her IG where she said it made her "cry"? Honestly with all the BS going on with her IG, who even knows if it was her.

My only hope for the Netflix doc is that it exposes L*u T*ylor for the human cancer she is.

This one seems more focused on her c-ship battle and less about her past personal troubles. I think she’ll be okay with this?.

Anyway, Britney herself has filed for the termination of the conservatorship.

Good to know 2007 taught us nothing and as long as you dress up trauma porn to look like “genuine” concern, it’s totally ok to profit off of other people’s personal struggles.
I’m fine with Lou Taylor getting exposed, but you don’t have to make a doc about Britney to do that. You can make a doc about corruption in conservatorships, but you don’t need Britney as the centerpiece or poster child to sell it. Anyone who doesn’t think these are cash grabs at this point is choosing ignorance. Sorry. She’s explicitly asked they not be made, yet here we are.
This was a discussion I had in private so I don’t want to type all of this out again, but the perverse result of the #FreeBritney movement is the unintended reemphasis on her mental health (not the broader scope of the issue with conservatees) and a “Great American Tragedy” instead of the things she herself wanted to emphasize about her life and work in court: she wasn’t good, she was great. She was a star, THE star of her time. She is the single most influential performer alive today and up there (and opposite) Mariah Carey who shaped a generation of vocalists. Quote me, @ me, argue with me till you’re blue in the face but that’s final and I’ll hear nothing to the contrary because it is correct; but all of that is getting lost in conversations and hyperbole about her situation which she has been as open about as she needed to be and has said repeatedly looks better and better. She’s in a good place, so why then do we need the media to pull focus back to what she’s overcoming exactly? Speaking more broadly, it underscores the incredibly shallow relationship Americans have with mental health. We have a better understanding of it today than we did in 2007 but entertainment value still supersedes empathy when it comes to public support. I’m trying very hard not to be cynical but with the mounting evidence that she absolutely is not ok with these docs, seeing people bend over backwards to defend them just makes me wonder why people are invested in this in the first place.
Personally I think she knows what’s best for herself and we should respect that. As I understood it, that was kind of the whole point of all of this.

I would love if when she gets close to wrapping this up she goes into the studio and records a song with the theme of being free. Then releases it to radio and streaming the day it’s official.

After watching the "Controlling Britney Spears" documentary, I admire Britney even more for her bravery and strength. I hope that Britney and Felicia will reunite in some way in the future.

This was such a heartbreaking watch and even more important than Framing imo. This really hit at the abuse that she has suffered all of these years and put everything into context, especially every single performance, interview, meet and greet, etc. It's all understandable now why she's been the she has for the last 13 years. Hell, she was way better in most of those scenarios than I think most of us would've been.
I pray to god that Rosengart looks into all of this stuff or even some type of independent investigation, because as a fan of course this is all shocking and stunning, but just as a human being, this is a total empire of unethical and illegal behavior that, not even being hyperbolic, should be landing all of these people in jail or some type of serious consequence.
And fuck Goetz for not having to stand by her actions. Just because that bitch is retired does not mean she shouldn't be liable for what she did. Its all so gross and disgusting how every single person involved, from her personal, security, and legal team (and the judge + courts clearly) were all in cahoots about this. This entire thing needs to be exposed as much as possible, so this is exactly why I'm perfectly fine with all of these docs coming out. And I'd hope Britney would see it that way too. Lastly, yeah, I'm very curious about what was supposed to be deleted and he kept it. I figured of course he wouldn't share the actual audio but was hoping they would've asked him like what it was pertaining, or who it was incriminating about. Like what could've been caught in Britney's room from her or whoever that would be incriminating against them that hasn't already been said by Britney in court? (open or not).. I'm truly curious about that one

I know that some fans that are passionately protective of Britney and see the new/upcoming lineup of documentaries/specials debuting right before the big court date as exploitative. I initially had mixed feelings about these upcoming specials too. Generally, I appreciate the attention and pressure they provide but the sudden announcements of three specials in quick succession definitely made me side-eye things. Ultimately, I made the choice to watch the NYT and Netflix documentaries (still not sure about CNN's) for a multitude of reasons. The main reason being the people who are the main driving force of these documentaries, which are not the people putting together the documentary, but the people that have come forward to give inside information. These people are breaking NDAs and risking their careers because they wanted to further legitimize Britney's powerful testimony on June 23rd. I do not want to argue with those who understandably see it as exploitative and have already made up their minds. You have every right to feel that way, but to those who are on the fence, I do recommend watching because at the heart of these documentaries are people are risking their livelihoods and possibly more by coming out in support of Britney. They are doing what they feel is right despite knowing full well the type of actions that may be taken against them by Team Con. I want to support their bravery by watching and discussing these documentaries so that they see that speaking their truth was the right thing to do. Hopefully, this also encourages others who might know relevant facts to come forward. As for the NYT documentary itself, it was very well-made and was the kind of documentary that many fans had hoped the first one would be. It does not re-hash Britney's dark times. Instead puts the focus squarely on some of the people responsible for what she's endured and goes into detail of their (possibly illegal) actions. Britney is the main thread connecting all these people but she's there to sort of hook you in while the documentary shines light on certain people, some of whom sort of slipped under the radar. They openly name and talk about Tri Star and Lou Taylor, though rather briefly. The person from Tri Star who does get the spotlight though, is Robin Greenhill. Robin Greenhill was name-dropped by multiple people in the documentary. Lou has become a sort of figurehead of Tri Star and their alleged wrongdoings towards Britney, but Robin was the one there on a more personal level and allegedly did a lot of the dirty work on behalf of Tri Star to try and keep Britney in line. Then there's Edan Yemeni, the head of Britney's security. Again, one of the great things about Controlling Britney Spears was how it shined a light on those that slipped under the radar. One of the people interviewed was a former employee and essentially the right-hand man of Edan. Per the former employee, Edan was relieved when Framing Britney Spears came out and neither he nor Black Box Security were mentioned. Not only was he and his company mentioned this time, but they became one of the focal points of this documentary. The former employee didn't have much contact with Britney but became privy to a lot of the alleged privacy violations done against her and how non-chalant Edan, Jamie, and Robin went about doing so. They even asked him to destroy evidence of surveillance they had of Britney but he luckily was suspicious and saved everything: emails, transcripts, etc., which might be very helpful to Rosengart's ongoing investigation. Black Box Security also allegedly had people undercover at Free Britney rallies to gather intel on fans, so be careful. Another thing I liked about the documentary was how it interpolated Britney's testimony throughout the documentary. They would play a part of it where Britney alleges something, then it would cut to someone's interview where they specifically mention something that corroborates with what Britney said. It really emphasizes that the documentary and the people coming forward in it are there to further legitimize Britney's words. It was Britney's courage to speak her truth that gave these people the courage to speak theirs and allow this documentary to be at the level of quality that it is. Ultimately, I am glad I watched and supported the NYT documentary and will also be watching the Netflix one. Again, I hope those on the fence give it a chance. For those of you who are unable to watch it at this time, there is a new article from the NYT that goes into some of the details that were revealed in the documentary.

Jamie and Robin are the f**kinG DEVIL. OMG how could you do that to somebody??? The judge isn't s**t either. This is not the way the judicial system is supposed to work! It seems like that bitch was getting paid too.

Yeah, the Fe stuff was so sad. I can't (but can) believe they tried to tear the two of them apart. I hope they can reunite once the c-ship is over with.
Also I agree with everything eqbk said. The NYT doc was very well done, and honestly was even better than "Framing" IMO just because it showed the depths of what Britney has endured these past 13 years, and brought to light a lot of stuff that we didn't know.
I also liked how it intertwined Britney's testimony with clips and what was going on at the time. The whole Domination era just becomes more and more damning every time, especially with her clips of rehearsal intertwined with the timeline and what she said about that time - and how her putting her foot down to say no to that residency directly sent her to the mental health facility.

I teared up when her stylist said she gave her a bracelet (or necklace?) with her phone number engraved on it incase she ever needed to call her.
The whole thing is devastating but at least it's nice to see that some of the people in her circle really loved her and tried to help.
In regards to the rest: DEATH TO THEM ALL!

I saw a few tweets recapping some highlights and watched the former security employee detail the bit about the gun. If anything I want to watch this, and the others, less. It just made me feel worse, and helpless, and l didn’t feel this added to the case. Rosengart’s statement that followed only confirmed it: he already knows all of this and they’re going to build a case around it once they’re able.
As much as I’d love to give the people making these the benefit of the doubt, anytime I consider how I would feel were I Britney, having all of my lowest moments broadcast to the world like this, I just feel awful. This might change a few minds in the public, I guess, but at this point it’s not about that, it’s about setting her free. These don’t really do much in the way of doing that.
I commend those who broke NDAs to speak out, though. If the allegations are true, some of them are victims of this as well (which is probably the only real bombshell here—just how many people were negatively affected by this than Britney herself). I still wish everyone had waited until Britney was free and able to give her own input on these, though.

You can tell they made sure to get her out from Brit’s life. So sad. EDIT: the bits about those two women (the ones in the management/accounting company was new to me. Never heard of them until now. One of the things I took away from this particular doc is that there are a lot more people involved in this than just her father. Fucking evil, money hungry people.

Auntie’s talking about Britney. I like their point about this being such controversy because she’s a white woman suffering with mental health, as opposed to say Kanye, who’s clearly shown signs of mental “breakdown” as well.

Britney's case is so much different than Kanye's though. Yes she's a white woman but at the same time Kanye hasn't never been put under a legal arrangement like the c-ship, where Britney has been under this arrangement for 13 years of her life. It's just totally different.
I'm going to disagree with Koochie though and say this doc was definitely needed. IMO, the public needs to know the nitty gritty that so many stans do. Not just because it's Britney but this also just a humanitarian crisis in general. The more the public knows, and the more details they know, is good I think because it just puts more public pressure for something to happen.
Let's be clear - Britney was the biggest catalyst for change this year after she spoke up at court. But the fact that there was so much public pressure building has helped the case immensely. That's part of why nothing happened these 13 years - because even as Britney was speaking up in private, the movement wasn't really a major thing in public for 11-12 years. When it became one, I think that also seemed to give Britney even more fuel to keep pushing to make sure she was heard.

I think this whole thing is actually a great demonstration of the sexism that we live with each day. Why isn’t Kanye under a conservatorship and Britney is? I’m not sure that the things that have been done to her would have ever been done to a male in her position. It’s all so disgusting tbh.
