Are there any albums for which you were super excited because the singles were great, and then you were like "OMG what is this??" when you listened to the rest of the songs?
I have three in particular:
3. Debbie Gibson "Electric Youth": I so loved her debut album, I still play it without skipping a track, but her second album is so bad, I only like its singles and probably a couple of songs: "Over The Wall" and "Silence Speaks (A Thousand Words)". And I think I like those two songs because they were B-tracks and I played them on vinyl when I had them...
2. Pebbles "Pebbles": loved "Girlfriend" and "Mercedes Boy". Thought "Take Your Time" and "Do Me Right" were ok, but the rest was terrible.
1. Tara Kemp "Tara Kemp": such a weird album. Thank God "Piece Of My Heart" was remixed for the single version, or it would have been even worse. I thought she had a lot of potential and she had a great voice. Too bad she recorded such strange record and she went to nowhere after the two hit singles.

Yours Truly.
Not that I thought the album was terrible per se, but it was definitely unremarkable and close to mediocre for me.

Normally, it's the opposite for me, as in the single choices are mediocre but the album itself is flawless.

The Truth About Love by P!nk comes to mind, but only if you don't include the bonus tracks. Album could have been flawless if she did some rearranging.

I'm really select about buying full albums, and luckily most have held up quite well.
The only one that instantly comes to mind is Beyonce, I Am...

I agree with Like A Virgin and The Truth About Love.
I enjoyed the singles off of Talk That Talk far more than the album as a whole.
That's all I can think of for now though. I'm sure more will come to mind.

^ Agreed with you on RiRi's TTT.
Tamar Braxton - Love And War The singles were all killer and among my favorite singles of 2013, but the album, while not horrible, was quite underwhelming.

Too bad she recorded such strange record and she went to nowhere after the two hit singles. You're spot on with these, lol! They're also both similar in the fact that the remixed second singles were superior than the super bland album versions. Thankful, I was able to find the remix single for "Piece of My Heart" on eBay a couple of years ago for like $20. That was my middle school jam! I'll stick with the 90s and add a few to the list - Tracie Spencer Make The Difference - Loved all 5 singles but the rest of the album was lifeless. Hi-Five Hi-Five - same scenario as above Jasmine Guy Jasmine Guy - loved "Another Like My Lover" and "Just Want To Hold You", but NO to the rest, Whitley Gilbert! Keith Sweat Keep It' Comin' - my least favorite of his 90s albums. Only liked the singles and a few other ballads. Rest was horrible. Madonna I'm BreathlessSure I will think of more later. And God, I love you but I have to disagree with you about I'm Your Baby Tonight. Outside of the six singles, "Lover For Life", "Anymore" and "We Didn't Know" all slay. The only tracks I didn't really care for were "After We Make Love" and "I'm Knockin'".

Len- You Can't Stop the Bum Rush (aka, the album that taught me to never, ever buy a CD after having heard just one song on it.)
That's actually the one I can come up with right now. I can think of at least several albums where the opposite is true though.

Len- You Can't Stop the Bum Rush (aka, the album that taught me to never, ever buy a CD after having heard just one song on it.) Lmao I remember my sister bought that CD. I can't remember if she liked anything other than "Steal My Sunshine" or not, but I remember her buying a lot of CDs just for one song and ONLY playing that song. Yet when we would go to the store she would always have to get the album rather than the single (unless the album hadn't been released). I never had any desire to listen to the album based off of "Steal My Sunshine," even though I liked the song. Something about that band (including the album title) was so off-putting for me.

Though I didn't love "Good Girl", I thought the album was remarkably unremarkable, save "Wine After Whiskey" and "Good In Goodbye".

Miley Cyrus' Bangerz is the first to come to mind. Others I can think of right now (though there's definitely more): Carrie Underwood's Some Hearts ("Wasted" and "BHC" being the only songs I enjoyed), Kelly Clarkson's Thankful, Pink's Missundazstood, Fantasia's Free Yourself ("Truth Is" is the only original that I liked), Katy Perry's Prism, several Rihanna albums, Mariah Carey's Charmbracelet, Mariah Carey's Butterfly (except for "Whenever You Call"), Carly Rae Jepsen's Kiss, Phillip Phillips' first album.

One Republic-Dreaming Out Loud. (Not bad, just pretty meh outside the singles. Their later albums are a lot better.)
Live-Throwing Copper. (I bought this in college, and listened to it maybe twice. The album was a real bore beyond the hit singles, and radio made me thoroughly sick of those. Eventually I sold it to the used CD store.)

Yes @ BOMT. It's known that the genre is said to be singles and filler, but the filler is terrible in that one.
I can think of many albums where the non singles were just listless, boring or mediocre, ie. Oracular Spectacular by MGMT or Green by R.E.M.
